View 7 Replies View RelatedI was recently at a family reunion and was just casually snapping candid photos.
The only shot of a particular out of town relative is very blurred .
Is there any way to bring this into focus?
It does not need to be perfectly focused, but better than the orginal.
When I scan my photos they are not always straight. I use Image-RotateCanvas-arbitrary command to change the percentage of rotation to straighten image.
I automated the process in "actions" menu to rotate canvas 0.5%CW and 0.5%CCW.
I decided to play a little bit with newly made "action" hotkeys to get used to them.
Now the problem
When I rotated the image 5 times CCW and 5 time CW I noticed that it became significantly distorted, blurred. I tried manually do the same (without automation) same result. With every additional step of rotating, image becomes more distorted, so it is not faulty automation...
Question:
Is it normal?
P.S. I scan images at 24 bit color, 150 resolution.
I'd like to write an article for my blog about increasing the size of the images without getting it blurred or pixelated.
I usually use a combination of facet and despeckle to improve the resolution of the oversized image.
I've also tried a plugin that supposedly resizes the images and worked on a fractal based concept, but to be honest the results were not very convincing.
I'm new at this and trying to remove arm hair from this image using the smudge tool (30%, normal), it worked except the arm looks too blured now. How do I bring back some texture ?

View 13 Replies View RelatedI work for a Transit Agency and I am creating new scheduling brochures along with maps. I have attached an image of the brochure so that you can see what is going on. I created the maps using Paint.Net. The schedule was created in Microsoft Excel. When I tried to copy and paste it directly from Excel to Paint.net, it wouldn't allow me to do it. So, what I did was take the Excel spreadsheet and copy/paste it to regular Microsoft Paint and saved it as a picture, then using Paint.net under layers tab / import image , it transferred it to my map, however if you look closely the wording is a little blurry and the column on the far right is really blurry.
is there any way to fix this, or would there be an easier approach of transferring it to my map using Paint.net and by-passing Microsoft Paint ?

how to create an image to make it look like its in motion? I am trying to create an image of an arm at 45 degrees that rotates another 45 degrees that shows motion (I know the attached file is not very useful but it is the same style of motion on the butterfly's wings that I am after).
Usually the starting image is a very faint colour and the last should be solid colour but is there a way to blur/blend the colours in between to show where the image originally was and where it is now?
When you open a file or import a file the preview window image is blurred. It was not that way in X5.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have my own large format printer which accepts 54" wide rolls of media. I plan on printing a number of photos on canvas, and am wondering about a few things:
- If I wish to make a 40" x 30" print, what is the correct way to re-size the image in PhotoShop (CS6)? Out of my camera, the images are 4592 x 3448 px, so do I simply punch in 40" x 30" in the "Image Size" menu, and then select "Bicubic Smoother (for enlargement)"? (see attached image). Or should I just re-size the image in the RIP software?
- Some of the images were shot in Raw, but some as JPG. For the ones that were shot Raw, should I also save them as JPGs before printing, or is TIF better?
I am thinking of creating a few animated gifs for standard sized banners. I see alot of banners having random people in them, or cars or animals, etc.. anything that will make the banner look more professional and to the point. how do you get those images? Surely the artist doesn't go around the street snapping photos of people and then transfer them onto to the computer. Is there a database of these pics people can use?

