View 1 Repliesmy viewport is set for 2d wireframe, even when i have certain layers turned off or frozen the viewable lines in the layyers that are 'on' are broken as if i was in 2D hidden. text wont show up if over a "box" entity, no matter what elevation i set it at. The results come out upon printing as well.
There must be a display setting i am unaware of to fix this. Why do certain entities override others even if the later is at an elevation above it? Someone referred to draw order before but I still do not understand how to make that work.
what's up. long time member just a first time poster. i do a lot of photoshop and bryce work and was curious if anyone can tell me how to save the wireframe mode from bryce so i can blend it and the rendered version together. i want the look kind of like what renderosity.com used to look like with the hand fading from rendered into wireframe. i've tried looking online but i guess i haven't looked in the right place yet.

View 3 Replies View RelatedWhen working in wireframe mode in previous versions of max I was always able to select whatever object I wanted by clicking on one of its edges, regardless of whether it was behind any other objects. Now in the latest version max appears to be selecting objects closest to the view (as if I were in shaded/perspective) and it's driving me absolutely mental as making selections is now very slow and arduous.
I haven't yet managed to find whether or not this is a glitch, or a change, and if it is a change whether it can be turned back to how it was before?
With my viewport set at "2D wireframe", all object lines show regardless of elevation which can make it difficult to read and hard to really get the idea of what is going on in the drawing. Therefore I changed my viewport to "hidden" in an attempt to depict what is higher in elevation over lower objects by having the higher objects cancel out lower objects when running over them. For some reason it works with conduit running over conduit but when the conduit runs over other objects (that are lower in elevation) created with the box command the lines do not get broken.. the lower box object actual cancels out the higher conduit object??

View 9 Replies View RelatedIm trying to make a web wireframe in Illustrator CS6. From a tutorial I watched I started to make slices for different components on my web page by going object>slice>make. However when ever I saved it and opened the file up again the slices were gone. Also, I tried to save selected slices by going to file>save selected slices and also file>save for web but neither of these methods worked and the save slices never showed.

View 1 Replies View RelatedAt work one of our computers is running Acad 2009. For some reason the nav. cube only shows if I use a visual style other than 2D Wireframe. With the latter it's gone, and seeing how 2D Wireframe is what I use 90% of the time I really miss the cube! I can't find a solution to this in the nav. cube options.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI have an isometric cube where you can only see the visible (front-facing) edges, and all the lines have a stroke width of 1 unit.
How can I automatically make the outer lines thicker (eg 3 units) and leave the inner lines the same, or at least achieve that visual effect? I say automatically because the wireframes I have are far more complex than cubes. I want to avoid anything that involves manual selection or doing anything by eye (such as painting a background).
This is one of those "I don't know what I did, but I want to change it back" items.
I have a rigged, poly character, and when trying to change the view to wireframe, I changed the display resolution of the character. I think I maybe hit "3" instead of "4". But now the charactere is displayed with the low-poly cage surrounding the smoothed geometry, and I do not know how to switch the display back so I do not see the low poly cage any longer.
I am attempting to import 3d models from a software called Daz studio into Maya. The models enter motionbuilder and 3ds Max with no problem. When I import them into Maya they come in as wireframe. I have been unable to take the wireframe off of the model. The file format I am using is FBX. wHEN I RENDER an image of the model i am able to see it in it's realistic form-but when i attempt to see it in the viewport it is wireframe.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm not looking to RENDER wireframe, I'm looking to export a model as ONLY a wireframe out and bring it into After Effects.
Essentially, I am trying to bring an .obj into After Effects using the plugin Element 3D. While I'm aware I can simply import the model as-is into Element 3D and use the wireframe texture that Element 3D comes with, I was wondering if it's possible to just export a model out of Maya in it's wireframe state. I wasn't 100% sure if the wireframe state was just a view or not.
i'm currently learning maya 2011..my problem is that sometimes when i use the split polygon tool or the edge insert tool and some others A PART OF MY MODEL goes into wire frame mode not the whole model and even if i undo it still doesn't work..in the perspective viewport under shading i have selected 'smooth shade all'.

