Lightroom :: How To Configure Double Click To Open Picture In Default Editor
Sep 20, 2013
I wanted to ask, if it is possible to open an image in my default editor, if I do a double click on the image? In my case, I want to open the image in Photoshop CC for further manipulation.
I downloaded the LR4 upgrade. LR4 Image shows up on my desktop, dmg icon and READMe shows up, when I double click on dmg, I get message saying unable to open. Using Mac Pro and upgrading from LR3.
I just want to open a picture by double clicking on it in a folder, why does Lightroom open the import dialogue, force me to close the dialogue, open Navigator, scroll down to the folder I already have open in Explorer, load the folder and then pick the picture I want?
I just moved Photoshop CS6, Bridge CS6, and Lightroom 4.1 to a new MacBook Pro Retna running Lion 10.7.4Camera Raw 7.1 is installed.
If I double-click a JPG image in Bridge or Mini-Bridge, it will open in Photoshop. If I select a JPG image in Lightroom 4.1 and then select "Edit In" Photoshop CS6, I will get the normal dialog box that asks "What to Edit" with the three options. The image then appears in Photoshop.
If I double-click a CR2 (Canon 5D mk III) image in Bridge or Mini-Bridge nothing happens (the image does NOT open in Camera Raw).If I select a CR2 (same camera) in Lightroom 4.1 Photoshop immediately opens (no "What to Edit" dialog), no image appears in Photoshop and Camera Raw is not launched. If I select a CR2 (same camera) in the Mac Finder, Photoshop is launched with the image in Camera Raw.
How can I fix the behavior of Lightroom, Bridge, and Mini-bridge?
I need configuring Lightroom as my default program for my photos. It was until I downloaded the 4.3 update and now it wont show up in my list of programs.
I can no longer open Photoshop jpegs by double clicking on the icon, I must go in through the program and find the file name - how can I restore the function short of a re-install which will goof up my preferences, (and possibly be an older version and need updating)?
In Bridge, when I double click on a image, it opens the image in Windows Photo Viewer rather than in Photoshop CS6 Editor. I have checked the preferences but all that it offers me is to open in Camera RAW. How do I change this?
When I double-click a .cdr file CorelDraw opens but the file doesn't. I just get an empty workspace as if I had opened Draw & closed the welcome screen.
I've seen many messages about this problem, for people using Corel X5 (and maybe X3 and X6) and Windows XP.
You double-click on the .CDR file name, but instead of the file opening, you get this error message:
If I drag the file to CorelDRAW, it opens. Same applies to .JPG and other files associated with PHOTO-PAINT.
I love CorelDRAW, but I'm convinced this is a BUG that seems to be ignored. It's been around for years. It's basic to how Corel works and works with Windows--I don't understand why they don't fix it. This is quite an annoyance; the good thing is I can always open the file by dragging it.
CorelDRAW version is 15.2.0.695. WinXP is Professional Version 2002, SP3. Found no answer in the Corel Knowledgebase. Never had this problem with CorelDRAW v.2-12.
By double click I want to open a *.TIF image by Photoshop CS2 (for certain reasons). I know how to assign an execution program to a file type in Windows XP. Whatever I do – pointing to the CS2 version – the operating system reverts always to the CS6 version. The same problem for In Design and Illustrator.
Since installing CS6 about a month ago, when I double-click on an image and PS is closed, PS will launch but the image doesn't open. If PS is already open, double-clicking works properly. This was an upgrade install and I'm running Mac OS 10.6.8.
I'm running Photoshop CC 64 on a Windows 7 64 machine and am only able to open files in Photoshop by going to File->Open. Double-clicking from Explorer doesn't work and i can not drag/drop files into the open application window or taskbar icon. Right clicking on files and selecting "Open with" also doesn't work.
I checked file associations and made sure to choose CC 64. If I right click on the shortcut and choose "Run As Administrator" which I have to do in order to get files to open between Lightroom and Photoshop (both need to be Run As Administrator), I'm still unable to open from Windows Explorer. However, if I check the box to "Run this program as administrator" in the shortcut's Compatibility tab, I can double-click to open from Explorer but am prompted with a UAC warning every time. Dragging/dropping into the open app still doesn't work.
