Trying to simply drag one image onto another to add it is a layer. PS will not let is happen, both images are jpg - RGB 8 bit. When i try to deop the image onto the other one, I get a blue line outlinging to windows, but the image will not 'merge' and it just bounces back to its own window.

View 3 Replies View RelatedDid 2.8 remove the ability to drag and copy a layer from one image to another? This does not work when I try opening more than one image and dragging a layer between the two images by switching between tabs.
Is there some default box I need to uncheck or some new way to do this?
this is how i usually duplicate a layer, by dragging and dropping to the new layer icon at the bottom of the palette. it is not letting me do that.
also, when i select a a single, or group of layers and move them around in the palette, i thought it used.
Photoshop cs4 crashes when i drag a layer under or over another layer/try to change layer order.
this problem occurred suddenly after having used the programm for years. i tried to reinstall cs4 and install all available updates, but it did not work...
I have a large psd doc several layers deep. I have a smaller sized psd file open.
I want to drag a layer from the large to the smaller one and have it resize. Much like if i have the option in prefs for place. I thought holding ctrl when dragging or other keys, but i can't seem to find a solution. I know there are a few other workarounds but they are all long winded.
Did i miss something here or is it just not actually possible to say drag a 4000x4000px layer into a 150x150 document and have it auto fit the layer, just as place would do if importing a file.

In Photoshop CS4, when you drag an image to open it, the program opened in a new tab automatically. Since version CS5, in doing so, the software simply inserts the image on the tab that is already open. There configuring Photoshop CS6 equal to CS4 (when dragging an image, open it in a new tab)?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI am running Windows XP/Photoshop CS3 and for some reason I can not drag photos around on the screen. This is random as sometimes it works. I have tried everything except reinstalling the software. Which I would rather not do since I have a lot of add-on and plug-in's.
Here's what I have tried:
1. Reset PS preferences on the startup
2. I have used all the various Windows Screen modes using Shift-F.
3. Check for updates online.

Once I go to the model space an select layers then "enter" no layers are added to the Filter Group and it gives me an error message that says "unable to modify layers while another command is active".

I've been using this setup for years & have always been able to drag out the right bottom corner to increase the grey space round an image so i can transform better or what ever. But now when I try to drag out that corner the image window flinches slightly & a line appears around the image which disapears when I let go.Also when I try to expand the layers palette down by dragging it's lower right cornes so I can see more layers nothing happens, there is no stripey corner marks on that corner & when i try click & try to drag nothing happens.
I want to know if it's possible in CS3 to drag an image file from Windows Explorer into an already open file in PS. Right now when I drag over, it opens that file. I want to have it where the image is inserted as a new layer into the existing open file. is that possible?

Same thing when i copy and paste that image over the gray solid colored image also i will get only 50% of the image. The original image of the cat(full view) is about 24.79% and picture is 11.733 x 15.644 in size. the other image (solid color) is at 43.63% or 6.667 x 8.889". size is in inches. Do i have to resize the images and if so how as i am a stupie in this matter. The images are aligned side by side on the main panel or display.I am trying to place the cat over the gray background image and with a layer mask delete the present baackground of the cat to uncover the gray of the bottom layer.

I upgraded from PSE 10 to PSE 12 this week and am confused about a change in behavior.
I create a large blank document (3600x3600 pixels, scrapbook size) and then drag other items onto it to create new layers.
In PSE10, the items I dragged in kept their original size. In PSE 12, they get resized to match the size of the document I'm dragging them on to.Is there a setting I need to change? Can't find it.
