Photoshop cs5.1. I don't like double click title bar to minimize the window. I don't use it, I don't need it. Isn't there a way to disable it!?
I'm unsing Snow Leopard, but I do have "double-click a windows title bar to minimize" disabled in system preferences > appearance. So photoshop overrides those settings? Maybe I'm missing something?
When creating selection marquees, i.e. magnetic lasso, etc., I like to "set" lots of anchors close together when tracing along an object. I can't tell you how many times I've been 98% finished w/ a tedious selection, and accidentally closed a marquee because the system "thinks" I double-clicked. I've set my double-click speed in the windows control panel as fast as it will go, but this still happens. Del does not delete the last anchor point once the selection is finished. It cuts the selection out.
Ideally, I'd like a way to specify an altenative method in PS to finish selections, i.e. SHIFT CTR click, or ENTER, etc.
Does anyone know of there's some registry trick, etc. to accomplish this in Windows w/ CS2 or CS3.
As there a way to do this in PS prefs, etc, that I've totally missed. I just can't imagine I'm the only one having this annoying problem, but I can't find a single mention of it on google with what I felt were good search criteria.
At minimum, I'd be happy with a way to "Undo close selection", so I could resume setting anchors & finish it properly.
I've been using Photoshop for more than 10 years now, more extensively in the last couple of years. I am a perfectionist, efficient and work very fast.

I don't understand why Photoshop programmers are not listening to their users and considering requested features to perfect Photoshop...but concentrating more on, like adding yet another set of filters or more polygon shapes we don't need !

One of the most important tools in Photoshop, for me at least, is the LASSO SELECTION tool. I generally have at least 15 layers for a project, you can probably guess that the SELECTION tool is my best friend.

The most frustrating thing using Photoshop is : the mouse double-click to close the SELECTION. You have no idea how many hundreds of times for the last 10 years I've cursed the Mother-F out of Photoshop...and time wasted on re-selecting again...

Don't advise me to modify my mouse double-click speed, or using the pen tool to select and reconverting to work path...those are not THE SOLUTION and you know it ! I've hoped for years now, for a new feature in every new version of PS preferences to disable the selection double-click.
When working with Paths in photoshop, I have developed a work flow that revolves around adding anchor points to an existing path and repositioning the added anchor point with the Direct Selection Tool.
The Issue I am having is whenever I create an anchor point and attempt to move it too quickly, that it instead enters isolation mode and the point is not moved. The result either having to greatly reduce the speed at which I work or repeat the movement several times until it works.

My mouse has a nasty habit of accidentally double clicking when I don't want it to and the VPMax command is really infuriating me. Is there a way to disable the double click to VPMax?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a cheap mouse and quite frequently while using the free select tool, one click will result in Gimp automatically connecting the current points to the beginning of the path. my mouse is to blame and I experience mouse issues in other programs too... mainly one click will result in double click actions.
so I was wonder how/if I can turn off the feature where double clicking would connect the path of the free select because I kinda have to refrain from using the free select tool because I don't get very far before it connects itself to the beginning.

I have noticed that when I click on any button on the Ribbon Panels it now requires more that one click to activate the button.Â

Maybe 10% of the time, it will select the word/line as it should. My prefs are identical for this feature as they have for the past several version of InDesign. More details...In my previous version of PSP, when working on a photo, the tab at the top for the photo had the following options: Minimize ( _ ), Maximize ( [ ] ) and Close ( X ), similar to the options found in the upper right corner of most windows.
However, in X5, the picture window/photo tab only has the Close ( X ) option and no Minimize ( _ ) or Maximize ( X ) option.What am I missing or am I just daft?
I found being able to minimize multiple photos in the same window useful when pasting/cloming one image over another.Or, if I have multiple, yet very similar images, determining which is best without having to tab back and forth.
I have a customize form to use in AutoCAD. If I minimize the form, I can not see it anymore in the AutoCAD application tray. I want to minimize my form and later restore it after editing in .dwg file.
How can I do that?
When I double-click an AI-file to open it, Illustrator resize/minimize it's own window. Sometime so much that Illustrator itself reply with the error: "Can't open the Illustration. There is not enough room for the window; Increase document area and try again."

If I open a file (browse for it) from within Illustrator it works fine and Illustrator keeps whatever windows-size I have chosen.

