View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm running LR3.5 on OSx10.5.8 and recently I've lost the ability to import new photos (from hdd). My default catalog (so far I've been using only one) contains appx.33k photos and I can't import new shots. Yesterday I was shooting tethered camera and everything went fine. Today I wanted to import new files (from hdd) and noticed that "import button" is completly inactive. Dead. I set up a new catalog and managed to process todays photos but when I'm switching to previous catalog the "import" button is still dead.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI love deleting my photos from both the catalog and my disk but the default "lit up" button on LR3 is only to delete from the catalog. Why to do that and then have an uncataloged picture sitting on their drive.
Â
Is there any way to shift the "default" highlighted button to the delete from disk button so I can just press return when I go to delete my rejected pix?
I just spotted that some of my photos that I've edited in Photoshop from Lightroom are a whopping 450MB. Looking deeper I found that they are saved as uncompressed TIFF files, this despite the default save format for Photoshop in Lightroom's preferences being set to ZIP compressed TIFF files. So why doesn't this setting work and how can I make Photoshop save things compressed?

View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I want to delete a file, I don't just remove it from the cataloge, but to delete the master file, too.
Â
If I use the remove key, I get the (annoying) pop up, what I want to do: Delete from hard diskRemove (default selected)Cancel Is there any chance to avoid this dialog? Or at least to chance the preselected button, so I've just to use the enter key?
Â
Actually I've to press deletepress left arrow keypress enter.
I've a CPU with four cores and also enabled hyperthreading.
Â
But if I do an import by Lightroom it uses at best 25 % of my overall CPU performance.
Â
If it would start many low prio threads, it would speed up my import a lot, as I've import very often 2,000 up to 8,000 pictures.
Â
In my case it could speed up the process by factor 4. And that would be great, as also an Intel i7 with 3.4 GHz has a lot of work to do, so the import of 2,000 images takes in my case perhaps 15 or 20 minutes. I did not watch the time.
Â
Is there any chance, to tell Lightroom to use more threads and spread them over all the (virtual) CPUs?

View 6 Replies View RelatedHow do I change a specific file type association in Bridge CS5, namely the .psd file type? I had installed Photoshop CS6, but am unable to use it due to extreme slowness (another problem, not for this question). I have reverted to using Photoshop CS5 and Bridge CS5.
Â
Now when I double-click on a .psd file in Bridge CS5 to open it (or right-click on the .psd file) , the file opens up in the glacially slow CS6. I went to edit> preferences>file type associations to change the association to Photoshop CS5, but .psd is not listed as a file type (.jpg and .dng and a host of other file types are listed). How can I change the association if I cannot find the file type? (BTW: I have changed the file type association in Windows Explorer; I am running Windows XP.) I know I can open PS CS5 manually and scroll to the image I want to open but, to my mind, that defeats one of the main purposes of Bridge.
I have Windows 7 64 pro installed. Tried the CC on Windows 8 64bit pro and they didn't play well together. Windows 7 seems to work fine. Good enough. So, I have the 64 bit version of PS CC pinned to the taskbar. When I click on it, it opens right up. Then if I go to Lightroom 5 and open a file, it opens right up in Photoshop CC 64 bit. However, if PS is not open and I open a file from lightroom, Photoshop CC 32bit opens. Not what I want.
Â
Ok, so you say go the defaults menu and change the default opening program? Doesn't work. Switches right back to CC 32bit.

Is there any way to do this on Mac? I cannot find anyplace file and program associations.
I am new to the PrintShop ProX4 family. I just purchased my first PSPX4 software, even though I have been using AfterShot for quite sometime. My question is, how do I prevent PSPX4 from being my default program for viewing images and or pictures attached to my emails.
Prior to purchasing and installing PrintShop ProX4, all my pictures attached to my emails would open up under my Windows photo gallery. But now, they open up under my PrintShop Pro X4 program and since I am still learning the PSPX4, I would like to convert back to the Windows photo gallery.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI just installed PSE12 and want it to be the default program to open my jpg files. I know how to set defaults on a PC but the program does not even come up on the list of defaults. I've tried right-click on image and "open with" but no PSE12. If I use Browse and follow the path Program Files (x86)/Adobe/PSE12/PSE Editor.exe, there is no exe file, only the application. If I select PSE Editor, it does not make it the default.
