how i could possibly make a wireframe view of a psd that has already been created. I have a website design, all individually layered, what i need to do is get a white background and a black line stroke rounch each element.
View 1 RepliesIm trying to make a web wireframe in Illustrator CS6. From a tutorial I watched I started to make slices for different components on my web page by going object>slice>make. However when ever I saved it and opened the file up again the slices were gone. Also, I tried to save selected slices by going to file>save selected slices and also file>save for web but neither of these methods worked and the save slices never showed.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI have objects in a layer and I want them displayed as wireframe. The problem is that it seems that I can't do that when in Nitrous diplay mode!
I go to the layer properties, choose wireframe in the upper right corner and set all the objects' display properties to "By Layer". And nothing happens! They are still displayed shaded. When I switch to Direct3D display mode however everything works perfectly fine as it should.
There's something I've noticed with Nitrous. Many things in Max don't work fine when it's used - Xrefs can't be displayed as box, edges are breaking up (non-continuous) and tend to disappear when at the periphery of an object. And now, layer properties don't work as well? What gives?! I thought Nitrous was the recommended display driver (at least that's what it says in Preferences) but it turns out that important functionality is broken when you use it so you have to revert back to the good old Direct3D.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to color a sketch I made and have thus far (successfully??) created a white background, an ink layer and a color layer. They are in multiply mode. The file I am working with is not GIF or JPEG, it's XCF.
Color is set to 100%, mode is normal. And yes, the image mode IS set to RGB.
I had selected a small color palette and filled an ellipse shape with it. Fine so far. I wanted to make another ellipse within this one and make it a different color. This did not work. I don't know how many options I tried, incl. exiting the program and starting again, to no avail. Somehow (how this worked) ONE additional color worked (very similar to the first). But no black, for example, no green, nothing.
Yesterday I finished a picture (my first attempt using GIMP or any software, at least for art) and I was super happy with the result. It's not working.
i have 2 jpg picture files and I want to make one new one picture or copy the picture from one file and place it next to the other picture in the other file.
for example i have a picture of a red car and a picture of a blue car. I'd like to end up with one picture contaning a red car and a blue car
If I create a third picture and copy and paste an existing picture into it, the quality of the new picture is reduced.
I want to make smart previews for all of my existing files and move the originals to an external drive. It goes without saying that I want the catalogs intact. I tried to do it but was unsucessful.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have an image which is simply a one color gradient, with transparency from nothing to something. I would like to be able to access the existing gradient on the image and change only the color. I have hunted high and low and cannot see how to do this.
(I am familiar with how to make a new gradient and how to change the colors in a saved gradient via the gradient dialogue. But for the life of me, I can't see how to access an existing gradient on an image and change only this one parameter.
I have a logo that I am working with and I need to make it a 3D object for what I'm doing in After Effects. I am trying to make it 3D so I can edit it in repousse because all I really need to do is extrude it.
I've tried the different options in the 3D drop down menu but none of them bring me to edit in repousse.
Also, I know that I can make it 3D in After Effects my making multiples of it and what not but I don't want to go about it that way. Also, I'm working with CS5.5 and the 3D renderer plugin in After Effects is only available in CS6.

The actual source file is a Photoshop psd but I cannot import the psd into Edge so I have to painstakingly export each layer as a png and there are over 40 layers. Is there a way to take a layered Photoshop file and turn those layers into transparent pngs so when they import to Edge or another app the layers would remain intact but just as png's?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to create an all new existing surface over existing ground. I have a TIN surface of the EG, and I have drawn overlay splines that describe the new surface, but how to go about creating that design surface.
It is a compound surface, open on one end and closed all around on the other, somewhat like a half of a football stadium, but with an irregular upper edge because I am needing to figure out cuts and fills to manipulate the EG into this new surface without costly major terraforming. There is about 40-50' vertical elevation between the "field" and the upper rim with a generally constant 7-10 deg. slope all around. I'm just at a loss to figure out how to approach this project, and am quite new to Civil 3D.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI created a Photoshop file with text and background layers. The client wants me to place an animated GIF in the center of the file.
How do I get all but 3 layers which comprise the animated GIF to not go into the animated gif timeline on the bottom of the screen. I can only get this to work by turning off all the text and background layers. I need the timeline to just have 3 layers in it and only those layers move.
I think that "auto blend layers>panorama" is assumed to make panoramas from layers ... And, there is also "auto align layers" for making panoramas from layers.
I tried "auto blend layers>panorama" with an image and it can not make a panorama from the two layers trial image ... "auto align layers" can make a panorama easily from the same image.
So, I can see that there is a clear difference between the "auto align layers" and "auto blend layers>panorama" ...
But I could not understand the intention of designers of PS about the usage difference between the "auto align layers" and "auto blend layers>panorama"?
Why is it that when I save a file that has many, many layers to a PDF without layers as a copy that the file size is larger than flattening the layers and then saving the file as a copy to PDF? 19Mb vs. 5Mb?? Wouldn't saving a file without layers be the same as flattening the layers and then saving the file??

