View 2 Replies View RelatedI am trying to change my default import location on my MAC Pro Tower, to one of the internal HD's. I have named the HD Photo Location, and have created a folder in it called it "My Lightroom Photos". I have been able to create this, but cannot seem to ber able to make it my default when I open LR 3.5. I have to manually go in and change it. Is there a way that this can be changed to make it my default?

View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm experiencing a bit of an organization problem with Lightroom 3 which is probably rather easy to fix, but I just can't seen ti figure out how. When I import photos in Lightroom it automatically creates folders (2011-12-14 for example) and I would like to change the location on my computer for these folders, but I can't find where to do it. It now creates these folders in my regular Pictures folder which gets really messy due to this. How can I change this? And how do I relocate all the excisting folders on my laptop, without having to find all the missing photos afterwards.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI was trying to load in some tool presets for my pen tool in Photoshop. Upon doing so I noted that clicking on "Load Tool Presets..." or alternatively any of the quick jump links i.e. art history, pencil brushes, etc... Photoshop would load absolutely nothing.
Upon looking to see where Photoshop was looking for these tool presets I noticed that it was looking here:
"C:Users*********AppDataRoamingAdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6PresetsTools" instead of looking here: E:AdobeAdobe Photoshop CS6 (64 Bit)PresetsTools --- which is where the presets are actually located.
Is there any way to change where Photoshop looks by default? How did it get set to the incorrect location in the first place.
When I click on File, Open in CS2 (it came with the computer) Pictures is always the Library that opens. Can this be changed? I have created a Library called Photography. That is where I download and store my photographs and where I work on them.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI recently had to delete my preferences file and I had forgotten how much I had customized my Photoshop (CS5).Now, however, I can't remember how I changed some of the default settings, such as the location of brushes, gradients, patterns and shapes, that I keep in a central location. Used to be, that if I wanted to replace the brushes, It would open to this location where I actually store all my brushes, not the default location on the C drive.

It goes to my documents, but in options I can't find anything with that path.
I want it to go to a different folder but I can't figure out how to make it do that.
Is it possible to change the default location for backup files to somewhere other than the folder in which the original file is located? Ideally I would specify a single location for all backups and tell Carbonite and my nightly mirror/sync application not to copy that folder.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI adjust lots and lots of pix for our ebay auctions. Many items have at least 5 pix so they have the same file name but with a 1, 2, 3, 4, etc. at the end of the file name to distinguish them from each other. Example: eapgcompote1.jpg , eapgcompote2.jpg etc..
The problem that I have with Gimp is every time I save/ export a pic Gimp does not save the last export location and last modified date nor does Gimp offer the ability to select from previously saved items like in PhotoShop. I have to go thru about 5 steps in order to save each pic.
Whenever I send a pic from Lightroom to an external editor, an "intermediate" tiff is saved in the original location and put in the catalogue. This is not only useless, because all Lightroom edits are stored in the sidecar but also a nuisance, as it causes a congestion on my HD.
I want to keep my "originals" directory clean and store all "edited" files in their own folder structue. I wouldn't have bothered asking, had I not come across a Photoshop plug-in MetaRaw [URL] that converts Raw-files that older versions of PS don't support to tiff and opens them in CameraRaw or PS directly. In the settings dialogue of that plug-in you can decide whether the tiff gets deleted upon opening in PS, upon closing the program or remains in the cache.
Autocad is saving files to the Temp folder. I like to keep that folder nice and clean. My question is: which file location in the options dialog box that controls that issue?

View 2 Replies View RelatedWhen I edit a photo in Photoshop from Lightroom 4 and save it back to Lightroom, the photo ends up somewhere else in the folder than it's original location. This is a hassle as my folders can have hundreds of photos. Is there a setting that will place the file back to where it came from?

How can I update the saved gallery? If you change module and double click again on the saved gallery icon, the changes are lost.

How would one set up a default import location, such as a directory below "My Pictures" or a flash drive? I don't see a way to create a macro or a preset that would step straight into a directory holding new images. In Windows, there are about six or eight levels from the top of the hierarchy to a location below My Pictures. There should be a way to automate the source location.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSince Windows normally places the pictures on a typical drive as "My Pictures" about four or five levels down from the root, any effort to import picture files into Lightroom requires multiple clicks to drill down to the "My Pictures" then (for example) year, month, date, etc.
Can I define a location as the default starting point to find the pictures? I don't see how to put that into presets. Or can a key shortcut be created to go straight to c:/users/name/mypictures/2013/April15 etc?

I'm running Lightroom 4.1 on MacOsX 10.7.4. Don't remember doing any OS updates just before this happened. I have 4 GB of RAM, 639.5 GB actual HD (135 GB unused).
In my lightroom library I have created a collection set called "Wedding". As I have 1000 photos from my wedding, within this Collection Set I have created 10 or more Collections to organise these photos (Ceremony, Reception, First Dance, etc.).
I have created a new 'Book' which as expected, has created a new Collection within my 'Wedding' collection set.
When I first create the book (before saving it) it seems like I can click on a page, then browse my Collections and add the photo that I desire to the page.
After I have saved the book, I can't so this. I want to work on my book later, and use my existing organisation of photos, and add photos to my books from these collections.
I know I am missing something basic (I am new to lightroom). I don't understand why I can't add a photo to my book after I have saved it. Each time I click on one of my other collections, a new unsaved book appears in the main project window.
I have worked out that if I copy all my wedding photos into the new "Book" collection, then my photos are available for use - but this defeats the purpose of organising my photos into separate collections, and it doesn't seem like you can create a sub-collection within the Book project.
I created a book in the lightroom 4 book module using a photo catalogue. This photo catalogue is updated with new photo every week in the library module, and I would like to be able to use these new photos in the book module. Is there a way to sync the library and book module so when I add some picture in my catalogue in the library module the new photos will appear in the book module?
