I am trying to move the layer to another ducument, to the same position. (photoshop)
But whever I drag it, the layer goes to the center of the new document even while pressing the shift key. (both of the document sized are same) I think it worked before, don't know when but now, it doenst work as I expect.
What should I do?
I drop multiple photos into Photoshop then drag one at a time away from the tab bar in order to place these photos onto one layered image. I can do this but the photo I have dragged down remains positioned where i dragged it to and cant be freely moved to another part of the screen. It springs back like its on a rubber band. This is a problem when I wish to close the floating window and don't have the top right close button visible.
I have to return it to the tab top bar in order to open it then close the window. I previous versions of PS this was not a problem and now requires all these extra steps to solve. Its very frustrating when I have to work like this all day. I have PS CS6 on MS WIN7. Is there a preference selection I can make. I want to make photoshop windows behave like MS windows and remain where I drag them to.
When trying to place an image into a new document in photoshop elements 12, I select all-copy-paste the image (or even drag it) over to the new doc created. However, when I do this - the image does not paste in at the same size. It typically shrinks down in size. Do I have to save the file, close out and then open the new doc and PLACE it in the document in order for it to keep size? There must be a better way to do this. Basically, how can I drag a photo that is 4x6 over to a new doc while keeping the size at 4x6.
View 5 Replies View RelatedI recently watched a video of an artist working and I swear it looks like he made a lasso selection on a smart object layer, dragged the selection, and instantly created a new layer of the selection alone. He did this successively to sample parts of an image for later usage. I can't figure out for the life of me how he was doing it and I can't find anywhere that PS has this ability.
For one, lassoing an area of a smart object doesn't allow me to duplicate that selection, PS acts like I want to duplicate the entire image, if I hold down the ALT key. Also, if I try to make a duplicate of a selection with a non-smart object layer I can duplicate the selection via dragging by holding ALT, but the duplicate is still on the same layer as the original object, which is NOT what I want. I know how to use copy/paste.
Is it possible to lock a layer within a document and password protect that specific layer?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI used CorelDraw X4 to Open several 48 page PDFs (File, Open, open the PDF.) The PDFs consist of 6 images per page in a grid - no text, nothing fancy. Everything works great, except that in the CDR files that were originally created by openening the PDFs if I drag one of the original photos or any object that I've drawn in CorelDraw on one of the pages to the desktop, it doesn't move to the desktop layer as I'm used to but instead stays on the page layer for the individual page it was dragged from and thus is only visible when the original page is up even though it's outside the page area unless I manually change its layer (I ususually use the desktop as a quick way to move objects between pages faster than using the clipboard.)
This is probably something silly, a setting that I've never used -- how to make it so any object dragged off the page to the desktop area is moved from Page 1 Layer 1 for example to the Desktop Layer so it's visible to all pages, and can then be dragged form the Desktop to Page 2 Layer 1 for example.
Shift-dragging centers it, but I have multiple documents (pngs with transparency) of the same dimensions and layers in a variety of positions that need to be preserved (I'm composting some 3d renders). Is this possible?

How do I move either one roughly in place over the other so I can start adjusting edges so the two profiles match? Hand doesn't move anything.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm refining some SVG files, imported into GIMP as paths. I added numerous guides on the images and drag anchors to the guides. All the paths consist of straight lines only. The problem is that on some anchors GIMP performs the "drag curve" operation instead of the "drag anchor". As a result, my straight lines become broken (curved).
The only solution I've found so far is to apply maximum zoom level, say 400%, and repeat the dragging in this resolution. This makes GIMP work properly, at least, I'm able to "drag anchor" as expected. But switching back and forth to the 400% zoom level is a bit annoying and inconvenient.
Is there a better way to "say" GIMP that "dragging anchor" is the "dragging anchor", not "dragging curve"?
I'm creating an animated gif from a video clip (cinemagraph). In order to acheive the effect I need, I need to move each layer with the move tool to get an object to stay in the same position. I have gone through layer by layer and used the move tool to move the contents of each layer. When I play the animation I see the layers in the position I put them in. I stop playing the animation the contents of each layer snap back to their original positions. I have tried using the lock tools (both lock position and lock all) but they don't make a difference. why layer positions would reset when creating animations and how to get it to stop?