For some reason when I have a multi-layered photoshop file in CS6 and I try to save - it gives me a program error. This doesnt happen all the time just when I have been working on a document for a long length of time ( maybe something to do with auto save?) The only way I can save the file is to flatten but then I loose all of my hard work and layers!

In "save as pdf", I have layers checked and I am indicating I want to preserve Photoshop functionality, which causes the PDF/X box to go to "None". What am I doing wrong? I know there is a script for saving each layer as a pdf automatically from which I could build the layered Acrobat file I want, but it I'd like a one-step process. There is every indication that this should happen, but it does not.

I have no problems reopening the files but some of my colleagues get an error when opening the tif file. This is the error message "This document contains unknown data which will be discarded to keep layers editable. To preserve the original appearance instead choose flatten to load composite data as a flattened image."
View 7 Replies View RelatedBasically, what i have is an image of a character. kind of a perspective view, 2.5D if you will :p
Each part of the character fits in a certain place in the layer order. He faces to the right, so the left arm/leg must be at the bottom, then the torso/head in the middle, and the right hand side of him at the top. It's a little more detailed than that, but you have the general gist of it, the order of each part must be maintained.
Now aside from that, i actually have two sets of parts. One is the base character, naked. And one is clothing/Armour for all those body parts. I'm planning to make several more outfits and right now it's getting kind of unmanageable.
Again, like the draw order quoted above, the outfit parts must also be in their correct place, each one exactly above the body part it goes on, and below the bodyparts that draw on top of it. So i end up with these two sets of layers interleaving, in a very messy way.
So, what i'd like to do, is figure out some way of sorting things a bit better. I'm not too familiar with the deeper workings of Photoshop, but i've heard of smart objects, linking layers, and grouping layers with the little folder button.
What i'd like to be able to do, would be, at a minimum, to toggle the visibility of an entire set of layers at once, without affecting the other sets. If it's possible, it'd also be nice to be able to transform, and use filters/adjustments/selections on an entire set of layers simultaneously, too.
What's absolutely important is that everything maintains it's proper position in the draw order, and everything is non-destructive. no merging of layers.

OK, I have an image of a webpage layout approx 800 x 1300 I need to convert this to a layered psd. I know I can take the image and use the pen tool and cut each slice and make them all layers which is nuts. I also know how to slice up an image in PS and save as images and slices and did that, now all those slices that PS saved for me I need to turn back into layers that will sit in a .psd follow? But I can't seem to find a tutorial anywhere on doing this. I'm in CS3 and maybe I have been working too hard but this is boggling my mind. I see thousands of ready for the web templates all in Photoshop layered .psd's how are these getting done?

I'm using a Dell 8200 computer, 1GB of RAM, IntelPentium4 processer, Windows XP Professional,and a Canon MP780 multiple function printer.

I have a PSD file with about 14 layers. A few are hidden. I want to save as a jpg, so I go to file -> save as and save as a jpg file (the yellow alert icon shows next to "layers" in the save dialog). Yet the resulting jpg looks just fine. I've been doing this for years.
Today, support told me in case #180459305 that doing that would corrupt the jpg. They said that I need to first merge layers in the PSD file, then save as a jpg.
They also suggested that I post this question here. So here it is. Do I have to go through the extra step in manually flattening the PSD file (and potential pitfall of mistakenly saving it as a PSD and losing my layers forever)?
