I cannot open a file in either Photoshop CS6 or CC if the file has more than one layer. The application crashes every tme I attempt to open a multi-layer file.
View 7 RepliesI spent 5 hours on a graphic for my children's book. Saved it, interestingly enough, in Paint.NET as a multi-layer .jpeg, which I thought was fantastic as it had never worked before. Ahhh, and it isn't working now. Now I can't open the file. I've tried Paint.NET, MS Paint, GIMP, MS Picture Manager, Windows Picture Viewer, and Windows Media Center. Maybe other programs.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI add one ore two duplicate layers to the background layer. Then I add multiple adjustment layers (e.g., Hue/Sat; Brightness, Cotrast,etc.). Then I want to use the Clone Stamp to take something off of the background. The only way I am able to remove an item with the clone stamp is to remove it from the background and the duplicate layers ONE LAYER AT A TIME. Of course, I could always remove the object before I make the dups, but is there anyway to do this by going to any ONE layer and removing the object (using the Clone Stamp or any other tool)?

Photoshop CS6 and Illustrator CS6 crash unexpectedly when trying to open a file. I'm on OSX 10.6.8. I installed the software through Creative Cloud. I tried deleting preferences and it still doesn't work. Here is the error details.

The issue probably has to do with the differences in settings. I am using the 64 bit version of Windows 7.I imported a group of pictures with the XMP sidecar files generated with Lightroom v3. All the image files, a mixture of Canon Mark 5D II RAW and jpg files from my point & shoot UFO camera, imported without issue picking up all my tagging and GPS settings. When importing you are put into the Library module and from the Library module I could click on any RAW or jpg file, look at the meta data and view full screen.
I then entered the Develop module with a jpg picture selected and none of my settings made it across. The process was set to 2012. I was able to try out the new adjustments and all worked very well.I then selected a RAW file while still in the Develop module and all hell broke loose.
I got a tip window pop up, the film strip went orange, the rest of the app screen then became greyed out and then behind tip pop up a crash window containing this information appeared:

There was no other path but to have the app close after that. Now since Lightroom has left off with the RAW file in the develop module when I restart the app it starts in the develop module with that same RAW image selected and I crash before I can change to a jpg. I am probably going to have to delete and recreated the data file to use the app again
After the all this I went back and checked to see how I had the catalog settings in LR 3 set because there were no sidecar files for the jpg images. I did not have the option to write settings to jpg and tif files but did have write settings to sidecar set. So I have a bit of a mystery why I have no sidecar files for jpg files when I should have based on the way the settings were. This probably explains why I had no issues at all with them in LR 4.
I am going to get LR 4 working again and then import the same batch of pictures without any sidecar files and see if I have any issues. I will report back soon.
I can compose my own multi track music, but how to I get it into a format that Corel Video Studio could use -- to allow me to use Set Mood to adjust the layers?

I didn't have the problem with CS2.
When I import illustrator files into photoshop, the system crashes. Crashes are more frequent importing higher than 72dpi resolutions.
While working on a drawing the file would not save (message - failed to save), then Xara DP7 crashed. The file disapeared from my hard drive. I restored the file with a utility. Now when I try to open file it says - Failed to read XAR file, Failed to read record buffer.

I am having a problem with AutoCad 2013 crashing. While running the program when I use the open command dialog box if I re-name a file, create a folder, or copy a file autocad goes unresponsive and crashes immediately afterward. I have installed the service pack and update my video card driver trying to fix the problem. I used to be able to perform everything mentioned above in AutoCad 2010 without any problems. I don't think its my computer causing the problem because everyone else in my office is having the same issue with 2013.
View 5 Replies View Relatedsince some weeks i have a real curious bug in 3dsmax.With less words: Everytime i want to open a File Dialog Window in 3dsmax it crashes directly after the mouse click without any warning. It is like something has killed my 3dsmax.exe process.In other words: I can't work anymore. Some examples for the File window are:
File --> Open
File --> Save as
MAXScript --> Run Script
and so on...
The only way i can save my MaxFile is to overwrite my existing File by pressing "CTRL+S"..Another curious thing is, that it seems to happen with random max files. If i work on a new scene everything is perfect, but after a week this problem happens with this scene too.First i thought that this problem occurs only on my computer, but yesterday another worker of our company had the same issue on a max file, which i have never seen before.Both of us haven't installed any software the last weeks.Another idea was, that we have a new windows hotfix, which occurs this issue, but all of our other machines are up to date too.
I have Adobe Premier Pro CC on a laptop windows 8.1.
I can open the software without problem but when i want to create a new projet, open a projet, import media (all actions which needed to use the window's browser) the soft crash and a "adobe premiere pro has stopped working" pop up appears.