View 2 Replies View Relatedtook thousands of photos. Unfortunately a piece of lint got caught on the inner lens of my camera and caused a smudge/lint line to appear about 1/4 of the photos I took. Its relatively easy to pshop out the smudge mark when the defect area is a solid, or nearly uniform area such as sky (clone or bandaid tool, etc). But when it gets into something more complex, such as buildings or otherwise, its going to need a little more manipulation. I am curious to see how members of this community would fix this. I've attached a rather tame image so as to demonstrate the problem. You can see the obvious anomaly in the upper 1/3 of the right margin.
View 9 Replies View RelatedI have read and understood the Photomerge tool (and tried the process with the sample images that are in CS2). All this seems to be fine except for a couple of things...
1. To achieve 180 degrees I am going to need more than 3 images right? (overlapping each image by 15%-40%).
a. Can Photomerge in CS2 work with more than 3 images, or is 3 the maximum??
If 3 is the maximum, then it wouldn't be difficult to just increase the canvas width and add on? Or not? Or do 2 sets of 3 then hand stitch those together? What is the best process for achieving 180??
Also, I like to shoot just before sunset, usually. If I did a 180, say with the sun setting in the right hand side of the image, then panned to the left snapping as I go, I am obviously going to get different gradients of blue in the sky, (lighter sky to the right, a darker sky to the left)
Should I shoot in Manual or Aperture?
How will I get the tones in the sky to be seemless?. As long as I overlap by 15% - 40% all should be good?
What is the best process for achieving equal exposure in all shots?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm working for a client watermark his images. He has designed a watermark in PS CS6 that extends across the bottom of the image, the full width of the image. Like this:
Obviously, the images to be watermarked are all different widths and the watermark gets scaled up or down accordingly which is not the desired effect. On tall/thin images, the watermark is barely visible. Vice versa on wide or square images. I have tried many different widths of the watermark based on the widest and thinnest images. It works, but still not the desired effect for my client.
I've installed the Adobe Watermark Panel, but it seems that it wants to resize images with a width/height box on the right of the image quality and ppi boxes. (I might be reading that wrong though)
I've also tried several freeware programs. All work fine, but my client doesn't seem to think so.
So the question is, can I apply a watermark that doesn't get scaled? I know image height is a factor. I could write my own application to do it, but this seems like a re-inventing the wheel issue. I think the watermark should be scaled in height to a percentage of the image being watermarked and any excess width should be cut or truncated.
Is it possible to correct a digital image from an old scanned slide, which has been scanned back to front, using Photoshop Elements 10?
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have Photoshop Elements 10, and am trying to print a black and white drawing that was scanned, then sent to me via email. When I print out this image, it has an overall green hue and I cant figure out why. I have the black/grayscale box checked in the advanced print settings, but that has still not fixed my problem.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI am taking photos of parts for a client. I've got a pretty good method down with correcting the originals to achieve the results I need. First here is the original. I'm using different color temp light sources, the walls of the photo box are slightly gray, and the table the parts are sitting on are white. So i'm trying to achieve the most accurate camera settings to get the original below:
After doing levels and exposure correction in PSD, I get what I want. I played around with the channel mixer and color balance to see if I can properly correct the object so it looks like gray steel, and not having that slight yellow/green tint to it.
The only way I could figure it out is to just turn off the hue saturation and it gives it a somewhat decent result as seen below: But suppose my object is made of gold, or has a piece of plastic on it that's red; if so, then turning off the saturation will not work.how I can use other controls in PSD to achieve a more accurate result?
Let's say you got a picture and you start editing it:
DesaturateAdd some noiseAdd some random dustAdd some vintage colorsSo you end up with a picture (let's say 1000x800px, 72dpi) that looks fine on your screen with 100% zoom. But you don't want to use this picture for a blog or something, you just want to print it. If you print it with 300dpi then most of the effects (noise, dust...) won't show on paper because the picture is printed around 25% of what you see on the screen.
Question:
Is there a technique so you can control whatever effects you add to your picture when the picture is going to be printed? I could resize the 72dpi picture after all effects applied around 400% and then print it but is resizing the best solution?
how I might go about applying an old style 3d stereoscopic effect onto an image? The effect doesn't have to actually function, is just required to give the effect of the kind of red and green cinema technique.

I was wondering if anyone knows of a plugin, or a way of realistically creating, the technique of a standard SLR filter, to a CGI image.
I have seen a couple of big companies who produce images that seem to have a distinct style, and it seems to be the colour levels either are too saturated or over colourfull, yet they are very good and a have a nice feel to the images.
I think they must use a lens filter type plugin, but i cant seem to find one on the net..
i wanna know which is the best technique to remove noise in Photoshop CS3

I know the Advanced area exists, and is rarely visited, and is good for those already 'advanced', but maybe something up front in the forum would help the average guy or gal. I've been doing digArt for about ten years or so, and there is not a day goes by, where I don't pick up something from someone else, new to the medium or not.