I have both Service packs and hotfixes applied. When I enter Wireframe mode while panning I cannot go back to Shaded mode. Try it yourself - make sure you are in Shaded mode, click and hold the middle mouse button and pan around without releasing it. Then press F3 while still panning to go into Wireframe mode and then release the middle mouse button. Now if you try to go back into shaded you can't! Unless you manually go and change it through the viewport options in the top left corner of the viewport.

I'm using 2D wireframe as my default view while extruding some solid pipes. Everything appears to work fine, but when I switch to any other shademode eg. 3D wireframe, some of the pipes disappear. In Navisworks they show up as listed objects in the selection tree but cannot be displayed and more imporantly do not get considered in clash detection.
I can't see anything different about the properties of the "hidden" pipes over any others that can be seen.
If I slice the "hidden" solids, then one half or both halves become visible like a normal solid again.
I have hundreds of pipes to model and clash so need to resolve what's happening here. Attached is a small sample file.
I am sometimes experiencing that my wireframe is suddenly "left behind" when moving a part in an assembly. I'm using the Shaded With Edges visual option, and the edges are left behind as you can see in the attached picture.
I haven't been able to reconstruct this error, and the part itself works fine. I can save, close, and open in order to fix the wireframe.

I am looking for a settings which can change the width of the line in 3d wireframe. Some of my users find that too thin. I've looked into application's options and in the registry. I can change almost anything but not that width.

I have set up a plane on whicg I have a referance image that I will base my model on. The problem is I can't see image after I start to block it out. When I turn wireframe on the image disapears?
How to I see referance plane image and have the rest in wireframe?
I have encountered problems with the viewport, randomly it has been impossible to click through wireframe models on the Viewport.
It treats everything like a shaded object even when set on wireframe. This means that if I have to get to a rug in the basement I have to go through the Roof, ceiling, bedroom floor, kitchen ceiling, kitchen cabinets, kitchen floor, basement ceiling before I can get to the rug. This has become annoying because if I wanted to select a few objects I cant even click and drag because it will click on the roof and move that. The only way I can click on something is if I go in to perspective and click on it directly, and when an object has multiple pieces to it it becomes a hastle.
I'm modeling something and when I go to wireframe the background image disappears.

I have objects in a layer and I want them displayed as wireframe. The problem is that it seems that I can't do that when in Nitrous diplay mode!
I go to the layer properties, choose wireframe in the upper right corner and set all the objects' display properties to "By Layer". And nothing happens! They are still displayed shaded. When I switch to Direct3D display mode however everything works perfectly fine as it should.
There's something I've noticed with Nitrous. Many things in Max don't work fine when it's used - Xrefs can't be displayed as box, edges are breaking up (non-continuous) and tend to disappear when at the periphery of an object. And now, layer properties don't work as well? What gives?! I thought Nitrous was the recommended display driver (at least that's what it says in Preferences) but it turns out that important functionality is broken when you use it so you have to revert back to the good old Direct3D.
I have been modeling a Wheel for a game mod and here recently my wireframe view on my viewports has been screwed up.. the sizing on the wireframes is like 3x the size they used to be and i cant find anything to reset them to normal.
View 4 Replies View RelatedIn 3dsMax 2014 I have noticed that when you select an object it will display it's wireframe. You use to be able to cycle through the F3 and F4 combinations to show/hide this wireframe however it does not appear to work in 3dsMax 2014.
Is there another way (besides the F3 + F4 hotkeys) to disable this wireframe on the selected object?

I have posted a 3 minute video showing how to work with the wireframe icons.Shortcuts to turn the wireframes on and off as well as the preferences to adjust the transparency and choose between showing all wireframes or a selected wireframe icon.
You can check all of this out on the Smoke Learning Channel..Or you can download the videos via iTunes
Ok so in previous version if you have an object selected, and hit F4, ( to urn on and off Wireframe display). you could have and object selected, without wireframe showing, or showing if you prefer.
This option seems to have been removed, or moved in 2014.
after loading the background image in the usual way you do its visible in all modes except when you switch to wireframe, which is the most likely time when you do want to see it. Maybe something to do with the nitrous viewport thingy, dont know?. Running a 64 bit os on a quad core system with 12 gb of ram and an invidia quadro 3800 card. Like to say that the nirous viewer is a great improvement for viewport accuracy , only seems to work with four lights though?
