300 pics need to be sorted chronologically the batch renamed 01-300. What's the best way? Photoshop? Bridge (spent 4 hours in bridge and it qite during batch rename, thus lost the whole new order) or lightroom?
View 4 Replies View RelatedI just did a batch rename in CS2 on my Mac from 001 to 300. Everything worked fine except for one thing. Right in the middle of the 300 images PS added the following - 140 (1) to 179 (1). Does anyone know why parentheses were added to that group of images?
View 2 Replies View RelatedI take pictures of a swim team and I keyword tag each image with the swimmers name. I would like to batch rename and save in a new folder the files so they have the original filename and then the keyword name.
I don't see that as an option in the metadata drop down or any of the other drop downs. Is there a way to do it? I have exported it and included the metadata information and from my PC I can see it in the lower picture data, but I am sharing with a Mac user and it is easiest if the name of the swimmer is in the filename. I have over 1100 pictures and renaming them manually would be too time consuming.
I would like to automate of saving, renaming, closing open documents then placing them in a seperate folder after I'm done adding watermarks to my images. The problem I'm coming across is that the action i have renames all the files using the same name (whatever example/file I used when I recorded the action).
So even though the original file names are 123.jpg, 124.jpg, 125.jpg and I want them to be renamed as 123c.jpg, 124c.jpg, 125c.jpg all of them gets renamed 122c.jpg.
I'm not sure how to do a screen shot, so here is the skinny on what I have done...
Under the Batch window I marked the following:
Play:
Set: Set1
Action: Watermark Save & Exit
Source: Opened Files
Destination: Folder Desktop/Watermarked Pictures
Override Action "Save As" Commands (box is checked)
File Naming: "Document Name+c+extension
Starting serial #1
Errors: Stop for Errors
what I did wrong??
I use CS4 if that matters.
Since there's no way to organize fonts in Photoshop without 3rd party applications, if we can "indirectly" organize them by renaming them?
Windows 7 (64) on this end.
I have some photos that I need to partially rename. Example > Currently they are named ABC_0001, ABC_0002, ABC_0003, etc. I only want to change the first part of the name. So I need the names to DEF_0001, DEF_0002, etc. It important not to change the numbers.
The PS Elements Editor "rename multiple files" gives me a lot of options to rename them but it seems there is not a way to leave the numbers in the file names intact while just changing the first few letters.
i'm trying to think of a workaround to an action I want to create. PS7 won't let me do it directly. I'm trying to create a Droplet that proforms it's action on the image and then automaticaly saves a new RENAMED version of the file in the same location as the original. The problem is in the droplet dialog box, PS will let you "Save and Close" the file or Rename and save to a SPECIFIC folder. I'd rather not specify a specific destination. And, If I just choose "save and close", then I have to work off of a copy of the image and then rename it by hand.
There is no renaming function in actions and I don't want any dialog boxes to come up and stop the action.
When exporting files from Illustrator, I get a ton of layers named <path> and <group>. I want to quickly rename these layers in Photoshop.
I'm using Alt-[ & -] to move up and down my Layer palette, but I haven't figured how to change a layer name other than double-clicking on the name (which takes a hand off the keyboard). Is there any way to rename a layer by using the keyboard only?
I have a 4000 images (spread across 5 folders) who's file names are all prefixed with 'Rex_'. I need to remove this prefix but would rather not do it manually. Is there an automated way to do this, where the existing file name remains the same, but the Rex_ is deleted?
I have looked into the Batch Rename element of Bridge but that doesn't seem to cover the deletion of existing file name sections. I am working on a PC using CS6.
I working to modify one of the templates for the Web Photo Gallery, and am wondering if there is a way to designate in the template what to name the index page besides index.htm or index.html.
I'm working to create a site that will have many photo galleries. And while it does work to have each gallery in its own sub directory with the main gallery page named index.htm. I would prefer to have the main gallery page renamed during the automation process for easier archiving.
When i rename files in batch in Bridge CS6 the extension from my files is deleted, leaving me with exec files. Sometimes the new name is given but the extension disappears and other times the new name i wanted to give my files appears in place of the extension.
I have had this problem for a while in combination with a cache problem (every time when opening bridge it asked me to purge the cache). I seemed to be solved by renaming the cache folder cache_old and creating a new one but now the batch renaming problem has returned.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI've been trying to reproduce this color blind conditionfor a long time now and I still didn't figure out how I can do this. I've searched for cluts but didn't find any, only this, which has some previews of them, but no any files I can load into Photoshop's Color Lookup adjustment. I've looked into Pixel Bender plugin, but I'm using CC so that doesn't work either... I've also tried it with the Index Color mode, but that really messes up my image as it has a really low color range (256). I've even tried reproducing the same effect with adjustments, channels, etc, but didn't figure it out.
Since there's a way to perfectly color proof images with this condition, I'm guessing this has to be some kind of ICC profile or something similar. Is there a way I can use it as a color profile?
How do you add a custom working space profile to the profile list in CS6.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI often run actions that have modal control for certain steps turned on, in particular, when I want to give a layer a custom name. Prior to CS6, I'd run my action, the window would open allowing me to rename my layer, and then it finishes my action. However, in CS6, it seems to ignore the modal control button selected, puts in whatever the default info is and continues on.

