Photoshop :: Layer Double-click Not Working In Vista
Feb 19, 2009I am doing a Total Training class on CS4 PhotoShop. In the section on Learning about Layers I have opened two jpg files.
I double-clicked on the Background Layer of the Statue jpg and changed the name to Statue. All worked okay.
I then selected the unwanted Background area and deleted it.
I then moved the Clouds jpg which created a new Layer. When I double-clicked to change the Layer name to Clouds, the Layer box did not open but the Layer Style box opened.
I was only able to change the name of the Layer via the Layer Properties box.
Photoshop :: CS6 - Contour Editor Within Layer Style Window
Apr 6, 2013Within the layer style window under the >bevel and emboss >Contour the option displaying images or list of contours is only opening to contour editor.
It's not displaying the contours within my collection I must've tripped off setting for displaying them but I can't find where that setting is, or if it's even available anymore? I don't believe I've used it since CS 3 or4. I'm using CS6 now but contours seems to have changed.
Photoshop :: Layer Style Window Opening But Disappears
Aug 21, 2009I just began having problems with Photoshop today. I wanted to apply Blending Options to a layer. The Layer Style window opened but it was nowhere to be found! Because I could not access this window to either perform a task or close it, I had to Control/Alt/Delete because nothing else in the program would work. Obviously, it was waiting for a response to the window but as I couldn't see it, I couldn't access it. I've never had this problem before and I've just spent four hours trying to find the problem, including messing with screen resolutions and monitor designations (I use a laptop with a flat screen as #2 monitor). Can someone please help me!!Thanks, in advance, for your advice.

Jul 1, 2013Photoshop cs5.1. I don't like double click title bar to minimize the window. I don't use it, I don't need it. Isn't there a way to disable it!?
I'm unsing Snow Leopard, but I do have "double-click a windows title bar to minimize" disabled in system preferences > appearance. So photoshop overrides those settings? Maybe I'm missing something?

Feb 17, 2006I'd like to select the whole gradient that I have created on its own layer. So I cmd-click (Mac) on the layer's icon. But after doing this not the whole gradient is selected but only the darkest part of it!
With every other layer it worked so far... But not with gradients...

Jun 23, 2011I have a document with three layers, nothing fancy. I want to make one of the layers bigger. The docs say use the selection tool (in my case the rectangle tool) to make a selection. They say if you want to resize the selection just grab on of the handles. This works as it should. However I want to resize my layer, which is essentially a square image. I can't see where to do this. The layer properties don't even show the size of my layer. Is there some way to open the layer in another window?

Mar 18, 2013I'm adjusting a photographic image and am using both a filter effect and a layer style in the same layer on a Smart Object. I want to separate the two effects into two layers, so one layer has the filter effect (Nik) and one layer has the layer style (Color Overlay) (with the goal of merging/rasterizing the Nik filter effect with the Smart Object but keeping the layer style unmerged). I can make two layers and move one effect without problem, but the visual result of each effect on a separate layer is quite different from having both effects in the same layer. The Blend Mode for all my layers is Normal. Within the Color Overlay panel, the blend mode is Linear Burn.

Apr 24, 2012Using 2012 in my CUI I could set the general note label to use the double click function. When I double clicked on any label I'd get the editor box pop up. Now in 2013 for some strange reason that no longer seems to work.

Feb 19, 2009I'm using a clipping mask on a layer. The base layer that the clipping mask is referencing has a layer effect applied (in this case an inner shadow). I want to make it so the layer effect is only applied to the base layer and NOT the clipped layers.
Below is an example of what I'm talking about. as you can see, layer 1 has the base layer's inner shadow applied to it. I want the inner shadow to be hidden by Layer 1, but the clipping mask to still apply.

Jul 9, 2012I just moved Photoshop CS6, Bridge CS6, and Lightroom 4.1 to a new MacBook Pro Retna running Lion 10.7.4Camera Raw 7.1 is installed.
If I double-click a JPG image in Bridge or Mini-Bridge, it will open in Photoshop.If I select a JPG image in Lightroom 4.1 and then select "Edit In" Photoshop CS6, I will get the normal dialog box that asks "What to Edit" with the three options. The image then appears in Photoshop.
If I double-click a CR2 (Canon 5D mk III) image in Bridge or Mini-Bridge nothing happens (the image does NOT open in Camera Raw).If I select a CR2 (same camera) in Lightroom 4.1 Photoshop immediately opens (no "What to Edit" dialog), no image appears in Photoshop and Camera Raw is not launched.If I select a CR2 (same camera) in the Mac Finder, Photoshop is launched with the image in Camera Raw.
How can I fix the behavior of Lightroom, Bridge, and Mini-bridge?

Photoshop :: Rasterize A Layer With A Layer Style
Jan 16, 2009I like the way a layer of mine looks with a layer style (color burn) applied to it. I want to rasterize or do something to the layer so that it looks that way when the layer style is normal, kinda of how when you have effects assigned to a layer and when you rasterize it the effects merge with the layer.
Obviously just rasterizing the layer isn't how to do it but its the closest thing I could think of, does anyone know what I could do here?

By double click I want to open a *.TIF image by Photoshop CS2 (for certain reasons). I know how to assign an execution program to a file type in Windows XP. Whatever I do – pointing to the CS2 version – the operating system reverts always to the CS6 version. The same problem for In Design and Illustrator.

Sep 4, 2013I'm running Photoshop CC 64 on a Windows 7 64 machine and am only able to open files in Photoshop by going to File->Open. Double-clicking from Explorer doesn't work and i can not drag/drop files into the open application window or taskbar icon. Right clicking on files and selecting "Open with" also doesn't work.
I checked file associations and made sure to choose CC 64. If I right click on the shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator" which I have to do in order to get files to open between Lightroom and Photoshop (both need to be Run As Administrator), I'm still unable to open from Windows Explorer. However, if I check the box to "Run this program as administrator" in the shortcut's Compatibility tab, I can double-click to open from Explorer but am prompted with a UAC warning every time. Dragging/dropping into the open app still doesn't work.
Opening between Bridge and PS works as expected so long as both programs are "Run As Administrator"

Sep 27, 2012I've seen many messages about this problem, for people using Corel X5 (and maybe X3 and X6) and Windows XP.
You double-click on the .CDR file name, but instead of the file opening, you get this error message:
If I drag the file to CorelDRAW, it opens. Same applies to .JPG and other files associated with PHOTO-PAINT.
I love CorelDRAW, but I'm convinced this is a BUG that seems to be ignored. It's been around for years. It's basic to how Corel works and works with Windows--I don't understand why they don't fix it. This is quite an annoyance; the good thing is I can always open the file by dragging it.
CorelDRAW version is 15.2.0.695. WinXP is Professional Version 2002, SP3. Found no answer in the Corel Knowledgebase. Never had this problem with CorelDRAW v.2-12.

BUT! If I open autocad file by double click - autocad opened. Now I saw my toolbar, saw my message from Initialize!But any commands didn't work. Autocad said that command is unknown. What can be a problem? My be in Autocad version? I have student version and startup message about it.

As you look across the top of the layer manager I can see all the headings of each column beginning with "Name", "Status", "On" and so forth. The last column heading I see is "Description" but I need to go even further to the right to get to the column I need to be at but can't get there. There is no scroll button on the bottom of the layer manager which would allow me to do that.

Isn't the whole point of adjustment layers is that unlike duping the bg layer you save space on your hardrive.
