Photoshop :: Trying To Drag An Image Onto Canvas Of Another, But...
Jul 21, 2004
When I attempt to drag the image onto the "other" canvas (that has text) my red background on the "other" canvas goes black. I'm assuming it has something to do with the layering of the image I am trying to drag...but I can't seem to figure it out.
When I try I get a circle with a diagonal line going through it, as a result the only way I am able to get images into Photoshop is by clicking File then open wich is really annoying and a waste of time.
Every once in a while I print that has two side-by-side images on one piece of paper. My usual routine is to create a new document that is larger than the two images--say, 10x8 (horizontal) with a transparent background and the same resolution as the two images that I'll be placing on the canvas (say, two 4x3's). Then I simply click on the image I want to move and drag it from its layers palette onto the blank background canvas, and move/edit/size as needed.
when I drag an image over to the blank canvas, it assumes the size of the entire canvas. so I just have the image... enlarged. With no background canvas. when I click on the new image (the one dragged to the canvas), all of the editing commands are grayed out. So I cannot resize or move it.I'm on CS5 (mac)
I just got CS5.1 at my job. This must be a preference, but when I adjust the Canvas size, it will constrain the image, rather than cropping the canvas. The Anchor in the Canvas Size menu appears outlined (highlighted?) which indicates that this is something in preferences that I can adjust.
Selecting (in grid view) dragging and dropping image to a new folder copies, not moves image. I want image gone from first folder. It works like that sometimes, but not all athe time.
In Photoshop CS4, when you drag an image to open it, the program opened in a new tab automatically. Since version CS5, in doing so, the software simply inserts the image on the tab that is already open. There configuring Photoshop CS6 equal to CS4 (when dragging an image, open it in a new tab)?
I am running Windows XP/Photoshop CS3 and for some reason I can not drag photos around on the screen. This is random as sometimes it works. I have tried everything except reinstalling the software. Which I would rather not do since I have a lot of add-on and plug-in's.
Here's what I have tried:
1. Reset PS preferences on the startup
2. I have used all the various Windows Screen modes using Shift-F.
Trying to simply drag one image onto another to add it is a layer. PS will not let is happen, both images are jpg - RGB 8 bit. When i try to deop the image onto the other one, I get a blue line outlinging to windows, but the image will not 'merge' and it just bounces back to its own window.
I'm using Photoshop CS6 and when I drag and drop a color image from one screen to another, all the color disappears and the color image becomes B&W. Additionally, when I tried to use my brush tool to color the B&W image, the only color that works is gray - even though I used the color picker to select an exact match brush color.
drag the image INSIDE a selection, like with MSPaint? I find it really ironic that I can't find anything on this, since it seems pretty straightforward. I've used other editing software before, and it had a 'clipping' option, but I'm not seeing that anywhere here.
I have both Photoshop CS6 and CS4 and they both are not opening the image. when I open RAW format files, they open up okay IN Camera Raw but when I am done in there and open them in PS the file displays for a millisecond on the canvass and then a black screen of hate pops up. I tried unistalling PS CS6 and that didn't work. I also tried reinstalling my newest AMD driver for my Radoen 6870 2G card but that didn't work. I then proceeded to update to Win7-Service Pack 1 update and that didn't do anything either.
JPEGS also do not display in PS as well. I am not sure but I think I might have to downgrade my disply driver to get this to work. My system specs are displayed below.

Image canvas flickers on windows 8 cannot do any editing already tried the following method what else I can do Have intel i3 processor with latest raphics drivers installed.
I've been using this setup for years & have always been able to drag out the right bottom corner to increase the grey space round an image so i can transform better or what ever. But now when I try to drag out that corner the image window flinches slightly & a line appears around the image which disapears when I let go.Also when I try to expand the layers palette down by dragging it's lower right cornes so I can see more layers nothing happens, there is no stripey corner marks on that corner & when i try click & try to drag nothing happens.
I want to know if it's possible in CS3 to drag an image file from Windows Explorer into an already open file in PS. Right now when I drag over, it opens that file. I want to have it where the image is inserted as a new layer into the existing open file. is that possible?
Windows 7 - 4 gig RAM I use expert mode hand tool is selected, but it will not drag image. I can vertical scroll with mouse wheel. I cannot select scroll bar handles, but I can scroll by clicking blank agacent space. I have reset preferences to defaults but no change.
So I have an image which I have moved onto another canvas I of course know how to transform an image, but how can I crop the image Ive just moved? So lets say I have a photo of a man that is too big for the new canvas. OK I can use transform to resize it (holding down shift to keep it the same constraints), but then lets say he is still too tall. I dont want to stretch it down in size as he'd look like a midget, so I decide I only want to use the torso and head.
I would have thought I would have used the marquee tool to draw around it, Select>Inverse>Delete key
and this would delete whats outside the marquee box (his legs etc). But that doesnt work. Crop is of course of of the question as it then crops everything on the canvas.
Yes, I COULD resize it completely first, but I'd rather resize/crop it once its on the new canvas.
Is there an option that will let me fit an image that I imported to fit the canvas that I'm already working in? I want to make it a background to a feathered cutout that I will blend into it.
I had a situation where I resized a photo to 7x7 inches and needed a canvas of 8x10 for retail photo processing. I had to enlist a friend to make this happen for me on her photoshop product. That prompted me to want to upgrade to a new software product. Will Photoshop Elements 12 allow me to do this? If not, what product will?
I've scanned and saved a paw print from my dog with the purpose of shrinking it to be able to make a stamp. But every-time I resize the image to 1.5 cm and the canvas size to 4 cms more (5.5 cm) when I come to print it (luckily haven't printed on expensive special paper yet) the settings change and it comes out bigger?
Why is it when i drag one image from the bottom panel over to another picture(solid color) i will only get 50% of the image and not the full image. Same thing when i copy and paste that image over the gray solid colored image also i will get only 50% of the image. The original image of the cat(full view) is about 24.79% and picture is 11.733 x 15.644 in size. the other image (solid color) is at 43.63% or 6.667 x 8.889". size is in inches. Do i have to resize the images and if so how as i am a stupie in this matter. The images are aligned side by side on the main panel or display.I am trying to place the cat over the gray background image and with a layer mask delete the present baackground of the cat to uncover the gray of the bottom layer.