The Photoshop scripting guru Paul R over at RetouchPro has created a really cool script to batch rename and number selected Photoshop layers. I haven't found anything similar on the Illustrator side.
some Illustrator scripting genius could come up with a similar script for Illustrator. Would it be terribly difficult to convert this into something Illustrator could use? URL....
I want to rename multiple files, but each time I try, it creates two copies of each file, and as they are numbered sequentially, I cannot just delete the extra ones at once. I don't understand why it does this, and how I can avoid it!

View 9 Replies View RelatedFor a monthly magazine on uncoated paper, our workflow is as follows:
- convert every photo to uncoated cmyk (PSO Uncoated) + apply some corrections to look nice in this profile
- apply a fixed correction curve to the photo's
- (resize images + apply proper sharpening for print)
- export pdf: convert colors to destination, preserve numbers
The correction curve step is critical. Without it, everything is printed much too dark.Unfortunately our printer can't provide us with a correct profile for the paper that is used. That's why the correction curve in photoshop is needed. The profile + the correction curve give a good, predictable result.
However i don't like the workflow with the correction curve, because only photoshop links can be corrected. We would also like to put a digital version of the magazine online, so i have to replace all links if i won't to have them displayed correctly.
Can i somehow combine the icc profile with the correction curve into a new icc profile?I did some research and found about "Custom CMYK" in photoshop (see screenshot), but i think an existing profile (PSO Uncoated) can't be edited or replicated in this dialog box.
I batch renamed a bunch of photos in adobe bridge and renamed them as SaraJ._01 etc. and they were saved as a strange file type that I can no longer open?? Document type just says _35 or whatever number the file is. They are just white files no thumbnail preview nothing...

View 3 Replies View RelatedAs I right click to rename a folder in the library folder panel, I get a window saying 'This is not a legal folder name. Certain special characters are not permitted.' View 3 Replies View RelatedI have been recording some narration in little chunks (for easier editing if needed), but they are called uvs130819-011.WAV. I understand about the date, but I would rather have them named by the first few words of the "paragraph" read, or something else that would make more sense to me.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI am finding that if I select a range of files to rename that already have numbers at the end, say 1 - 12, it is changing the order of the files and seeing the files numbered 10 - 12 before the file numbered 2. I am pretty sure it didn't work this way in X3.
I don't have X3 installed any longer.
I have written this code to check the name of the layouts and determine if the are to our company standard or not and if they are close enough to determine what they should be rename them. I create a drawing with severl differant layout names to test the code but I am getting inconsistent results. The drawing I created has 9 layouts named M2_03, M2_04, m3_01, m3_02, tm01_25, tm2.05, tm2.06a, TM2_01, and TM2_02A. It seems to be crashing on the tm2.06a but I can not figure out why.
Public Class StandFix <Autodesk.AutoCAD.Runtime.CommandMethod("StandFix")> _ Public Sub StandardFixer() Dim ErrString As String = "" ErrString = ErrString & StandardizeLayoutNames() MsgBox(ErrString, MsgBoxStyle.OkOnly, "Non-Standard Entities Found") End Sub
[Code] ....
why sometimes it work and checks all the layouts, but most of the time it only does some of the layouts.
