Illustrator :: Assign Profile To Untagged AI-File?

Jun 11, 2013

I have an issue when assigning a profile to an untagged ai-file. When doing so, and choosing "Save" (NOT "Save As") the file remains untagged when reopening it again.

Try it yourself: Create a new file in Illustrator, and select Edit > Assign Profile, and then choose "Dont Color Manage This Document". Choose Save As, select Ai-file, and in Illustrator Option choose NOT to Embed ICC Profile. Close the file, and reopen it again. Now you should be promted with a Missing Profile warming. Assign a profile, and Save** (NOT "Save As") the file. In my opinion the file should now be embedded with a profile, but when reopening the file, your again promed with a missing profile warning.

**This doesnt happen it you instead of "Save" choose "Save As", or if the ai-file you start wih doesn't miss the profile, but just has a wrong profile.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Add Assign Pipe Network To Profile View Band In 2011

Mar 21, 2013

I'm trying to add assign a Pipe Network to a profile view Band in Civil 3D 2011. I was using COM to add profiles to bands because I couldn't figure out how to do it in .NET. But when it comes to pipe networks I don't see how you can do that with COM. How the .NET implementation is supposed to work? Here's the code I have that works for COM, except for the pipe networks. I essentially need to assign the correct pipe network to the band.

Photoshop :: CS6 Convert To Profile

Sep 26, 2012

I've discovered what looks as a little bug to me in CS6 (as compared to PS CS3 and CS4).

When using Convert to profile, AdobeRGB->AdobeRGB "conversion" bugs in the preview. Since there's no actual conversion, the preview should remain the same but instead shows a strong contrast shift.

Here's my workflow:

- Working color space : sRGB (I use Europe General Purpose 3 preset)
- Open a document in AdobeRGB (original profile preserved, no prior conversion to sRGB), no soft-proofing activated
- I run "Convert to profile", Source profile is Adobe RGB. Now if I go for Destination profile: AdobeRGB (which is of course "pointless"), I see a color shift in the image preview. If I run the conversion, the image reverts to normal, hence this just affects the preview. Note that converting to other profiles like sRGB doesn't give a wrong preview.

"Convert to profile" settings are Engine: Adobe (ACE), Intent: Relative Colorimetric, Use black point compensation and Dither. Altering these settings doesn't correct the bug I'm mentionning.

This visual preview bug only affects AdobeRGB -> AdobeRGB conversion (again, yes, I know, it's pointless)

I've tested the issue on two separated machines (Windows 7, PS CS6 x64)

Photoshop :: Convert To Profile

Mar 9, 2004

Here's what I'm using:

PS7, Adobe 1998 working space, monitor calibrated with ColorVision Spyder, Win XP Home.

When I have finished adjusting my pictures I Convert to Profile as sRGB. There's little or no change in the image itself after doing it, as one would expect. But here's the kicker, when I "save for web" the preview image has a distinct magenta cast to it.

Am I right in thinking that the preview image should look exactly like my PS image as they are both sRGB?

Is there a setting somewhere that says "Add magenta cast" :O

Photoshop :: Convert To Profile

Apr 20, 2008

when I convert an image from Adobe RGB to sRGB. What I see is no change whatsoever, that is visible to my eye. My working space is Adobe RGB, but when I convert an image to sRGB in order to send it for viewing on a monitor, as for example when attaching a lower-resolution version to an e-mail, I see no difference in the image on my calibrated (Spyder2) monitor.

I start with an image taken with my Canon 40D with the color space set for Adobe RGB, as

I print most of my good images and do not post images on the Web with any frequency. As

I mentioned, my Photoshop CS3 working space is also Adobe RGB. When I do use Convert to Profile... and choose sRGB, I can see no change at all. I have tried a different copy of the sRGB profile (sRGB IEC61966-2.1), properly installed in
C:/Windows/System32/Spool/Drivers/Color, but there is no difference.

Also have deleted some old icc profiles from the same directory.

But these additions and deletions do not show up in Photoshop - specifically " imagemodeconvert to profile "

Any thoughts of how to get Photoshop to reset the profiles.

Tried deleting everything out of the Photoshop settings under Documents and Settings to no avail.

Photoshop :: Use Protanopia (Color Blind) Profile As Regular Profile That Can Be Converted?

Sep 30, 2013

I've been trying to reproduce this color blind conditionfor a long time now and I still didn't figure out how I can do this. I've searched for cluts but didn't find any, only this, which has some previews of them, but no any files I can load into Photoshop's Color Lookup adjustment. I've looked into Pixel Bender plugin, but I'm using CC so that doesn't work either... I've also tried it with the Index Color mode, but that really messes up my image as it has a really low color range (256). I've even tried reproducing the same effect with adjustments, channels, etc, but didn't figure it out.

Since there's a way to perfectly color proof images with this condition, I'm guessing this has to be some kind of ICC profile or something similar. Is there a way I can use it as a color profile?

Photoshop :: Combine ICC Profile With Correction Curve Into New ICC Profile

Dec 21, 2012

For a monthly magazine on uncoated paper, our workflow is as follows:

- convert every photo to uncoated cmyk (PSO Uncoated) + apply some corrections to look nice in this profile
- apply a fixed correction curve to the photo's
- (resize images + apply proper sharpening for print)
- export pdf: convert colors to destination, preserve numbers

The correction curve step is critical. Without it, everything is printed much too dark.Unfortunately our printer can't provide us with a correct profile for the paper that is used. That's why the correction curve in photoshop is needed. The profile + the correction curve give a good, predictable result.

