I have been trying how to figure out how to make the center if an object transparent with color gradually appearing on the borders. The transarency tool insists on starting with a solid color in the center. If using a square as an example, how do I make the center transparent with the edges graduating to a solid color?

I have created a logo for a client using Xara. I would like to be able to send then a transparent version of the file so that they can use the logo on different backgrounds. The problem is a white hairy edge surrounding each element of the logo.
I have tried saving to png, gif, and tiff but they all look the same.
I'm working on a project, and all of a sudden when I ad a outline line width to an object the outline seems transparent to me. I can get it to stop doing this with copying other objects in the scene that have a solid line around them, but as soon as I go back to the other items the transparent line width starts happening again.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have been working with Xara for two days now, and it's great! I am using the trial version of Xara Photo & Graphic Designer 9. I created a file with a couple of transparent shapes (love the transparency tool - so easy!), and it looked great. I exported to .pdf, and the transparent gradient was all gone. The shapes are there, but have no gradient whatsoever.
I also exported it as a .jpg and the gradients are present in the .jpg. In other words, the .xar file looks great and the .jpg looks great. Just the .pdf doesn't work.
I have a solid green rectangle.
I would like to create several similar green rectangles at various levels of transparency that will perfectly match the color of the solid green rectangle. Is there an easy way to do this?
I have tried matching it by eye, and can get very close:
the original solid green rectangle is R:135 G: 174 B: 155
after making a copy of the solid green rectangle, say, 90% transparent, I can play with Hue/Saturation to get around R:136 G:175 B: 154, according to the eyedropper. But I don't see any way of fine tuning the RGB/HSB/etc. absolute values in the transparent version.

I am creating a stylized Polaroid photo and want the end result to look like it is lifting off the paper by creating a shadow under it. I cannot seem to find a way to do this with the transparency tool. Look at my photo, I want the shadow to fade outwards from the edge of the photo on all 3 sides.
I've got a photo that I want the edges to gradually fade away into a transparent background.

View 8 Replies View RelatedI try to anti-alias or matte the edges of a shape in order to make a transparent gif/png of it without having pixelated 'hard edges'. The current situation is that I have a selection of some shape in GIMP. Below the layer with the shape in it, I stroke the selection of my shape with a lighter colour by using a fuzzy paintbrush. This gives me some sort of anti-alising effect, but it isn't any close to the matte option in the 'export for web' dialog of Photoshop. Because I really do like GIMP, I am curious if there is a better way to get anti-aliased shapes using Gimp?

I would also like to have an outline (Line) tracing the font. I've been doing some internet searches for "punched out" and "cutout" text and the like but this process is using two solid color layers.
As it stands now, I have a transparent background, the panel as one layer, and the text as another layer on top of the panel.
I came across a process for Illustrator but was hoping that it could be done in Photoshop as well since I have everything already setup in PS. I did try the method described for Illustrator but I couldn't get it to work in PS...not throwing out the high percentage of operator error on this one.
I'm making some buttons for a game I'm making. The game has several themes you can switch to. I tried to make a gray button, and then add the theme gradient/image on top, but the semi-transparent parts of the button became solid.

I have the transparent background layer, the solid rectangle layer that occupies part of the image, and the text layer (with text element) on the top of the solid rectangle layer. Below is a logo that I scanned form a logo designs book. The grey area needs to be solid black.
I can use the trace feature on CorelDraw. However, the trace feature does not outline the artwork very well.
Is there some way I can make the logo below solid black and solid white without having to sketch the whole thing using features like trim and nodes?
It may be that the trim feature and the nodes feature is about the only way to make the artwork really good and sharp.

Attached is the Untitle.jpg, to make more clearer to you. Blue is the wall and skyblue is the aquarium. I want the back and the front of the aquarium don't have any line in the middle but even I do shade command the fill of the color is still there. Cause if I explode and delete the line in the middle the colors that fill the aquarium are getting rid off See Untitled 2.Jpg to see what I mean. as you can see I was able to make the background transparent by 'select by color' + 'add alpha channel' + 'remove selected area' but I also need to remove the white behind the 50% opaque reddish orange flames as well, i cannot select the white by 'select by color' or 'magic wand select' or any of the selection tools because of the issues of the white / reddish orange mix of opacity, so I need removing this white behind the part opacity color.

I want to make the solid and then set something up that allows the user to change a few of the parameters of the solid in a very user friendly way (i.e. a box that says "cylinder radius" and has an input box so the user can enter a value).

In order to do so, I am creating the fill as a background, and making the object transparent, but when I do that, all my lines disappear (of course!) but I need the lines in it for details.
