Photoshop :: Animating Position Of Layer Group Using Timeline
Oct 15, 2013
is it possible to change position of a layer group in new timeline? I only see opacity keyframes. Seems like I can convert to smart object to do it, but rather not do that.
When creating a new layer and positioning it in the active frame, the position is sometimes wrong when returning to that frame.
1. create multiple frames in the timeline 2. create a layer and position it somewhere in the image 3. view another frame 4. return to the original frame and the position has changed
Positioning the layer again seems to work, it doesn't move by itself when moving between frames, but remains in position.
I am trying to animate a simple 3D position change in Photoshop Extended CS6 (OS 10.7.4)Here's what I do:
1. I move my object to its starting position. 2. I move the Current Time Indicator ("playhead") to the time I want the position change to start. 3. I click the Time‑Vary stopwatch icon on the Position layer of the timeline, and a keyframe is automatically created, no problem. 4. I move the playhead away from the initial keyframe to the time I want the position change to end. 5. I move my object to its ending position.
I expect to see the second keyframe be automatically created, as advertised, BUT it is not. What's more, if i move the playhead to "scrub" through the animation, I see no movement. What's happened is the position I set for Keyframe 1 has changed to the position I just moved the object to, which I intended to be Keyframe 2.
How does one position a clip along the timeline where it needs to be? I'm either doing something wrong or there is a bug in the software
dragging a video clip(any format) from the library to the video track results in the clip being placed at the beginning. I cannot be drag/re-position it along the timeline. Also, the clip can be shortened using the handles on either end, but cannot be expanded back to its original size in the timeline. for now, I'm using the trim markers to do so. I contacted tech support & received a head-scratching out-of-context reply. Either they're not understanding me or don't care.
Photoshop CC alerts me "Could not complete your request because of a program error" when I'm trying to duplicate layer (sometimes) or group (every time) on video timeline. And I have to restart PS forcibly because alert has only "OK" button. When I'm pressing on it same alert comes instantly.
I believe there is a shortcut key for rolling up the members of a div on the timeline (kind of like you would use folders in Flash, and exactly the way it happens in the edge elements panel.) I need less layers on my timeline to cut down on the scrolling and hunting for specific layers. My coworker accidently hid hers while randomly keysmashing and we can not reproduce it. Since it's a keyboard shortcut--there's probably another way to make it happen but I can't find it. How to toggle between the hide/reveal of elements in a div on the timeline?
I'm new to Maya, so this is likely something I'm just missing or that I've done without realizing it, however...
I've created a scene with a few polygonal objects. As an example, imagine a house with plants around it and a cloud above. The plants are spaced evenly along a curve, and the cloud is also made using a Paint Effect with a Modifier around it to control it's shape using slight forces, etc.
However, when it's done and I select the entire group of objects to drag to a different position, weird things happen. The plants seem to move much more quickly in that direction, so that soon they're no longer positioned where they should be at the base of the house, and the clouds move in the opposite direction from where I'm dragging (i.e. down not up). What I'll call the 'normal' polygonal objects (e.g. the house, car, etc.) all move fine, but I cannot figure out how to fix the other items so everything maintains its relative position, or lock the whole scene together to move as a group.
I've tried to combine them, and even 'parent' everything to the house, but I suspect I've changed something like a control handle position or rotated something that now moves opposite the normal xyz directions.
A drawing with hundreds of layers should be simplified for our customer by decreasing the numbers of and renaming the layers (there is yet no target file existing). In order to solve this, I generated group filters and assigned every single layer to them (all printing properties are assigned to objects). The layer groups show the desired layer structure after the transformation (still a three-digit number).
Unfortunately, the LAYTRANS dialog doesn't let me choose layers by group filters or remarks. It seems as all the work was for the birds.
Is there any way to translate my layers using filters or remarks?
I'm trying to write a script that renames a layer, and group within the layer, then an object within the layer (but not a part of the group) and have it run in a loop.
Here's what I've got so far, the group rename doesn't work.
#target Illustrator var doc = app.activeDocument; idLayers(doc)//IRename layers idGroups(doc)//Rename groups function idLayers(doc){
[code]....
I haven't put in anthing to rename the single object yet since I cant even get the group rename to work. I suspect that the group re-name section isn't working because I'm either using bad syntax or an invalid command.
Why can't I align a single layer that is inside a layer group? The align tool would always select the top most layer group as the 'boundary' for alignment, thus automatically selecting the whole layers inside of it and align them as a group.
Is this a bug or just GIMP's weakness? It definitely reduces the layer group's usefulness.
I am trying to move the layer to another ducument, to the same position. (photoshop)
But whever I drag it, the layer goes to the center of the new document even while pressing the shift key. (both of the document sized are same) I think it worked before, don't know when but now, it doenst work as I expect.
Shift-dragging centers it, but I have multiple documents (pngs with transparency) of the same dimensions and layers in a variety of positions that need to be preserved (I'm composting some 3d renders). Is this possible?
I'm trying to line up two images one on top of the other with opacity set so I can see both.in Liquefy (CS4). One is background, the other is Layer 1. How do I move either one roughly in place over the other so I can start adjusting edges so the two profiles match? Hand doesn't move anything.
