Is there an option that will let me fit an image that I imported to fit the canvas that I'm already working in? I want to make it a background to a feathered cutout that I will blend into it.
View 2 RepliesIn previous versions I have been able to resize the canvas and then resize the image. For example resize the canvas to 250px x 250 px. Then resize the image to the same.
Here is the process I am using:
Duplicate the layer and then hide it. Resize the canvas (Image > Canvas Size) to 250px x 250 px. Un-hide the layer and then resize the image (Image > Image Size). When I go into Image>Image Size it says that the image is already 250px x 250px. However if I try to transform the scale the image is the original size and not 250px x 250px
The reason for needing this is I resize image size (in bulk) and the canvas size using the batch process (file>automate>batch) and actions. I loaded the actions file I used in previous versions, but that did not work correctly. I then went in to do this manually and got the same results.
I had a situation where I resized a photo to 7x7 inches and needed a canvas of 8x10 for retail photo processing. I had to enlist a friend to make this happen for me on her photoshop product. That prompted me to want to upgrade to a new software product. Will Photoshop Elements 12 allow me to do this? If not, what product will?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI have Version 10.0.1 and up to two days ago I could select resize canvas, change the pixels, select the appropriate anchor and all went well. Now, for some reason I can no longer select an anchor point. Absolutely nothing happens if I click on one of the arrows. I have checked Image mode and it is RGB 8bit. I have gone through all of the settings I can think of and no luck. I cannot remember making any change that would affect this function but apparently I did. I doubt the program just decided to quit. My OS is XP Pro but that hasn't changed. Nothing has that I can think of Does anyone have any idea what I need to do to get this to function again?

View 37 Replies View RelatedI just got CS5.1 at my job. This must be a preference, but when I adjust the Canvas size, it will constrain the image, rather than cropping the canvas. The Anchor in the Canvas Size menu appears outlined (highlighted?) which indicates that this is something in preferences that I can adjust.

View 7 Replies View RelatedI'm on a Win7, 64bit, with CS6 (13.0 (13.0 20120315.r.428 2012/03/15:21:00:00). The keyboard shortcut to bring up the Canvas resize menu is ctl+alt+c. That combination does nothing. If I add the Windows key to the combo, then it will bring up the Canvas resize menu. Could others check to see if it works for them or have I found another bug?

View 5 Replies View RelatedI need to resize the canvas for some custom work. All I can accomplish is to resize the canvas and then do a crop and paste to the correct size. Why is the canvas resize locked into proportional sizing only?
Is there another setting I could change? The added steps of cropping and pasting to get to the right canvas size is a hassle.
Gimp needs the features found in ms paint. Lots of people do pixel art. Just add some new buttons. Specifically the features I am looking for:
-Re-size canvas using border nodes instead of using menus.
-Uncluttered save feature. Remove export completely. The save file list should include all file types. A bmp should end up a bmp. Let the user set their preference to the default.
- an all in one: select, float, move, anchor select tool( with background transparency toggle). For rapid manipulation of simple objects. (the select tool as used in ms paint)
Gimp has the potential to include each and every feature from ms paint. I see no reason not to. The video game market share alone should be enough incentive to take pixel art seriously. Ive tried inkscape and pencil and graphics gale etc. Gimp is the closest one so far.
One of our biggest concern right now is animation made with Adobe Edge can't scale and resize like Flash or Canvas (and we are not talking about fluid or responsive design) Is that true? Our animations need to allow user zoom in or zoom out without any restrictions, can we build our animation with Adobe Edge?
View 18 Replies View RelatedEver wondered how to perfectly fill an outline with touching circles? I did -- after seeing the example image in Solving design effect - image made of perfectly arranged circles.
It took me a while to get the proper calculations, but -- Here It Is! A Javascript, written for Illustrator CS4 (it might work on other versions as well), that fills a selected outline with circles. Download zipped script from my site: [URL] ...., unpack if necessary, and put it in your Illustrator Scripts folder to make it available the next time you run Illy, or anywhere else (you have to browse for it each time).
Select any path -- but no live text; you have to convert it to outlines and select each character in turn. Then run the script.
It displays a simple dialog, where you can set a maximum and minimum circle size as a percentage of the selected object size. In addition, you can select either a plain basic color, or select any of your current Swatch Groups; in that case, each of the circles are filled with a random color from that group.
The script may take a while to run. Usually, only a couple of seconds for a simple rectangle, but it may run into minutes for objects with lots of curves and/or holes. I didn't have the guts to run it on a vectorized world map, to recreate Mario "Quasimondo" Klingemann's Foam World Map; but, in theory? Possible.

I am having trouble with Image/Resize/Image Size in PSE7. In the past I had a document size of 4x6. When I wanted to reduce the # of pixels, I just entered new #s and the document size remained the same. A couple days ago I changed both the document size and canvas size. I cannot get my old settings back. I even uninstalled and reinstalled the program, I also have PSE11 on a trial basis and it also only sees the changed settings. I've tried changing Scale Styles, Constrain Proportions & Resample Image, in addition to changing the Canvas Size but cannot get it to work like it did before I changed the settings.

My question is it possible to verify the result using photoshop or some other tools? How?
My college said it is hard to check if an image looks different because of image resizing or because of quality loss or because of both. He said I have to create some log files to trace the result. It is a little too much work for me.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI have both Photoshop CS6 and CS4 and they both are not opening the image. when I open RAW format files, they open up okay IN Camera Raw but when I am done in there and open them in PS the file displays for a millisecond on the canvass and then a black screen of hate pops up. I tried unistalling PS CS6 and that didn't work. I also tried reinstalling my newest AMD driver for my Radoen 6870 2G card but that didn't work. I then proceeded to update to Win7-Service Pack 1 update and that didn't do anything either.
JPEGS also do not display in PS as well. I am not sure but I think I might have to downgrade my disply driver to get this to work. My system specs are displayed below.

Here is an example of something similar. I need an effect that makes the blue bar look like its going behind the canvas, then coming back out.
When I attempt to drag the image onto the "other" canvas (that has text) my red background on the "other" canvas goes black. I'm assuming it has something to do with the layering of the image I am trying to drag...but I can't seem to figure it out.

So lets say I have a photo of a man that is too big for the new canvas. OK I can use transform to resize it (holding down shift to keep it the same constraints), but then lets say he is still too tall. I dont want to stretch it down in size as he'd look like a midget, so I decide I only want to use the torso and head.
I would have thought I would have used the marquee tool to draw around it, Select>Inverse>Delete key
and this would delete whats outside the marquee box (his legs etc). But that doesnt work. Crop is of course of of the question as it then crops everything on the canvas.
Yes, I COULD resize it completely first, but I'd rather resize/crop it once its on the new canvas.

But every-time I resize the image to 1.5 cm and the canvas size to 4 cms more (5.5 cm) when I come to print it (luckily haven't printed on expensive special paper yet) the settings change and it comes out bigger?
