Photoshop :: How To Zoom Into Image And Keeping Canvas Showing

May 31, 2013

How do I zoom into an image and still keep the canvas showing? I like to use my pen tool to create anchor points outside of my image, but when I zoom in to use the pen tool, I lose my canvas. I'm trying to use the magnetic free form pen tool and this is, so far, impossible.

When i try to adjust my View>Zoom Out while using the tool, the pen just creates anchor points to infinity. (This is hard for me to put into words and I hope that I am making myself understood.)

Photoshop :: Canvas Size Will Constrain Image Rather Than Cropping Canvas

Feb 23, 2012

I just got CS5.1 at my job. This must be a preference, but when I adjust the Canvas size, it will constrain the image, rather than cropping the canvas. The Anchor in the Canvas Size menu appears outlined (highlighted?) which indicates that this is something in preferences that I can adjust.

Photoshop :: Canvas Is Not Showing In CS6

Aug 11, 2013

I'm using CS6 and have everything running as usual. I make a new file, normal size of my art and everything, but the canvas (background) does not show up.

I also have navigator open since I use full screen. So as I draw strokes, I see them appearing in the navigator, but I cannot see the canvas. All I see is the color of grey. Although the canvas is certainly there, since I can make visible strokes, it seems as if it were transparent, except I hadn't done anything with the image to start.

3ds Max :: Viewport Canvas Wacom Zoom

Jul 1, 2011

I've built a game piece (Humanoid) I've set up UVs and now I'm ready to start painting. As a start I want to lay down some base flat colors to certain areas of my mesh, I isolated the body of the character and...Tools>Viewport canvas>clicked brush>chose diffuse, saved map and began to paint in the "2D view" window within Viewport canvas. After laying down some color, as I came closer to edges where more accuracy is needed I decided to use my wacom tablet, panning works fine but when I zoom it goes crazy with extreme zooming in and out. I have the latest wacom driver, I've checked the wacom options in the control panel etc.

Photoshop Elements :: Change Color Of Image While Keeping Some Detail Within Image?

Aug 7, 2013

I am trying to take a handprint such as the one below and change the color of the handprint to say a light pink (or any color) but I want to keep most of the detail of the fine lines that make this handprint unique.  The lines could even just come out as white as below.  The main thing is to change the overall color while maintaining the fine details.  I have been trying to accomplish this for over a week now in Photoshop Elements 11 and I have been unsuccessful as anything I do just totally color fills the image, which does not keep any details of the handprint.

Illustrator :: Layer Palette Showing Different Than What Is On Canvas

Sep 24, 2012

I downloaded this vector from Shutter stock, but what I am seeing on the layer palette is different from what is on the canvas and if I try to save or export it to anything else the result comes out looking like the layers palette - almost black.

And it's only happening on a few of the objects, as you can see from the image, the apple and other leaves are fine.  It is also doing it to the pumkin and some of the grapes in the cornicopia.I checked all my layers to see if something looked weird but they all look fine...

When I open the original .eps file from Shutterstock in Photoshop, I get the same black objects.

Edge Animate CC :: Images Not Showing On Canvas After Publishing

Jul 9, 2013

I created an animation which was working just fine within animate and which I was also able to successfully export as an oam file to then be used on Wordpress. However when I reloaded the animation within edge the next day to make some adjustments, the majority of svg images I used are not showing on the canvas. Theyre present on the stage, elements and assets but when I select, only the box is visible and not the image. Theyre set to be visible (the little eye thingy) but aside from that, theyre a no-show.

Photoshop :: Keeping Some Color From Original In B/W Image?

Jan 26, 2006

I love taking landscape photos and i am interested in turning them into black and white images. No problem with that bit, i then want to make the black and white more intense, i realise this will be difficult with the black but i want the white to be, i don't know slightly more silver i suppose, more haunting......am i making sense, lol.

I would also like to keep some color from the original image, maybe have a tree with just a faint coloring from the original or a stream with just a hint of the original blue.

I don't know how to transfer the original color to the black and white copy, is it done with a mask?.

Photoshop :: Keeping Two Copies Of Original Image In File

Jun 17, 2012

If I select Edit Content on a Smart Object layer, and then select Duplicate Layer, will that put two copies of the original image in the file?

I used the Place command to bring high resolution images into a canvas of a much lower resolution. I've already spent a lot of time scaling and positioning the images on the canvas. But it turns out, I would now like to do certain editing on the original pixels of the images because of their greater resolution. Of course, that defeats the purpose of Smart Objects for non-destructive editing.

But there's no reason I can't keep two copies of an original image in a file, and destructively edit only one copy, right?

Photoshop :: Keeping An Image With A Transparent Background Where It Belongs

Nov 4, 2006

I have several different png files, each with a shape on a transparent background (for example a white square). So for example one has the square in the upper left corner, one has it in the lower right corner. When I copy and paste each separate file into a new file, each in a separate layer, each shape appears exactly where it is supposed to be. There are NO extra or hidden pixels. SO I have one file with two layers, each from the different png files, and the squares do not show up in the middle, but in the places where they are supposed to be.

When I tried to create my own (I use Photoshop CS2), when I copy and paste, the shape appears in the center unless I put an imaginary or hidden pixel in the opposite corner (and even then, the shape doesn't appear EXACTLY where I want it and is off a few pixels).

These separate files can do the same thing in all different programs (paint shop pro, photoshop elements, etc.). SO that no matter what program you use, when you copy each png file and paste it in a new file, it is placed where it is supposed to be rather than in the center.

HOW did they do it? Again, there are no extra or hidden pixels in the opposite corner.

GIMP :: How To Enlarge Image (Wide Keeping It In Proportion)

Sep 1, 2012

I have an image that is quite small, cropped from a larger image. I want to enlarge it to 317 mm wide keeping it in proportion.

Using the scaling tool I changed to mm and increased width to 317mm this leaves me with a 'window' into the top corner of the image.

I then used 'fit canvas to layers' and the canvas increases in size ok but it is empty (little grey squares) except for the top corner showing the small window into the image!

If I click on it with the resize tool I can see the whole image enlarged but as soon as i click on the 'scale' button it vanishes again and leaves the small window again?

Photoshop :: CS6 / Image Not Appearing On Canvas?

Sep 9, 2012

I have both Photoshop CS6 and CS4 and they both are not opening the image.  when I open RAW format files, they open up okay IN Camera Raw but when I am done in there and open them in PS the file displays for a millisecond on the canvass and then a black screen of hate pops up. I tried unistalling PS CS6 and that didn't work.  I also tried reinstalling my newest AMD driver for my Radoen 6870 2G card but that didn't work. I then proceeded to update to Win7-Service Pack 1 update and that didn't do anything either.

JPEGS also do not display in PS as well.  I am not sure but I think I might have to downgrade my disply driver to get this to work. My system specs are displayed below.

Photoshop :: Crop Outside Image Once Inserted Onto Another Canvas?

Mar 26, 2012

So I have an image which I have moved onto another canvas I of course know how to transform an image, but how can I crop the image Ive just moved? So lets say I have a photo of a man that is too big for the new canvas. OK I can use transform to resize it (holding down shift to keep it the same constraints), but then lets say he is still too tall. I dont want to stretch it down in size as he'd look like a midget, so I decide I only want to use the torso and head.

I would have thought I would have used the marquee tool to draw around it, Select>Inverse>Delete key

and this would delete whats outside the marquee box (his legs etc). But that doesnt work. Crop is of course of of the question as it then crops everything on the canvas.

Yes, I COULD resize it completely first, but I'd rather resize/crop it once its on the new canvas.
