Photoshop :: Keeping Tags When Transferring Photos To New Computer
Jun 14, 2006I know it can be done, and I think I've even done it before, but I cannot remember/figure out how to maintain tag info when I transfer files. I have a new computer and would like to transfer some photos, but want to keep the tags attached, so I don't have to retag! Please help! I've written the tag information into the file and tried backup, export, and burn. The photos transfer, but no tag information.

Jun 12, 2012I am experiencing some problems in getting a .dwg file I created in AutoCAD 2012 into Photoshop. Basically what I did was traced a jpg file (lots of detail) but now I want to bring that into Photoshop and put some color on it. I used the export option and saved as bmp but then the lines are all jagged (when I zoom in, the detailed features and various lines get blurry, I can see the pixels). Is there any other way to be able to use the work I already did in AutoCAD? I would not like to start my work from scratch in Photoshop.

Aug 7, 2013I am trying to take a handprint such as the one below and change the color of the handprint to say a light pink (or any color) but I want to keep most of the detail of the fine lines that make this handprint unique. The lines could even just come out as white as below. The main thing is to change the overall color while maintaining the fine details. I have been trying to accomplish this for over a week now in Photoshop Elements 11 and I have been unsuccessful as anything I do just totally color fills the image, which does not keep any details of the handprint.

Mar 6, 2013Our department currently uses MS Paint to place varied colored boxes for call outs on top of screen figures used in our documentation. As you know, MS Paint is not a robust image editing application, and we are frustrated at its limitations (especially not having a "non-destructive" edit capability).
Consequently, we are evaluating a trial version of PS to see how a workflow could be developed that would allow the department to use call out boxes "stored" in a PS file that could be applied in an easy, consistent manner to our screen figures (but also keep each call out box editable) using PS.
Consequently, in PS using the shape tool, I created a file with our colored boxes for call outs, each on its own layer. Now I am trying to determine how you copy and paste a box (or layer) from this file to a "working" file (one containing a screen figure), while keeping all of its attributes (color, line weight, being editable, etc.). I can't seem to find an option to do this. Is there? If not, is there another workflow in PS that you can recommend for this type of procedure?

Jan 26, 2006I love taking landscape photos and i am interested in turning them into black and white images. No problem with that bit, i then want to make the black and white more intense, i realise this will be difficult with the black but i want the white to be, i don't know slightly more silver i suppose, more haunting......am i making sense, lol.
I would also like to keep some color from the original image, maybe have a tree with just a faint coloring from the original or a stream with just a hint of the original blue.
I don't know how to transfer the original color to the black and white copy, is it done with a mask?.

Apr 6, 2013I am trying to move the layer to another ducument, to the same position. (photoshop)
But whever I drag it, the layer goes to the center of the new document even while pressing the shift key. (both of the document sized are same) I think it worked before, don't know when but now, it doenst work as I expect.
What should I do?

Jun 17, 2012If I select Edit Content on a Smart Object layer, and then select Duplicate Layer, will that put two copies of the original image in the file?
I used the Place command to bring high resolution images into a canvas of a much lower resolution. I've already spent a lot of time scaling and positioning the images on the canvas. But it turns out, I would now like to do certain editing on the original pixels of the images because of their greater resolution. Of course, that defeats the purpose of Smart Objects for non-destructive editing.
But there's no reason I can't keep two copies of an original image in a file, and destructively edit only one copy, right?

May 31, 2013How do I zoom into an image and still keep the canvas showing? I like to use my pen tool to create anchor points outside of my image, but when I zoom in to use the pen tool, I lose my canvas. I'm trying to use the magnetic free form pen tool and this is, so far, impossible.
When i try to adjust my View>Zoom Out while using the tool, the pen just creates anchor points to infinity. (This is hard for me to put into words and I hope that I am making myself understood.)

Nov 4, 2006I have several different png files, each with a shape on a transparent background (for example a white square). So for example one has the square in the upper left corner, one has it in the lower right corner. When I copy and paste each separate file into a new file, each in a separate layer, each shape appears exactly where it is supposed to be. There are NO extra or hidden pixels. SO I have one file with two layers, each from the different png files, and the squares do not show up in the middle, but in the places where they are supposed to be.
When I tried to create my own (I use Photoshop CS2), when I copy and paste, the shape appears in the center unless I put an imaginary or hidden pixel in the opposite corner (and even then, the shape doesn't appear EXACTLY where I want it and is off a few pixels).
These separate files can do the same thing in all different programs (paint shop pro, photoshop elements, etc.). SO that no matter what program you use, when you copy each png file and paste it in a new file, it is placed where it is supposed to be rather than in the center.
HOW did they do it? Again, there are no extra or hidden pixels in the opposite corner.

In order to acheive the effect I need, I need to move each layer with the move tool to get an object to stay in the same position. I have gone through layer by layer and used the move tool to move the contents of each layer. When I play the animation I see the layers in the position I put them in. I stop playing the animation the contents of each layer snap back to their original positions. I have tried using the lock tools (both lock position and lock all) but they don't make a difference. why layer positions would reset when creating animations and how to get it to stop?

Sep 26, 2006i have a client who needs a big image (2000x2830) resizing to 595x842 and saving to a .pdf file and still keeping its high quality resolution even when its zoomed in on.
So far i have resized the image (just using IMAGE-IMAGE SIZE and put in the numbers 595x842) but it has lost its quality when zoomed in although it does look good at 100% but i need it to look good even at 500-600%.

May 22, 2013When creating a new layer and positioning it in the active frame, the position is sometimes wrong when returning to that frame.
1. create multiple frames in the timeline
2. create a layer and position it somewhere in the image
3. view another frame
4. return to the original frame and the position has changed
Positioning the layer again seems to work, it doesn't move by itself when moving between frames, but remains in position.

I have my main photo with 6 layers including a tree and figures which I can move independantly and the background is the checkerboard as the main layers are turned off with only my selections showing. I also have another photo where I have selected part of it and also turned off the main layers leaving a small part with checkered background. When I have the main photo loaded and drag the other one from the photo bin with the move tool, nothing appears on the main picture. I have already dragged the Christmas tree in the same way and that worked. By the way, all the files are .PSD.