I've been making web comics and trailers using the animation pallet in CS4. I just upgraded to CS6 and am really excited about the ability to animate 3D objects in CD6. You can see two short demos here: [URL] .... and here: [URL]........
My issues is that in CS4, I could make my animations as long as I wanted. There was a fly out menu that would let you input the length of the animation. In CS6 that has been replaced with the drag-out-the-layer-to-the-length-you-want interface (of which I'm not a fan). In doing this I noticed that my 3D layers can only be 10 seconds long, I can't drag them further into the timeline, even when my animation is 20 or 30 seconds.
I've looked at the 3D options in preferences and all I can think is there I have maxed out my RAM. Is 10 seconds the max that Photoshop can animate a 3D layer, or am I missing something?
I am using Windows 7, I have Photoshop CS5.5 and am improving a bit in my digital illustration/coloring. I was experimenting with organization by using layer groups. When I did this and began to work on the colors, I noticed them behaving very poorly. For one thing, they always came out brighter than I intended. No matter how I tried to darken the colors, they always either fixed to a certain tint or just got brighter when I tried to darken them.
I noticed them interacting with the colors on all of the other layers, even with layers outside of the group. So to get around that I tried erasing wherever colors overlapped. This did not work, it only removed the mixing of colors, I still have really bright colors on everything I paint. I did notice though that when outside of a layer group, all of the colors behaved normally! Yes I know I can just keep the colors out of the group folder to fix the problem, Why do the colors misbehave within layer groups? Why do they respond with a transparent nature(for lack of a better term)? And is there a way around that?
I did check the opacity of everything and everything was at 100%. I did check the blending mode of the group and the individual layers, I had them all set to normal.
Since I switched to PS CS3, I miss an important feature that I used often in PS 7. That is: the possibility to apply an adjustment layer to the previous layer only (in PS 7: Ctrl+G). In the layer panel, a little down arrow appeared at the left of the layer row to indicate this link.
In PS CS3, I can group layers (Ctrl+G), but adjustment layers apply to the whole picture, even if grouped. But how to apply an adjustment layer to one layer?
I'm creating an animated gif from a video clip (cinemagraph). In order to acheive the effect I need, I need to move each layer with the move tool to get an object to stay in the same position. I have gone through layer by layer and used the move tool to move the contents of each layer. When I play the animation I see the layers in the position I put them in. I stop playing the animation the contents of each layer snap back to their original positions. I have tried using the lock tools (both lock position and lock all) but they don't make a difference. why layer positions would reset when creating animations and how to get it to stop?
In PS cs6 i cant find how to create clipping path for layer group (apply to folder from some shape layer with alt + drag&drop) created with pen, rectangle etc tools. Here is how it should look in cs6 but i don't know how to do that ?
A non-Group layer can be clipped to an underlying Group, but I was surprised to find that the inverse relationship, i.e. a Group clipped to an underlying layer, is not possible. A workaround is to convert Group to Smart Object then clip the SO to the underlying layer.
My problem: Because I deal with a lot of layers and groups I always strive to find some easier way to manage them and one of the things I always struggle with is getting everything in one group to stay a certain width or height, especially text.
Desired Solution: I combine each section, such as all the elements for the left column, in its own group and label it accordingly (A life saver when trying to find and edit something ). Then when I add an element to a group I would like the predefined width restriction applied to it so that no content can extend outside that area even if I take my text tool and select the entire document.
Is there any way to do this? Right now I'm stuck with using vibrant group backgrounds with the desired width or height as a guide. This isn't too bad a solution but can sometimes be time consuming, especially if there's a lot of content. If this is possible is there also some way to apply a padding to it?
I have an image made out of a stack of layers of vector shapes, grouped together. All layers have same (10 px stroke) effect. Is there a way to change it all at once, without clicking and editing every layer effects?
i have photoshop project containing several groups with also groups in it. is it possible to create an adjustment layer just for one single group? cant figure it out
My curves layer sliders seem to have been reversed. I would like the curves layer to show the black point slider on the left and the white point slider on the right.
The Photoshop CS6 Info Palette is not showing before and after in Grouped Adjustment Layers. It only shows the after values on both sides of the Palette.
The two macs with this problem are:
Mac Pro 2 x 2.93 Ghz 6-Core intel Xeon 96 GB 1333 HZ DDR3 ECC ATI Radeon HD 5770 1024 MB OSX Lion 10.7.5
The two macs that work correctly are:
Mac Pro 2 x 3.06 Ghz 6-Core Intel Xeon 96 GB 1333 HZ DDR3 ECC ATI Radeon HD 5870 1024 MB OSX Lion 10.7.5
As I am using Layer Comps more frequently, i find myself frequently needing to toggle the visibility of layer groups, which contain several sub-groups. I tried all the shift + cmd + option - click variations, but none seems to do the trick.
here an example:
Visibility Type Name OFF Group Row ON Group Button 1 OFF Text Help! OFF Shape Bg ON Group Button 2 OFF Text Help Please! OFF Shape Bg
so what i am looking for is a short-cut so that when i click on the visibility of the Group Row, it will turn on the visibility of all the layers contained.
