Xara :: Some Way To Thicken Outside Edges Of Wireframe?
Sep 16, 2013
I have an isometric cube where you can only see the visible (front-facing) edges, and all the lines have a stroke width of 1 unit.
How can I automatically make the outer lines thicker (eg 3 units) and leave the inner lines the same, or at least achieve that visual effect? I say automatically because the wireframes I have are far more complex than cubes. I want to avoid anything that involves manual selection or doing anything by eye (such as painting a background).
I have just discovered that the Plugin Site Galaxy Edges & Frames CD cant be used in Live Effects in Graphic Designer 7.
These are the instructions on their CD for using with Xara, but after create bitmap and export i cant get it to work properly!!
1. Import the photo file you want the frame to be applied to with Import from the File menu. 2. Import one of the frame files from the frame sub folder with Import from the File menu. 3. Select the Bitmap Gallery from the Utilities menu. 4. Right click on the frame file in the Bitmap Gallery and select Apply as transparency from the context menu. 5. Use the handles of the frame object to make it the same size as the photo. Makes sure that the frame lies over the photo. 6. Choose Select All from the Edit menu or press Ctl +A to select both objects. 7. Choose Group from the Arrange menu or press Ctl+ G to combine both objects. 8. Select Create Bitmap Copy from the Arrange menu or press Ctl+ G to combine both objects. 9. In the Create bitmap option dialog make sure that the correct settings are set (e.g. that the color depth is set to 24bit) and press the Create button. 10. Save the created bitmap with Export from the File menu.
I have created a logo for a client using Xara. I would like to be able to send then a transparent version of the file so that they can use the logo on different backgrounds. The problem is a white hairy edge surrounding each element of the logo.
I have tried saving to png, gif, and tiff but they all look the same.
I am on Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 2013.I have a headshot that I can cut out of a larger photo using the freehand tool to trace the edges and then subtract the background that I want cropped out.
Now, I'm trying to figure out how I can apply some kind of transparency to the edges to soften them up a bit so they aren't so stark and will overlay nicely over my site background once the image is uploaded.
I'm not in good command of the Xara model here. If I create a move a series of copies lines (in effort to, say, make a grid), if I move the line from the bottom upwards it tends to align on the top edge. If I move from the above downwards, it tends to align on the bottom edge.
However, not always. <----this spooks me a bit.
This is with "align to grid" on, but "align to object" off.
Is there a way to have the line path itself (the infinitely thin middle of the line) align to the grid? I'm assuming that I can then worry about line joins (mitre, butt, etc.) separately.
I have been trying how to figure out how to make the center if an object transparent with color gradually appearing on the borders. The transarency tool insists on starting with a solid color in the center. If using a square as an example, how do I make the center transparent with the edges graduating to a solid color?
If I have a design (which is like a drawing/outline/sketch), and I need to thicken the lines, what should I do?
Two things to remember:
1. This is a design where I am not starting from scratch. It has already been done. 2. I want the lines to be of varying thickness and not all the same throughout the design. I would want to choose the thickness according to my requirements and the design.
Later, I would either use the design as is or color it.
I have an image which is similar to a white spider's web centred on but slightly rotated to a red spider's web on a solid background. I want to delete the solid background so it appears transparent and delete the white web so all that is left is the lines of red on a transparent background. I used the Magic Wand and Global flood mode to remove the white web and background but the red lines are very thin and broken now.
Is there any easy way to just nudge the thickness up enough to make them more solid? Or is there a plug-in that can do this? I am using v3.36.
I have a group of images that I am working on in Corel Draw x5. They are drawings, I scanned them as black/white images then used the "outline trace to clipart" feature to get good images.
I want to thicken the lines but if I use the outline pen tool to change the thickness it draws a box around my images. Is there a way to thicken the lines without getting the box?
This sheet metal model was working fine, until I decided to check it against the original AutoCAD drawing. Once I finish the "Side layout" sketch, the two thicken features had exclamation marks.
Create Thicken/Offset feature failed 00014118master.ipt: Errors occurred during update Thicken7: Could not build this Thicken
The attempted operation did not produce a meaningful result. Try with different inputs. Thicken feature is where I left "End of part"
If I tick "Automatic blending", it still works, but I want to create a new solid. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Autodesk Inventor 2013 SP1.1 64-Bit Vista Business 64-Bit E8400, 8GB, ATI FireGL V5600
How can I thicken/offset an entire part without having to select all the faces individually? The 'chain select' option is not good enough for selecting all faces/surfaces that meet and form an edge with no fillet.
I am having problems creating a profile around a path. The profile (image-1) resulted in an undesirable corner (image-2). Which I don't know if that can be fixed. My workaround was to create a lower profile, and then loft between the 2 rails.