However i don't like the workflow with the correction curve, because only photoshop links can be corrected. We would also like to put a digital version of the magazine online, so i have to replace all links if i won't to have them displayed correctly.

Can i somehow combine the icc profile with the correction curve into a new icc profile?I did some research and found about "Custom CMYK" in photoshop (see screenshot), but i think an existing profile (PSO Uncoated) can't be edited or replicated in this dialog box.

Photoshop :: Convert To Profile And Soft Proofing

Nov 19, 2012

I. Per the instructions of the printer who's printing my work, I've converted my image profiles to Dot Gain 20%. I would like to make sure that what I'm seeing on my screen will a) be a close match to what she (the woman printing the work) will see on her screen; and b) give me a sense of how the printer (Espson Stylist Pro 4800) will interpret and print the work.I should change my Proof Setup to Dot Gain 20%, no?

II. I also need to make a set of jpegs that will be seen on a variety of screens, each of a different make and calibration. These jpegs need to be as convincing a match to the print as possible, with allowances, of course being made for paper, ink, etc. The match has to be close. Is there a standard for softproofing that will allow me to see what's likely to appear on a given screen. A tall order, I know. Wondering if I should just inform the viewers to view the jpegs with their monitors set to a certain color profile--or if I should send them a monitor profile along with the jpegs.

1. create a cmyk document with color profile 'Euroscale coated v2' and fill the document with the color 86, 32, 14, 0
2. change the color profile to 'Euroscale Coated v2' -> the values change to 73, 29, 16, 0, no color change on the monitor
3. create a smart object -> the values stay the same, no color change on the monitor
 4. create a second document like in step 1
5. create a smart object -> the values stay the same, no color change on the monitor
6. now change the color profile to 'Euroscale Coated v2' -> the values stay the same, this time we have a color change on the monitor.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Profile Geometry Points Of Superimposed Profile To Alignment Label

Mar 1, 2013

I have an alignment label that I normally use to show the PVI's of a profile in the plan view.

This is a little unusual, but in a specific case I wanted to design my profile at one alignment, but show it at another.  I designed my swale profile in the pathway profile view and then superimposed the swale profile on the swale profile view.  I then went back to the swale alignment to add these labels.

It's a no-go AFAICT.  The only profile available for me to select for these labels is the original ground profile from the surface.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Creating Profile Bandsets With More Than 2 Profile / Surface Elevations Shown

Mar 14, 2013

Im creating a Profile Bandset and would like to have multiple surface/profile elevations shown, ie: EG, FG, Back of Curb and Back of walk. While creating this bandset I see that the text component editor properties only has code for profile 1 elevation and profile 2 elevation in the properties area, which the code for this looks like below.

<[Profile1 Elevation(Uft|P2|RN|Sn|OF|AP)]>
<[Profile2 Elevation(Uft|P3|RN|AP|Sn|OF)]>

Ive tried to write my own code using the profile 2 as an example but it doesnt seem to work as a 3rd surface/profile and only seems to mimic the profile 2 elevation when placed in the band

My questions are as follows

1) does Civil 3d only allow 2 surface elevations in any band set? if it does allow more profiles/surface elevations what am i missing to create it?

2) if Civil 3d does alow for multiple surfaces to be shown in the band set how do i get the text component editor to supply the extra profile elevation codes? or would i need to create from scratch

3) if i need to write the code from scratch does any listing of the codes and meanings of each code ie what does RN, Uft, Sn and so forth do and mean .

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Created Profile From File But Cannot Create Profile Report

Jan 17, 2012

I am working C3D 2012.  I have a proposed alignment and profile design by another firm that I had to tranfer into C3D.    I had no problem getting the horizontal alignment to display from a text file.  I tried to do the same with the profile by using the 'create a text file and create the profile from file' command.  I got the POB, PI's, and POE to display.  I then defined the VC.  I wanted to verifiy that the profile was indeed accurate compared to what we were provided.  So I tried to execute a profile report PVI Station and Curve Report - I keep getting an error that "No FG profiles in dwg".

I know the Proposed profile is indeed set to proposed in the properties.  I have noticed that the icon next to the profile I create from the text file is different than the profiles created from scratch.

Is there a way to convert this profile to be recognized as a FG profile?

Lightroom :: Enable Profile Corrections Auto Setting Doesn't Find X100s Profile In 4.4

Mar 27, 2014

In Development module in LR4.4, viewing a Fuji X100s raw file (converted on import to DNG) I tick the box for "Enable Profile Corrections" under "Lens Corrections," and select "Auto" from the "Setup" menu. I would have thought that LR would pick up the X100s profile, but no, nothing happens. If I choose "Fujifilm" from the "Make" dropdown, I can find the X100 (not X100s) profile manually. The profile's probably pretty similar, but still, I'm wondering why my install of 4.4 doesn't have the X100s profile in place?

While I'm at it, I'll ask this too -- I recently bought the new Nikkor 35mm 1.8G ED (the new full frame 35mm Nikon lens, not the trusty 35mm 1.8DX) and there's no profile for that lens in my LR4.4 either.

Finally, I note that when I choose "Check for Updates" from the "Help" menu in LR, I'm told there are no updates available.
