Photoshop :: CS5.5 Crash Resulted In Corrupted Files (Could Not Complete Request - File Is Empty)?

Mar 23, 2012

Odd, and infuriating, problem. PS CS 5.5, Mac OSX 7.3 'Lion'.I was working on three small, not-complex PSD files. Each had been opened, saved, closed, reopened successfully several times.

When loading some .AI artwork to rasterize, Photoshop CS 5.5 got hung up on the open-file dialog box. I got the spinning beachball. Not only did PS stop responding to any input, but the entire Finder did - and eventually even the mouse cursor wouldn't move. I had to force a shutdown and reboot of the Mac.

When I got my system back up and running, I could no longer load those three files. Every time I try to load them, I get this error:'Could not complete your request because the file is empty.'

Acorn, Pixelmator, and Preview also fail to load the files. Preview tells me they're corrupted. Acorn and Pixelmator report unknown errors.Only one of those three fiels was actually open when Photoshop froze. Yet all three files have been affected.Their filesize on disk is non-zero - 70, 105, and 70 KB (small files, I know - 300 x 250 pixels, and again, not complex).

Duplicating the files doesn't work. Copying them to another volume doesn't work. They appear to be completely, permanently destoryed. Their thumbnails render in Finder, but the files refuse to open.Again, the files arenot huge, but they represent half a day's work.

Photoshop :: Could Not Complete Your Request Because Too Many Files Were Selected For Opening At Once

Dec 1, 2012

I have a folder filled with 900 PSDs. I want to print them all at once, in order preferably, without having to open up each PDF one at a time and selecting print.

I tried creating a batch action by recording print. However, once it opens too many tabs (around 280 or so within photoshop) the program creates an error stating "could not complete your request because too many files were selected for opening at once"

Photoshop :: Could Not Complete Request Because File Is Not Compatible

Apr 10, 2013

I have a single user who's PS (CS6) that seems to always (or atleast, a great majority of the time) corrupt large .psd documents. It doesn't seem to matter if she is working with previously created files, or starting from scratch. If she saves a file that is larger than about 900MB, it corrupts and nobody can open it anymore. I've tried removing the entire CS6 design suite, and reinstalling it, but the issue persisted. I have about 10 users on identical systems that have never had issues, and she never had issues until about two weeks ago. As far as I know, nothing major changed on the system when this started happening. how I can stop the file corruption?

Photoshop :: Error / Could Not Complete Request - Internal File Signature Is Incorrect

Sep 30, 2013

I ran the update function on Friday, and I think the download might have gotten corrupted. Today, Monday, when I try to start the program I get only a little window with this notice:

Could not complete your request the internal file signature is incorrect.

The dubious grammar doesn't bother me so much as the fact that the Creative Cloud window tells me that I'm up to date. I don't know how to get a new download to replace the bad one I probably have.Oddly, the 32 bit version of CC works fine. 5.1 still works, too.

Photoshop :: CS5.1 File Corrupted After Crash

Feb 28, 2013

I had spent my artwork for many days with so many effort and time, and it has been corrupted after a computer crash (not PSD crash). I am using Windows 7.

-What happened after: 1 black layer (around 59 MB)
-What happened before: Had multiple saves, 15+ layers (so why it is not back to the latest save?)

I tried: Previews in PSD, Bridge, using recovery programs (none worked), hex editor, searched for temp./restore previous version files (none) how to recover this file.

Photoshop :: Error :: 'Could Not Complete Your Request Because Photoshop Does Not Recognise This Type Of File'

Jun 17, 2008

I have just got back from the Elbow gig and pulled the images off the card. They load up in Bridge but don't have actual picture thumbnails. They are named correctly, ie: IMG_3483.CR2 but they won't open!? Error message says 'Could not complete your request because Photoshop does not recognise this type of file'

I could see them on the back of the camera.

mac users... i did a software update the other day and I noticed that there was an update for ACR. Could it have been something to do with that? And why can't I find ACR in my Applications?

Photoshop :: Could Not Complete Your Request...

Apr 15, 2008

I just installed CS3

I was sent a .psd-file (actually 3) which were created in Photoshop CS3 but I can not open any of them, because PS tell me
"Could not complete your request because it is not a valid Photoshop document."

Also, I was sent a lot of .psd-files during the last years and I have most of them in my email-account. Unfortunately, I can't even open any of them either!! And these were .psd-files PRE CS3 and worked just fine in CS2 ...

I tried everything:
- Drag & Drop from Windows Explorer into Photoshop
- "Open as"
>> Nothing seems to work...

Photoshop :: Could Not Complete Your Request Because...

Mar 12, 2009

I use Photoshop CS4 now and I have a problem when I want to import (by dragging'n dropping, importing, open - I tried every way)a .png or i.e. also an .jpg:

when I worked a short time with PS (i.e. 10 minutes) and want to open a .png then, there comes the popup-window with: "Could not complete your request because the file-format module cannot parse the file"

The funny thing is: my file is NOT broken!! Because if I then shutdown PS and open it again, there is no longer a problem to open the .png-file.... after a while of course it comes back...