What if I have created 7 logo versions. I want the client to view these 7 versions as one file (maybe one PDF file with 1 logo per page). Each logo version is on its own layer in Illustrator right now. How do I convert each logo/layer to a multi-page PDF file? Since this is just for viewing, I don’t have to submit EPS files yet to the client.

View 1 Replies View RelatedA colleague was working on a drawing yesterday in AutoCAD 2013 when it crashed. Since then the drawing has refused to open in AutoCAD 2013. It also does not open Trueview. It will however open in previous version of AutoCAD. We tried to export it to .dxf as well but they are corrupt. We also tried to attach it to a new drawing as an Xref and as a block, both were met with an instant fatal error and the closure of AutoCAD.
We have tried auditing, purging, resaving, using backs-ups. None of them will open in AutoCAD 2013 any more. The drawing closes without attempting to open with no error messages. It just loads up the default drawing(x).dwg.
Playing a video will cause Lightroom 4 to crash in Windows 7. It seems to be correlated with several videos open in the grid.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI've just started using VS X6 Pro, after not doing much with video for a few years. I previously used VS 10 and 9.
We have a canon P&S camera which produces HD H264 mov files which I am editing for the first time and getting a weird problem. The files play fine on the time line, but when I try to use the multi-trim tool I get two issues:
1. Audio is badly out of sync in the multi trim window, like 1/2 second in a 20sec clip. (again, same clip plays fine on the time line)
2. When I make a multiple trim, the "play trimmed video" button does not work properly. eg if I make two selections from a clip with a gap between them, play trimmed video plays the whole clip to the end, then returns to the start of the second trim selection and plays that.
If I load up an mpeg2 .avi clip, the multi-trim tool works perfectly: audio is in sync and it correctly plays only the trimmed sections.
I have enabled smart proxy on the clips, and following another hint in a thread here, I downgraded quicktime to 7.5.5 but neither worked. Also I have installed sp1.
As 3dsmax is used in so many different areas, I try to get an overview of the use of multi-channel OpenEXR files. EXR files are usually used as an intermediate file format to hand over cg footage to compositing for further processing. Different compositing packages are handling EXR's more or less comfortable. My guess would be and that is not meant as a judgment if you comp in afx, it is less likely that you use EXR files, but when you comp with nuke, I am pretty sure you do. With composite and fusion somewhere inbetween. Also, when you work in ArchViz and MoGraph you propeably prefer psd files, while when you do tv commercials and film works, you are more likly to use EXR.
The questions in the poll are meant in a general way. It doesn't mean when you vote 'Yes' that you exlusivly render to EXR.
I downloaded what is supposed to be a gimp fill pattern pack but it turns out that there is only 1 pat file named 'love patterns.pat'... I open it with gimp to view them but I get an error message 'Opening <file path>love patterns.pat failed: GIMP pattern plug-In could not be opened' how do I use multi image pat files in GIMP???

My problem is that I have a lot of resturants clients who have different menu (take out, dine in, delivery) that contain the same items over and over agian. Problem is that if there is a change in one you have to manually change it in other menus. I am wondering if there is a way to setup these menus where you change the text in one file (doc, txt, rft, incopy or whatever)? BUT the tricky part is that, each of these files have its own indepdent text & paragraph styles and that cant be disturb by the edits.

View 7 Replies View RelatedOdd, and infuriating, problem. PS CS 5.5, Mac OSX 7.3 'Lion'.I was working on three small, not-complex PSD files. Each had been opened, saved, closed, reopened successfully several times.
When loading some .AI artwork to rasterize, Photoshop CS 5.5 got hung up on the open-file dialog box. I got the spinning beachball. Not only did PS stop responding to any input, but the entire Finder did - and eventually even the mouse cursor wouldn't move. I had to force a shutdown and reboot of the Mac.
When I got my system back up and running, I could no longer load those three files. Every time I try to load them, I get this error:'Could not complete your request because the file is empty.'
Acorn, Pixelmator, and Preview also fail to load the files. Preview tells me they're corrupted. Acorn and Pixelmator report unknown errors.Only one of those three fiels was actually open when Photoshop froze. Yet all three files have been affected.Their filesize on disk is non-zero - 70, 105, and 70 KB (small files, I know - 300 x 250 pixels, and again, not complex).
Duplicating the files doesn't work. Copying them to another volume doesn't work. They appear to be completely, permanently destoryed. Their thumbnails render in Finder, but the files refuse to open.Again, the files arenot huge, but they represent half a day's work.
