When I draw a circle (or ellipse, or...) with no fill, and apply 3D to it, I would like the center part to be transparent. As it turns out, I get a white fill with the 3D lights applied to it. How I could make the center transparent ?

The transarency tool insists on starting with a solid color in the center. If using a square as an example, how do I make the center transparent with the edges graduating to a solid color?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm modeling a temperature gauge and would like to have glass over the gauge so the inside is visible. I can easily do this with an assembly, but I'm wanting to do this with a single part. I tried to derive a new part from the assembly, but the transparent part turns solid so nothing inside is visible. Is it possible to do this?

I'm sure there's a way to do this but for the life of me I can't remember and can't find it when I do a search. I have an object that is comprised of several lines that are grouped together, and I want to fill the entire group with a fractal cloud 3-color fill. In order to do so, I am creating the fill as a background, and making the object transparent, but when I do that, all my lines disappear (of course!) but I need the lines in it for details. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a part that has protrusions. When i mate that part up to another part that second part needs to have cutouts/holes to receive those protrusions.
i mainly use it in sheetmetal parts. and use the rectangular protrusions on de contour to mate up with corresponding cutouts in the other sheet. this works with positioning and also makes for a nice weld spot/area.
But also for making holes to accommodate a mold pin used in custom punch dies. I want the intervening part to receive a corresponding (propperly tolleranced) hole automatically. Much like a bolted connection does.
same for parts like circlips. i want them to automatically generate the seat in the part it's mated to. Rather than using the axle generator.
Ofcourse one can place the parts and do an in assembly interpart projection and go from there, but i want the part to generate the (predifined) modification to the other part. It would save time and also reduces problems as the parts are moved about or even removed.
I have created the part based on piece of standard angle taken from library. Now I want to make a mirrored copy of this part by Component-Mirror.
Inventor does not let me do it with standard part.
The question is: How I can transform a standard part to normal one, I mean I could get rid of belonging to standard part? Making a copy does not work. The only way is to derive and mirror this part but I wish there could be easy way.
Is it a bug or what? Why can't I centre an object to the page in DP6? It's always off by about 5 pixels. I have to manually adjust it every time.

1. I am not able to do a somewhat basic task. I have an image on a seperate layer and I want to merge it, but I want the edges to be more softened.I used to use photoshop deluxe, it had a paint brush with a soft round tip that you could make hard edges softer. Its not like smudge, more like a softer eraser. Is there a way to do that?
2. Is there some way to make any image gradually more transparent either from one edge to another or from the center out? (Like the effect you get using gradient, but with a gradual opacity to an opaque object/image)
I've noticed something keeps happening: when I bring a button in from the design gallery and I change the text on the button from "button" to "click here" or whatever, the text is no longer centered in the button. When I check the Mouse-Over layer, the text is also misaligned. When I go to center the text on one layer, it then gets misaligned on the other!
The only way I've found around it is to make the button in a new document and then cut & paste it into the web page.
Ive made a little mistake while making a content center part.
Is there anyway to edit the Ipart that i published into the content center? there is a custom property in there that i would like to have deleted. Inventor 2013
I just created some new content center libraries for different grade bolts. I set up the part number and file number to read how I would like. When I add a bolt from my library the part name is not what I would like. It seems to be the Family Name followed by the Size Designation. Is there anyway I can get this to be the File Name that I modified in the Family Table?

Why would Inventor tease me with showing me the center of gravity plains in an assembly but making them completely useless?
When I place a part, such as a bolt, from the Content Center, it's immediately looking for the other half of an insert iMate. How do I make a part I created do that? I put an iMate in the part, but it had no effect.
It sure would save a bunch of time if this would work.

I have a part published in my content center that was not authored with Tube & Pipe connections. I was wondering if there was a way to edit that part and re-publish it, or would I have to delete it from my Content Center.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI needed to make changes to an existing part that I had published into the CC a few days ago.
what I did was make the changes to the part that is on my local. Then selected the part in CC and RC'd on it and selected "Delete Family". I thought it was gone, but when I go to reinsert it into an assembly, I get this message.
This tells me it is located somewhere else in the CC under a different family. How do I find this other family and then remove it so I can get the updated version in the CC.
The new release has me baffled. Some of the b16.9 fittings are the wrong color. Is there a way to change them back to the old color?
The reducer and straight tee are oddly still the correct color, but the others are a lighter shade of gray.
When I click on a light gray fitting, the material and appearance say "Steel, Wrought; Steel". When I select the old darker color, it says "Wrought Steel; Metal-Steel."
I'd like to change this at the CC level instead of manually changing them in every assembly and design representation.

I'm working on a design for an Outdoor Slat Chair and when I try to constrain the slats to the side of chair (3/4" extrude) they end up constrining off in mid air. I believe they are constraining to the center points of the arcs and fillets used to create the chair sides. Does this make any sense and if so, how do I get around this issue?
View 3 Replies View RelatedFirst issue (see screen shot 1): As an example I created a simple b&w text image, which I subsequently saved to file as a GIF. At a later time I decide to open the saved file in order to edit the image. In editing all I want to do is remove the 2 dots over the letter "i" and re-save the image. Screen shot 1 shows the image unlocked on the page after re-opening the file. I cannot figure out how to edit the image at this point in order to remove the dots over the "i. I know I am overlooking a simple step, but I've tried everything. What is the secret to going back and cutting out just part of an image after the image has already been created.
Second issue (see screen shot 2): After many, many, many attempts I am still unable to create a simple GIF image with a totally transparent background so I can use the image on colored backgrounds. Using the same image example as above, I first went to Arrange>Create Bitmap Copy. That brings up the "Create bitmap options" window. For color depth I choose True color+Alpha. Then I hit the create button. The image I just created is selected on the page, and I then click the Export button to save it. After naming the file and clicking the Export button, I am taken to the GIF Export Bitmap Options window. At this point I have tried both transparency options. If I choose the option to make the background transparent, I end up with an image surrounded by white artifacts when the image is placed over a colored background (as shown in the top of screen shot 2). If I start over and choose instead to make a color transparent (in this case I chose to make white transparent since the image was created with a white background), I end up with the image surrounded by a block of white (the lower image in screen shot 2). What is the proper way to make transparent GIFs?
I've been working on a traditional/digital painting, and in my earlier ignorance about computer art programs, I accidentally left a background on it that I would dearly love to remove. Here is the partially-finished painting

Much of the digital work was done in PSE. Is there any way to remove that white background using Xara?
1) took a picture how a sunset looks at all above water
2) drew a rectangle and reproduced around the color transitions of the sun as an Elliptical fill
3) drew a rectangle for the water, applying fractal fill and transparency Stained glass to reflect the sun maybe, after feathered the edges
And here would be the question, it seems a horizont of the water is always rather a sharp line at sunsets, and in the meantime my water is feathered So how to make a trasparent feathered object on one side sharp, but in other way staying transparent feathered. My first thought was to Ctrl - K cloning of course and make it almost a line, but maybe there is one step method.
