I spent 5 hours on a graphic for my children's book. Saved it, interestingly enough, in Paint.NET as a multi-layer .jpeg, which I thought was fantastic as it had never worked before. Ahhh, and it isn't working now. Now I can't open the file. I've tried Paint.NET, MS Paint, GIMP, MS Picture Manager, Windows Picture Viewer, and Windows Media Center. Maybe other programs.
View 5 RepliesI was wondering if there might be a way to add the option to save a selection to the disk? when i work i create many selections with complicated shapes and areas.
since i need to use them more then once i was wondering if a feature for saving only the selection can be implemented ? this would enable me to load the selections to new projects and use them there making the same "print" every time.(my work around for this is saving a B/W picture of the shape then uploading it every time i need it , then copy and paste to a new layer
in the new project then selecting the shape area then flatting the image with the selection and deleting the internal area or the invert ) its long but works.if you can add "File Open into a NEW layer", this would save the need for part of my work around. i would then just load the save to the new layer and use it directly :-)

I saw this the save/load selection feature the other day in a photoshop presentation and was shocked that it's real :-)So if such feature can be added to paint.net even in version 4.0 it would be great and time saving too.
I cannot open a file in either Photoshop CS6 or CC if the file has more than one layer. The application crashes every tme I attempt to open a multi-layer file.

Each logo version is on its own layer in Illustrator right now. How do I convert each logo/layer to a multi-page PDF file? Since this is just for viewing, I don’t have to submit EPS files yet to the client.
View 7 Replies View RelatedI recently downloaded a Trial Version of PSP X5, and one of Adobe PSE11. For my purposes, I find PSP easier to use and therefore preferable. However, in PSE11, a scan of several photos contained in a single file can be "auto" split or divided into individual files, and as such can be edited individually. Try as I have, I have found nothing similar in PSP X5. This could be a deal breaker, as I have numerous old photos to scan and edit, and I find that doing 3 to 5 at a time is a big time saver. Does PSP 5 has this feature?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a document with three layers, nothing fancy. I want to make one of the layers bigger. The docs say use the selection tool (in my case the rectangle tool) to make a selection. They say if you want to resize the selection just grab on of the handles. This works as it should. However I want to resize my layer, which is essentially a square image. I can't see where to do this. The layer properties don't even show the size of my layer. Is there some way to open the layer in another window?

I've seen a couple of tutorials that make use of a "master layer" but I don't understand the "when & why.
I have an open file - we'll call it the 1st file. I will add a background and some other images to it that are located in other psd files. But how? How do I get them in there?
I want to add 2 images, (don't worry about getting into selection and pixels, shadows, edges, etc. the complex stuff is easy LOL) Anyhow, I have another file that I open. How do I get that entire image(or file) into the 1st file - into it's own layer - so I can edit, position, and transform it etc. as I need.

What if there's a 3rd image/file that I want to open and add to yet another layer.
Do I simply select the entire image and copy/paste it? I tried dragging it, knowing that would probably be futile. Anyhow, any and ALL advice on this surely simple procedure would be appreciated.
There are some files with at least 8 files that I want to bring together into one image. Same thing, do I cut and paste them, or is there another way?
All of these are psd files, btw. Would it make a difference if one was different, say a jpeg or tiff etc.
I am using CS6, as is the other user. When they open the file in Illustrator all the artwork is on one layer, even though the original file has numerous layers, and opens with these layers when I open it even now.I have never come across this problem before in all the years I have used Illustrator and have had no joy when trying to search for this problem.

I know that I can lay in an AI type layer and save the file as an open .PSD file, or lay it in as a vector smart object and send it as an open TIFF file (along with the original AI file), but the client is using CS2 and can't deal with VSOs. The way around it, of course, is via a layered AI file with a placed image, but what is he referring to with hte term "vector map"?
View 5 Replies View RelatedI am trying to move a text layer from one open file to another. I left-click on a text layer in one file and drag it to the tab of the other file. It seems to be successful, but there is no layer added to the other file.
If I try copy and paste then there will be another layer in the other file that I have to anchor or set as a new layer. If I anchor it then it becomes a part of the default layer. If I set it as a new layer then there is some sort of success, but I can’t edit it with the text tool as I can if I copy it within the same file.
Is it not possible to copy text layers between open files and continue to edit it with the text tool?
In the layers menu, I can import a layer from a file, but I would like to export a layer as a file.

Every tutorial has a different way of creating a mask but I can't figure out how to do it when the mask is a layer within an existing file. There's no option to save the mask to disk so I can load it into a new raster image to merge it with the image.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have migrated to a new PC with Windows7 64-bit. I installed my copy of PSPP X3 and it works fine except for two issues. The File Open dialog always crashes the program when I use it although Drag&Drop and Recent Files work fine.
Another (related) issue is that I cannot use Customize Scripts either.
I've just instaled PSPP x3 on a new computer (i5-2500k / 8GB / Intel mainboard / ATi HD5450 with 512MB / Win 7 Pro - 64-bit), followed by the 4 patches.
When I start PSPP everything appears OK. I dragged an image into the program and worked on it.
When I came to save it (using the floppy disk icon or File / Save) PSPP immediately went into the 'Not Responding' state. When I restarted it, the same thing happens, but also with file open icon and File / Open as well. Editing functionality seems unimpaired.
I followed the 'complete uninstall' process; CDS 2010 Clean-Up ver1.8.exe, folder cleanup and registry cleanup. I turned off User Account Control, rebooted, disabled my anti-virus, and then reinstalled. Exactly the same as before.
I want open a PSD-File (CMYK) and save it as PNG (RGB). The Problem is, that the colors are completely wrong (orange is brown and so on). I tried something with Colour Management and -Workspace but nothing solves the problem.
If i take a look with XN View the Colours looks good. Same problems with JPG in CMYK (MS Paint shows correct colors, PaintShop wrong).

No matter what resolution I save a jpeg at, they all seem to open at 480 dpi. I would like my jpegs to open at their native resolution. I have looked through the options and settings, but can't find the command to change this. (When I go to resample it always displays 480 dpi)

View 2 Replies View RelatedFor printing or mailing purpose, i used to re-open big .psb layer files (2-6GB) in cs5 and cs6 with keybombo "alt" and "shift" while double clicking the document in the finder window (10.6 + 10.7.5), in order to save time.
This is not possible anymore, everytime i open a document this way its white and empty in photoshop.
When I open Photoshop Elements 10 Editor to edit a text layer on a 511KB 412x292 psd photo the text layer is not shown. How do I open the text layer? How do I edit the text layer? How do I save the finished work product? The background layer is locked. I can't unlock it. I have tried any number of approaches none of which open the text layer for editing.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI add one ore two duplicate layers to the background layer. Then I add multiple adjustment layers (e.g., Hue/Sat; Brightness, Cotrast,etc.). Then I want to use the Clone Stamp to take something off of the background. The only way I am able to remove an item with the clone stamp is to remove it from the background and the duplicate layers ONE LAYER AT A TIME. Of course, I could always remove the object before I make the dups, but is there anyway to do this by going to any ONE layer and removing the object (using the Clone Stamp or any other tool)?

I have the following Lisp command that changes a selected layer to a different layer. I have tried modifying it change known layer names to different known layer names. i.e run routine and it changes layer "2" to "3" then changes layer "dim" to "dims" ect then stops.