Opening between Bridge and PS works as expected so long as both programs are "Run As Administrator"
I made my plug-in for Autocad 2012.I register my plug-in in registry and so it's autoloaded. If I open Autocad I saw my toolbar, my message from IExtensionApplication.Initialize and all my commands (marked as [assembly: CommandClass) works fine. No problem.
BUT! If I open autocad file by double click - autocad opened. Now I saw my toolbar, saw my message from Initialize! But any commands didn't work. Autocad said that command is unknown. What can be a problem? My be in Autocad version? I have student version and startup message about it.
If I double click a CDR file and CorelDraw X5 is not open, it will open and the file will be loaded. But once Draw is open and minimized and I double click a second file from Explorer or on my desktop, the second file refuses to open in Draw. I have to Restore Draw and either use the file open command or double click the file again from Explorer once it's restored.
The user is running Autocad 2010, and she was able to perform this function last week. Nothing has changed, and a system reboot did not correct the issue.
The image will open but add in brushes and actions will not be available. Open CS 4 first with same image and the brushes and actions will be there.Any way to revert to opening and image, and having it go into CS 3 with all the add on brushes available
I used to be able to double click on an image in Loupe view in Library mode and I would zoom into that image. I think that stopped when I got to LR5, I'm in 5.3 now. Now when I double click in Loupe view, I'm back out to grid view. Drop down menu suggests I just need to hit return, same thing happens. This happens at all zoom levels fit, fill, 1:1, etc. I'm running OSX 10.9.2. Sounds like a setting issue, but I've looked.
Since we updated to CC, I have a very good chance of this not working evey time I try it. Maybe 10% of the time, it will select the word/line as it should. My prefs are identical for this feature as they have for the past several version of InDesign. My partner also has trouble with copy/paste in InDesign and Illustrator as well.
When working in CDX5, PP is used to edit bitmaps in the file. Is it possible to configure CD to use a different bitmap editor so that I do not have to export edit and re import into CD?
I've searched for the Camera Raw setting that is available from the Photoshop (not PSE8) menu but it is not even available in Photoshop Elements 8 that I've been able to see. Where this setting is?
PSE 9 linked perfectly with LR but PSE 10 is not. When i go to define external editor in LR4 (version 4.1), it lists Photoshop in the top section but I cannot select it as my external editor when I use "Edit In". It also doesn't link when I select PSE as the "additional" external editor. But I'd prefer it worked as the default because I want to use Topaz as my "additional" external editor.
I am only allowed to choose an additional external editior, not the default external editor. I have looked all over for a way to re-point LR4 to PSE 10.
where I can change what my default photo editor to what I want. Each time I plug anything that MIGHT have a photo on it activates LR3 causing me to wait until it fully launches and then I have to cancel the import process and then go to file and exit.
My LR3 window is a little two large for the screen and I can't see the red X or the min. button or any other options. I also can't see/find the tools that should show up on the left side of the window. The screen resolution is set an the recommended for my computer and all other programs, but I guess I haven't tried to change it to resolve this issue.
I would like to replace Photoshop with PS elements9 as the default editor. This way I can add an additional editor without displacing PSE9. Right now PSE9 is listed as the additional.
After using Elements 12 for a months trial and then uninstalling it, I can no longer find Elements 9 listed when I right click on a picture file and select "open with". How can I restore it to my list of programs with which I can open the file. I'm using Windows 8 which list aps and some other programs but not Elements 9.
I have had to reinstall my operating system - windows 7 - and have reinstalled LR 5.3. I can see all the thumbnails and keywords etc in library but when I try to move a picture into develop (or external editor) I get the message "The folder could not be found". The My pictures files on the left hand side are present but not in bold white. How to connect to these later files.
When I click on a picture to edit (new or old) I get this message. "File name XXXX is offline or is missing" I can not do anything (edit, export, anything!) What does this mean and how do I fix it? Why did this happen? I am still using LR2.
