I don't see a way to create a macro or a preset that would step straight into a directory holding new images. In Windows, there are about six or eight levels from the top of the hierarchy to a location below My Pictures. There should be a way to automate the source location.

The data is there because it show up in PS Bridge but it is not in the metadata record in Lightroom and the map module cannot find it. Mar 7, 2014I've been using v3.6 with Win Vista for a long time and also use Geosetter to Geotag my RAW images with location data. Geosetter creates an XMP file which includes the location data. I then update the metadata of the image in LR. In the process LR has always created keywords using the location fields e.g Country, State/Province etc.
I've now moved over to Win 8.1 and re-installed LR 3.6 but still use the same catalog. Now when I go throught the same process as above the keywords are not created. Geosetter is the same version although the Exiftool version has been updated.

Nov 13, 2013Is it possible to use LR5's Preset and Plugin folders in a location other than in the default ones? I'd like my live Prest and Plugin folders to be in a Dropbox folder so that they would be synced in the cloud but the folders would also be synced between my desktop and my laptop so that I would have a consistent work environment wether I was using my laptop when travelling or my desktop.

Apr 18, 2013Since Windows normally places the pictures on a typical drive as "My Pictures" about four or five levels down from the root, any effort to import picture files into Lightroom requires multiple clicks to drill down to the "My Pictures" then (for example) year, month, date, etc.
Can I define a location as the default starting point to find the pictures? I don't see how to put that into presets. Or can a key shortcut be created to go straight to c:/users/name/mypictures/2013/April15 etc?

Sep 10, 2012I use different plugins to enhance lightroom (4.1 at this time). Sometimes I am not happy with a plugin, and remove it. This plugin may however add data to the catalog, which may increase its size.
I think that when you remove a plugin, all the related data (if any) remain in the catalog. So my question is : is it possible to remove unwanted data from a catalog -- without of course changing anything to the regular LR data ?

AutoCAD VB :: Unable To Determine Location Of Data In Drawing
Jan 13, 2012I have a drawing that has erp data (somehow) attached to plain text (acadText). I have been unable to determine where this data is embedded or 'hidden" in the drawing - The attached drawing has three text entities, each with erp data attached.
Most of my VBA programming is in Inventor and my AutoCAD coding is not that strong. I have tried listing the text, browsed the drawing database (vLisp editor), tried the data extraction tool and run (entget (car (entsel))) and so far have been unable to find the embedded data.
I am trying to access the embedded data because the erp system updates the visible text with the BOM item number when the BOM is changed in the erp screen (which is very time consuming and a big pain), however this fails when our drafting guys take a shortcut and change the number manually. With multiple balloons, we cannot tell which one(s) have been changed manually. I am hoping to code a macro that displays the embedded data which can be compared to the visible text value.

Feb 21, 2013We are having an issue with the xloadpath variable. We currently have a bunch of .ac$ files in the project folders on the network. We are trying to set the temp xref file location to the same folder as the temp drawing files (located on each user's hard drive).
After specifying a location for these temp files, the location is blank once the drawing is closed and opened again (which means they are in the folders on the network).
Why is this folder location resetting to default (no location given) when the drawing is closed and opened up again? Shouldn't this be the same as selecting the folder for the temp drawing files?

Apr 21, 2012I'm having problem changing the default location for templates in Application Options of Inventor 2013. If I set the location to a folder in my server, the template files aren't showing up. It's like there's nothing there. I've never found this problem before. The templates are shared on the network, so it's the same for everybody. Now it's necessary to everyone copy them locally, which is not the best practice in my opinion.
