AutoCAD Inventor :: Constrains To Center Points Instead Of The Part
Oct 31, 2011
I'm working on a design for an Outdoor Slat Chair and when I try to constrain the slats to the side of chair (3/4" extrude) they end up constrining off in mid air. I believe they are constraining to the center points of the arcs and fillets used to create the chair sides. Does this make any sense and if so, how do I get around this issue?
Is there a way or method to use center lines or points as constraints? I very recently had to constrain a cylinder to a 3mm flt bar (at the end with the bar positioned perpendicular to the cylinder)
I couldnt find a successful way of constrainting these together. i couldnt mate them because i couldnt select the cylinder face. In this instance, how could i do that?
Attached are two parts and an iFeature that I keep in the "Punch" folder and use as a punch. It is common that clearance holes need to turn into slots and vice versa. The centerpoint is the perfect locator for both. The problem is I have not found a good way to place an iFeature slot on a centerpoint as easy as I do an iPunch. This means I have to convert the part to sheet metal and then back again.
Is there an easy way to place a slot, or a similar slot like this with an iFeature? ie as easy as the Hole Feature or iPunch Feature?
The other thing I do is add an axis and plane thought the center points to aid in constraining. If I remember correctly it was not possible to include work geometry in an iFeature (at least with version 10)
I am trying to add some connection points to flanges that we have ion our Content Center. I am having difficulty. I can get it done if I re-author the flange from scratch, but not if I attempt to modify an existing part.
My workflow:
Get a custom fitting to my localEdit itRun the Tube and Pipe Autor toolAdd my additional connectionSaveFrom the content center editor run Replace Family Template on the original family
Ive made a little mistake while making a content center part.
Is there anyway to edit the Ipart that i published into the content center? there is a custom property in there that i would like to have deleted. Inventor 2013
I just created some new content center libraries for different grade bolts. I set up the part number and file number to read how I would like. When I add a bolt from my library the part name is not what I would like. It seems to be the Family Name followed by the Size Designation. Is there anyway I can get this to be the File Name that I modified in the Family Table?
For some reason it will not let me constrain a part to the center of gravity plains. I would like to constrain lifting lugs to the center of gravity so the model will automatically update itself. Is there anyway to make this work (using ilogic or anything)?
Why would Inventor tease me with showing me the center of gravity plains in an assembly but making them completely useless?
When I place a part, such as a bolt, from the Content Center, it's immediately looking for the other half of an insert iMate. How do I make a part I created do that? I put an iMate in the part, but it had no effect.
It sure would save a bunch of time if this would work.

I have a part published in my content center that was not authored with Tube & Pipe connections. I was wondering if there was a way to edit that part and re-publish it, or would I have to delete it from my Content Center.
I needed to make changes to an existing part that I had published into the CC a few days ago.
what I did was make the changes to the part that is on my local. Then selected the part in CC and RC'd on it and selected "Delete Family". I thought it was gone, but when I go to reinsert it into an assembly, I get this message.
This tells me it is located somewhere else in the CC under a different family. How do I find this other family and then remove it so I can get the updated version in the CC.
The new release has me baffled. Some of the b16.9 fittings are the wrong color. Is there a way to change them back to the old color?
The reducer and straight tee are oddly still the correct color, but the others are a lighter shade of gray.
When I click on a light gray fitting, the material and appearance say "Steel, Wrought; Steel". When I select the old darker color, it says "Wrought Steel; Metal-Steel."
I'd like to change this at the CC level instead of manually changing them in every assembly and design representation.

I mostly use SAE and ANSI screws, bolts, pins and etc in my assemblies. It is tiresome to wade through the DIN, ISO, JAL and other components when looking for a particular inch bolt. Is there a way to unload the excess library listings?
how to select Content Center Part Automatically. Now I use pick methode for select CC part.
Here's my code :
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click 'Membuat koneksi ke Inventor Dim m_invApp As Inventor.Application = Nothing m_invApp =
I have a part that was made from content center and modified further. I would like Inventor to no longer recognize this part as a content center part. It has been renamed and migrated to 2013 format, but still when inserting into an assembly the assembly recognizes it as a content center part in the browser.
Also, the browser title for the part will not update with the file name.
edit material of part taken from content center library. In library itself i have to change the material of item and specification of part. means i will get the all details in BOM.