Photoshop :: Could Not Complete Your Request - Not Enough Memory (RAM)

Feb 10, 2012

A customer of mine has a problem when he tries to open a pdf document in photoshop. This document is only 50MB large, but Photoshop displays the message "could not complete your request, not enough memory (ram)" when he tries to open this.

It is a windows 7 x64 system with 6GB of RAM. When the file is being opened, in process explorer you can see that photoshop is using more and more RAM untill it reaches the point of just above 2GB. Then photoshop displays this message. The system still has 30% free RAM memory left, but adobe won't use this memory.

Photoshop :: Error :: Could Not Complete Your Request

Jun 9, 2008

I'm using Windows XP and PhotoShop 8.0. I've been working on a drawing all day, and I've opened it up numerous times over the last few days. I've edited it in Paint Shop Pro as well, and haven't had any trouble with it until now. Out of nowhere I got that 'file not compatible' error and I have no idea what to do. I've tried opening it in GIMP (won't open), PSP (won't open), and ImageReady.. which opens it, but all the layers except the bottom one are blank, and the bottom one's colors are wrong and it only seems to show the top half of the image.

Is there any other way I could open and save this picture? I don't have any more programs that might be able to open it, but if someone else could or something, I'd greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Photoshop :: [ERROR] Could Not Complete Your Request

Sep 11, 2008

I receive this ERROR when I try to open in Photoshop CS2 different files from the same project.

The file size is about ±52MB, with several layers and SmartObjects.

What makes me insane is that I am able to open it on ImageReady CS2 and Illustrator CS2 but not in PS CS2.

I already try to open it in Windows Safe Mode but no success.

This is vital file for my work. Does anyone knows a solution for it?

Photoshop :: CS4 For Mac - Could Not Complete Request Because Of Program Error

Feb 16, 2012

I started to get the message "Could not complete your request because of a program error" a little while back, but it would go away after restarting photoshop, so I wasn't too worried about it. But now I've encountered this one file that won't let me do anything to it. As soon as I open it it pops up with the error message. No amount of clicking makes it go away, and I have to force quit photoshop. Always the same thing. I haven't found anything that works (I tried the file info>copyright idea and deleting Photoshop's preferences, even getting rid of extra fonts, and clearing the library>cache.)

More info:
It's a psd file. There are only 2 layers on the files, one is a vector smart image.

I opened the file and was able to edit it fine on a friend's computer, no error messages whatsoever - so it's not a corrupt file. (But that doesn't solve my computer's dilemma.)

I am having trouble with completing value scale gradations. I do not have a problem using the Gradient Too. My problem begins when I attempt to pick up the color with the Eye Dropper Tool and then apply it using the Bucket Tool. The H slidder remains at the correct number. The S and B sliders do not move so gradation does not occur. I keep getting a "Could not complete your request because of a program error."

Photoshop :: CS6 / Could Not Complete Your Request Because Of Program Error

Nov 16, 2013

I am on PS CS6 version 13.0.06 x64.  Running on Mac OS X version 10.9. Installed the new Maverick on November 10 and not sure if that has anything to do with this.

In PS I get the error above when I go to File/Open and look for a photo file to pull.  Before I even get a chance to chose a file the error pops up and does not let me go any further.

Also if I am in LR5 and send a photo to PS through Photo/Edit in/Edit in Photoshop CS6 it will open it.  However, when I go to save as JPEG the folders just disappear and brings back the photo and does not allow me save.

Photoshop :: Error :: Could Not Complete Your Request Because There Is Not Enough Memory (RAM) ...

Feb 29, 2008

We have Photoshop CS2 running on Windows XP SP2 machine with 3 GB memory. Whenever we try to open illustrator CS3 file in Photoshop get following error message:

"Could not complete your request because there is not enough memory(RAM)".

We used to be able to do this without any problems untill I upgraded the memory from 2 GB to 3 GB. Dell technician came and changed the memory chips on the PC still get the same message. I went into performance monitor and not much memory is in use when this error comes up. Tried opening just one application at a time too.
Is there any patch that I need to install on the PC.

Photoshop :: CS6 3D Error / Could Not Complete Request Because Path Is Too Complex

Jun 27, 2012

I'm running into a bit of a problem with having a shape extruded in 3D.

If I draw a rectangle shape set to path over an image and then choose "source - work path" and "3D extrusion" I will get a 3D rectangle with the image on the front side.

If I draw a 3 sided polygon (triangle) set to path over an image and then choose "source - work path" and "3D extrusion" I will get a error telling me that the path is too complex.

I'm doing the exact same thing. Now, if I have 4 sides plus, on the polygon it will extrude just fine.

Something seems to be happening with 3 sided polygons. This holds true with the pen tool as well. Three points will give you the error, 4 and above seem not to.