The loft results in a twisted surface (image-3). So to correct this under loft> transition I turn off automatic mapping and edit the point set. I always end up with one extra set of points, or edge, and end up having one set of points on top of another, a duplicate edge. Which I believe is where my problem lies. However I can not delete this extra point set, so there is not much I can do there. Am I missing something? This results in a surface loft (image-4). When I thicken this surface by 6mm it results in this broken solid (image-5)
I have tried merging tangent surfaces in the loft command, which appears to work better, but when using thicken the error message reads that the thicken operation did not produce a meaningful result. When I change the thicken direction I get a solid, just not the one that I need.
I had many other strange errors, and seemed to have solved some of them by taking the fillets out the sketch, and applying them to the solid. But this should be an easy operation, and I can't seem to make this work at all.
I am using Inventor 2014 and the ipt file is attached.
I thought this was going to be a piece of cake in the new Illustrator CC but I am having a few unanticipated issues:)I need to create some vector tire images with different edges, such as the top one in the image below. So I thought this would be SO easy by simply creating a pattern brush in Illustrator and then using that for the outside. So I created the shape you see in the middle image below and created a pattern brush with this shape.I then created an ellipse and used the new brush for the outline.
All of those are open paths...it has taken the shape and applied it to the outline but has kept each shape separate, so I am not able to fill the circle in black. I could of course go in and manually join each little corner separately where the little shapes meet but this will take FOREVER with all the images I have to do.
So basically, I created coloured text inside Adobe Illustrator and however much I zoom into the text, the text always appears to have smooth edges. Once I click on 'Save For Web', the edge all around the text becomes rough and aliased. I chose GIF and PNG, but it still happens. The text is on a transparency background. The same problem applies to images when I am creating a logo.
I'm trying to snap a head with it's neck with the merge edge tool, but somewhere along the way, the edges lost there border edge characteristics and now I can't merge the edges. Is there a way to make the edges back to the way they were?
what's up. long time member just a first time poster. i do a lot of photoshop and bryce work and was curious if anyone can tell me how to save the wireframe mode from bryce so i can blend it and the rendered version together. i want the look kind of like what renderosity.com used to look like with the hand fading from rendered into wireframe. i've tried looking online but i guess i haven't looked in the right place yet.
When working in wireframe mode in previous versions of max I was always able to select whatever object I wanted by clicking on one of its edges, regardless of whether it was behind any other objects. Now in the latest version max appears to be selecting objects closest to the view (as if I were in shaded/perspective) and it's driving me absolutely mental as making selections is now very slow and arduous.
I haven't yet managed to find whether or not this is a glitch, or a change, and if it is a change whether it can be turned back to how it was before?
With my viewport set at "2D wireframe", all object lines show regardless of elevation which can make it difficult to read and hard to really get the idea of what is going on in the drawing. Therefore I changed my viewport to "hidden" in an attempt to depict what is higher in elevation over lower objects by having the higher objects cancel out lower objects when running over them. For some reason it works with conduit running over conduit but when the conduit runs over other objects (that are lower in elevation) created with the box command the lines do not get broken.. the lower box object actual cancels out the higher conduit object??
Im trying to make a web wireframe in Illustrator CS6. From a tutorial I watched I started to make slices for different components on my web page by going object>slice>make. However when ever I saved it and opened the file up again the slices were gone. Also, I tried to save selected slices by going to file>save selected slices and also file>save for web but neither of these methods worked and the save slices never showed.
At work one of our computers is running Acad 2009. For some reason the nav. cube only shows if I use a visual style other than 2D Wireframe. With the latter it's gone, and seeing how 2D Wireframe is what I use 90% of the time I really miss the cube! I can't find a solution to this in the nav. cube options.
This is one of those "I don't know what I did, but I want to change it back" items.
I have a rigged, poly character, and when trying to change the view to wireframe, I changed the display resolution of the character. I think I maybe hit "3" instead of "4". But now the charactere is displayed with the low-poly cage surrounding the smoothed geometry, and I do not know how to switch the display back so I do not see the low poly cage any longer.
I am attempting to import 3d models from a software called Daz studio into Maya. The models enter motionbuilder and 3ds Max with no problem. When I import them into Maya they come in as wireframe. I have been unable to take the wireframe off of the model. The file format I am using is FBX. wHEN I RENDER an image of the model i am able to see it in it's realistic form-but when i attempt to see it in the viewport it is wireframe.
I'm not looking to RENDER wireframe, I'm looking to export a model as ONLY a wireframe out and bring it into After Effects.
Essentially, I am trying to bring an .obj into After Effects using the plugin Element 3D. While I'm aware I can simply import the model as-is into Element 3D and use the wireframe texture that Element 3D comes with, I was wondering if it's possible to just export a model out of Maya in it's wireframe state. I wasn't 100% sure if the wireframe state was just a view or not.
i'm currently learning maya 2011..my problem is that sometimes when i use the split polygon tool or the edge insert tool and some others A PART OF MY MODEL goes into wire frame mode not the whole model and even if i undo it still doesn't work..in the perspective viewport under shading i have selected 'smooth shade all'.