A coworker of mine has made a bunch of custom extrusions, turned them into iParts, and published them to the Content Center. The parts are driven in length by the key parameter "Length". Unfortunately, he forgot to mark that "Length" parameter as export in the parameter dialogue before publishing. Is there ANY way to get that "Length" parameter to be exported so the Parts List can pull the cut length?
I'm currently trying to automatically cycle through all the parts in a given assembly within a drawing and place a sketched symbol at the COG of each part using C# (Visual Studio Express 2010 with Inventor 2012). The main code snippet is as follows:
//'Sketch Symbols SketchedSymbolDefinition symDef = oDoc.SketchedSymbolDefinitions[1]; int i = 1; while (i <= oBOMRows.Count) { BOMRow oRow1 = oBOMRows[i]; ComponentDefinition oCompDef = oRow1.ComponentDefinitions[1];
[Code] .....
I've tried several routes, but this is my basic approach. I feel like I am missing some GeometryIntent or something of that nature as the Sketched Symbols are showing up at the correct position but they are not associated with the given part (I've attached a screenshot of what is currently happening - the wipeouts you see should be displaying a property in them that is associated to the part). I also do not want the leader to be visible.
I've been tasked to turn our 2D cad dwgs to 3D in inventor.
I'm working on a frame at the moment, I got all the square and rectangular tube from the CC and constrained them to match the CAD dwg, now I need to add the mounting holes but if I add holes to one copy all the copies get the holes.
What option can I use to make each instance stand alone?
I am looking for a way to recognize a custom content Center part inside Inventor. The way I see it, I would like to fill a custom property with a value so I can set a seperate category inside Vault Pro for a custom Content Center part.
I'm trying to use "Replace Family Template" to overwrite an iPart family in Content Center.I've made changes to the iProperties of the iPart and I want those new changes to be in Content Center.
When I RMB on the iPart in Content Center and click "Replace Family Template", I get the "Import Part Invalid" message.Should I be able to do what I'm trying to do?
I've run into an issue with the Content Center customization. I easily understand how to manipulate the table to create parts with our part numbers, different material spec, & other predetermined aspects of the included templates that were included with the Inventor 2012 update. The issue I'm running into is that we would like to add or modify the original part the table is referring to.
In my example pics there is a bushing that I would like to control the hex nut size on. In the model it was created with a tangent constraint within the sketch instead of a linear dimension from the two flat surfaces. I would like to change that, but keep getting error messages stating:
I have created a new colum in family table editor for a custom part in content center. After that i created an assembly using the same custom part from contentr center. Then i prepared the drawing for that i mean *.idw. In the drawing file i have to attach a part list. and i need to add the the new colum generated in family table to part list.Do we have any option available to add the specified column in part list ?
For some reason when I start either the bolted connection generator or the shaft generator, the content center parts don't show up if I select "modify" to change the parts. For example: I wanted to create an axle with a retaining-ring-groove. I created the axle, and under Features I selected Retaining Ring.
Then a dialog shows up with some standard dimensions, and on the right under "Position" it says "ASME B 27.7M". When I click here, an empty dialogbox shows with filter "All" activated.
It should show all retaining rings available in the content center. The strange thing however is that when I exit this function and start the ordinary "Place from Content Center" command, I can see all retaining rings that are available (see pictures).
The same thing occurs when using the bolted connection generator.
I am new to inventor and am trying to autodrop sos 632-8 from then content center into a sheet metal part. I have correct holesfor this (.213") but it just will not autodrop. I can drop a screw in the same hole which makes me feel like there is some issue with the pem fasterners.
I'm trying to create a content center part with a decal attached to the model. The problem I am facing it that the decal is not adjusting in size when the ipt is placed from the content center. The decal does adjust in the original ipt.
I'm looking for a way to change the size of a custom content center part via ilogic. I found a way to replace them on this forum but this is not ideal for, because that creates a new part every time i change the size of the part.
Within a part, I'm trying to identify sketch points that are generated from projected geometry, but the geometry is subsequently changed higher up the feature tree, leaving a pink sketch point (or worse). What attributes would such a sketch point have?
I have created a new item in content center in my personnel library. When i am creating a new item in content center its creating *.ipt file somewhere ? If so from which location i can open the part file ?