I try to draw on my graphics tablet, the brush pop-up comes up instead. Aiptek and Vista are unable to correct their problems so I need a way do disable that pop up in Photoshop (CS2). This is the same pop up that comes up if you right-mouse-click on the drawing while the brush tool is selected.
I'd be glad to disable ALL of the right-click pop-ups in Photoshop in order to work around this behavior.
Each time I open a second or third file in CorelDraw x5, the windows seem to lose the top MIN, Max Close icons. You know the ones that sit at the top right of each window. Because of this I'm unable to close or edit the work. In fact NOTHING works. I'm running Windows 7 64 bit with a TON of memory.

View 1 Replies View RelatedSome Photoshop tools allow you to change the cancel button into a reset button by holding down the Alt key. The purpose of this button is to reset the tool to its default values.
For 1 or 2 months I noticed that I needed to double-click on the reset button for it to work. Normally you only need a single click.
I got really got fed up with it today, so I did some research. I couldn't find any answers on the internet (including newsgroups), so I decided to close all programs that were running in the background. That solved it. I restarted the computer and started to close one program at a time to see if the problem would go away.
It was already 'bingo' after I cancelled the first suspicious program.
It has to do with the "1-Click Answers" add-on from www.answers.com.
Richt click the program in the system bar, select options/activations and change the default value "Alt + left click" to something else that doesn't conflict or just remove the whole add-on like I did.
I thought it would be useful to know in case your reset button is acting weird and you can't find any answers anywhere.
Is there any way to turn off the 'Double-Click to Close' functionality for creating selections (such as a Polygon selection)? I am making complex selections and accidentally double-clicking with my Wacom pen and it closes the selection when I don't want it to. I have tried setting the Wacom pen preferences for Photoshop but have been unable to affect this issue there. Obviously, I can continue to add to selections, but the premature closing frequently ends up with wacked shaped selection which I must do more work to cleanup. If I could turn off the PS double-click to close functionality it would fix this problem.
View 11 Replies View RelatedI have a tablet and I am trying to change brush size and hardness with the pen but I keep creating new layers. Is there a way to turn this off because I would like it to flow better. With the mouse if I ctrl+alt +left mouse is gives me a new copy of my layer. With the pen I get the pressure/size to come up but it is fickle and mostly just resorts to creating a new layer copy which is what I want to disable so it just does the brush size/hardness option. It seems the left mouse click doesn't display in any keyboard shortcuts.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have created a psd file with 5 layers. each layer contains a plain un filled box of various sizes. I have created some actions to toggle the visibility of the layers. The layers represent TV format shapes (16:9 4:3 title safe etc). I want to be able to double click on a jpeg and for it to open in photoshop (ok I know how to do that in windows) as the background layer with the other layers I have already created and saved to a psd file on top. Is this possible?
Also. If I have the image with the layers open can I drag an image into it that becomes the background layer?
I am doing a Total Training class on CS4 PhotoShop. In the section on Learning about Layers I have opened two jpg files.
I double-clicked on the Background Layer of the Statue jpg and changed the name to Statue. All worked okay.
I then selected the unwanted Background area and deleted it.
I then moved the Clouds jpg which created a new Layer. When I double-clicked to change the Layer name to Clouds, the Layer box did not open but the Layer Style box opened.
I was only able to change the name of the Layer via the Layer Properties box.
I am using cs5.5 and i can't find any option in the print window to switch double sided printing on/off. The default printer settings on my Mac have already been set up for 1 sided printing.

By double click I want to open a *.TIF image by Photoshop CS2 (for certain reasons). I know how to assign an execution program to a file type in Windows XP. Whatever I do – pointing to the CS2 version – the operating system reverts always to the CS6 version. The same problem for In Design and Illustrator.
i get a 1 pixel size image when I double click the zoom for 100%.Fit screen or full screen is wacky too, not fitting or filling and sometimes going way beyond.Â

View 1 Replies View RelatedEver since CS4 came out I feel like I've been less productive in Photoshop due to annoying window dock/snapping. Windows are constantly sticking and resizing themselves in ways that blocks the work I am trying to do.
Also the main image itself automatically resizes to feet the work space and I find this also an annoyance. This is my main question: How can I disable "sticky" windows? In fact if there a way to get the old classic skin back that would be great, also...
because all the programs in CS4 are missing a handle bar at the top of the window, making it difficult to find a place to click to drag the window around...which also wastes time. Sometimes the classic skin is visible underneath buttons in graphic glitches..
Finally, is there a way to disable hardware acceleration completely? My processor is fast enough that it can complete tasks faster than the latency of accessing the GPU, so hardware acceleration actually slows things down. Also the hardware code has bugs in it that prevents me from opening massive images (eg, 21600 x 21600 image crashes).