View 1 Replies View RelatedWhen creating a new layer and positioning it in the active frame, the position is sometimes wrong when returning to that frame.
1. create multiple frames in the timeline
2. create a layer and position it somewhere in the image
3. view another frame
4. return to the original frame and the position has changed
Positioning the layer again seems to work, it doesn't move by itself when moving between frames, but remains in position.
I am using the trial version of CS5 (probably going to upgrade at the end of the trial), and I've only found one thing about it that I don't like more than CS3. This is VERY VERY annoying, and I'm not sure if it's a glitch, or just a preference that needs to be reset:
When using the move tool, I will move something and it will just snap back to where it originally was. When it snaps back, it might move a few pixels over in the direction I was dragging, but it is definitely not moving to where I want it to go. The only way to get things to move the way I want to is by Free Transform...but it's annoying, when you're trying to design a layout, to have to free transform every element you want to move, first.
I'm guessing that this is a glitch because sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't...it's pretty random. I've tried turning Snap on and off, and nothing changes.
My curves layer sliders seem to have been reversed. I would like the curves layer to show the black point slider on the left and the white point slider on the right.

I have a 5x5 grid (think: Bingo card) and 25 layers that I want to randomize within it.
I've found "randomize layer order" scripts, but how would you randomize the layer positions within the grid to easily create unique cards?
What is/are the benefits of having every background layer of a newly opened document locked? I have never come across a need for it and wish it wasn't. It only means I have to create a new layer and import an image to that. Or, double click the layer to unlock it. Is there a way to permanently eliminate that "preference?" It's like entering a room with your shoes tied together.

I want to drag a layer from the large to the smaller one and have it resize. Much like if i have the option in prefs for place. I thought holding ctrl when dragging or other keys, but i can't seem to find a solution. I know there are a few other workarounds but they are all long winded.
Did i miss something here or is it just not actually possible to say drag a 4000x4000px layer into a 150x150 document and have it auto fit the layer, just as place would do if importing a file.
I have an image with five layers and I need to know the width of all five layers so I know what sizes to put them at on the web as a picture banner (I have a limited width space).
Is there an option that lets you find out the width and height of a selected layer? I know of tricks to do this, like copying it and making a new image and checking the size there, but I want to know if there is a way to do this without creating a new image and just inside your own image your working on.
Is there any way to say to PS so it will duplicate X layer to "document -1"? When I record and duplicate it saves it at strictly to Y document not to "document" -1 or +1 or +x.

The problem is that it is not visible at all at the new document once the duplication procedure is complete.
Although the layers panel depicts the duplicated layer plus the usual backg. layer, in the document/canvas itself i do not see the layer which by the way is an icon.
I am trying to copy layer sets from one document to another in Photoshop CS. It will not do it by dragging and dropping (like you can with layers). How do I do it in CS? I CAN do it in CS2 by dragging and dropping, but then the artwork on the layers still goes out of position. View 4 Replies View RelatedWhen I have more than one PSD open, and go to any layer with a layer effect (i.e. drop shadow) and try to alt + click that layer and drag it to another layer, Photoshop switches me to the other open PSD instead of dragging the effect and applying it to the layer.
The alt key is not broken since I can clone something on the canvas using alt + click.
Getting the following message when dragging layers between files - Could not complete your request because an adjustment or fill layer cannot be converted to the destination document mode. Original file was client created and supplied. I have isolated the issue- two hue/saturation adjustment layers. I can and will just recreate them in the new file, but am looking for a root cause or long term solution as it is a new client I believe will be sending me a good amount of production work.

What I would like is to be able to set the position of the Coordinate Label and Coordinate Object independently, so that if I move one in the drawing, it doesn't move the other. I've looked into Dynamic Blocks, and the "Lock Position" parameter. I can move the attribute independently, but still everytime I move the block, the attribute moves too.
Our company uses a custom Sheet/Coordinate system to follow flyoffs across a drawing, and I'm trying to learn how to automate the process. It's completely manually right now, so any changes to a drawing creates a lot of work renumbering these flyoffs.

PTPUtils.CreateLayer() method creates a new layer in the given DB. However, the code gives me an "eKeyNotFound" exception in the line p.Layer = newLayer.
If I remove the p.Layer line, the code works very well. But the entity only goes to the default layer "0".
