Photoshop :: Renaming 4000 Images As A Batch

Oct 25, 2013

I have a 4000 images (spread across 5 folders) who's file names are all prefixed with 'Rex_'. I need to remove this prefix but would rather not do it manually. Is there an automated way to do this, where the existing file name remains the same, but the Rex_ is deleted?

I have looked into the Batch Rename element of Bridge but that doesn't seem to cover the deletion of existing file name sections. I am working on a PC using CS6.

Photoshop :: Batch Renaming On MAC

Oct 18, 2005

I just did a batch rename in CS2 on my Mac from 001 to 300. Everything worked fine except for one thing. Right in the middle of the 300 images PS added the following - 140 (1) to 179 (1). Does anyone know why parentheses were added to that group of images?

Photoshop :: Batch Renaming In Bridge CS6

Jun 20, 2013

I take pictures of a swim team and I keyword tag each image with the swimmers name.  I would like to batch rename and save in a new folder the files so they have the original filename and then the keyword name.

I don't see that as an option in the metadata drop down or any of the other drop downs.  Is there a way to do it?  I have exported it and included the metadata information and from my PC I can see it in the lower picture data, but I am sharing with a Mac user and it is easiest if the name of the swimmer is in the filename.  I have over 1100 pictures and renaming them manually would be too time consuming.

Photoshop :: Renaming Batch Files

Aug 10, 2012

I would like to automate of saving, renaming, closing open documents then placing them in a seperate folder after I'm done adding watermarks to my images. The problem I'm coming across is that the action i have renames all the files using the same name (whatever example/file I used when I recorded the action).

So even though the original file names are 123.jpg, 124.jpg, 125.jpg and I want them to be renamed as 123c.jpg, 124c.jpg, 125c.jpg all of them gets renamed 122c.jpg.

I'm not sure how to do a screen shot, so here is the skinny on what I have done...

Under the Batch window I marked the following:

Play:

Set: Set1
Action: Watermark Save & Exit
Source: Opened Files
Destination: Folder      Desktop/Watermarked Pictures
Override Action "Save As" Commands (box is checked)
File Naming: "Document Name+c+extension
Starting serial #1
Errors: Stop for Errors

what I did wrong??

I use CS4 if that matters.

Photoshop :: Extension From Files Deleted When Renaming In Batch

Aug 17, 2013

When i rename files in batch in Bridge CS6 the extension from my files is deleted, leaving me with exec files. Sometimes the new name is given but the extension disappears and other times the new name i wanted to give my files appears in place of the extension.

I have had this problem for a while in combination with a cache problem (every time when opening bridge it asked me to purge the cache). I seemed to be solved by renaming the cache folder cache_old and creating a new one but now the batch renaming problem has returned.

I am finding that if I select a range of files to rename that already have numbers at the end, say 1 - 12, it is changing the order of the files and seeing the files numbered 10 - 12 before the file numbered 2. I am pretty sure it didn't work this way in X3.

I don't have X3 installed any longer.

Photoshop :: Epson 4000 Printer

Apr 15, 2005

I want to buy and Epson 4000 printer for my art photos - I've always done film but I'm switching to digital finally and got 2-3 years worth of stuff scanned. I want to make nice, high-quality, archival prints. Should I buy the regular 4000 printer or the Pro? There is something about Post RIP devices in the Pro - I don't use InDesign, at least not yet, but I have heard that the colors and color targets are better with the Pro. I am still learning the all about digital stuff so I am a little uncertain but I have been doing photography for a long time and I want to make excellent prints. Is it worth the extra $350 or so?

Photoshop :: Printing To Epson 4000 Printer

Mar 4, 2005

I just bought a new 4000 printer and the prints come out a little darker and with a little more magenta than what appears on my monitor.

The monitor has been calibrated using the spider software several times and each time it comes out the the same and I think that part of the process is good.

I have set my color workspace in Photoshop to US press defelts (Adobe 1998) and all seems well there.

The images have been scanned to 8000dpi using a High quality scanner from an outside source.

I open the image and convert to working space RGB, and do my correction to the image which includes more color saturation.

I go to print the image using Adobe1998 as source and the printer paper ICC as the output. I go to advanced options and make sure color correction are turned OFF and print.
The images on my printer always come out darker and with more magenta that what I see on the screen no matter what Icc profile I use for every kind of paper.

The softproof does not look that way.

When I print using same as source as the output with color correction sliders set to 0 the print will be much closer but still not quite like whats on the screen.

When I do it the correct way(the first way I discribed) why is my print comming out too dark and too much magenta?

Photoshop :: How To Best Open 35 Mm Slide RAW Scan With 4000 Dpi In Camera RAW CS5

Jul 20, 2012

I have, at present, set Camera Raw to open files as ProPhoto RGB and as 360 dpi. I want to keep all options open for later use of the files (for albums or enlargements). How do I get the best results so that I do not diminish the quality obtained in the scanning process (where I try to use only ICE and to leave all other editing to PS later - I know that the changes made by ICE are permanent so that I already here do not have a real RAW - but it is my impression that the choice of RAW over TIFF in the scanning is still worth it).

I have also some older scans but these are TIFF's, also 4000 dpi but only 8 bit. I want to get the best result from both types of files.

I plan to perform all edits before I finally save files in various print sizes. I am still quite scared as to make mistakes when resizing so that I get an inferior quality in the new size.  I, of course, keep a copy of the original scans safe and unedited. I am also in doubt as to whether I should go directly into PS or via Camera Raw with the scans.

Photoshop :: CS6 Randomly Crashes Using Intel HD Graphics 4000?

May 28, 2013

When using Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8 [Surface Pro], it randomly crashes. I normally can only use Photoshop for less than a minute, doing less than ten actions, before it crashes. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working." If I debug it using Visual Studio, I get this message:

Unhandled exception at 0x5442B60E (ig7icd32.dll) in Photoshop.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000002C.

I looked up ig7icd32.dll and it seems to be published by Intel and related to my graphics hardware, so I assume the problem is related to my Intel HD Graphics 4000.how to fix this problem or as to what might be causing it?

EDIT:Also, when launching Photoshop, I get this message:

Photoshop :: Batch For 2 Images In A Set

Aug 27, 2013

I created a nice action to work on 2 (currently loaded) images in combination.

Now I would need support on how to apply this existing and successful action in a AUTOMATE/BATCH process on a folder full of files. So instead of just loading 1 (one) picture at a time and applying the action within a standard batch to a single picture -  I would need that photoshop loads 2 (TWO) images from my source folder at the same time - applies the action-batch - and then continues to load the next 2 pictures, then the next 2 etc....

Photoshop :: Getting Batch Of Images Into Folder?

Jul 21, 2013

I have some images selected in Bridge. If I use image processer it's fine, the images get processed (using my action at the bottom), and ends up in a jpeg folder within my designated folder on the desktop. Unfortunately PS is also creating a duplicate image on the desktop, which gets real cumbersome with 200 images strewn across the desktop.

If I go batch route, nothing works becuase it's stops at the ACR window as these are DNG. (whether the override save as is checked or not)

Photoshop :: Batch Cropping Many Images

May 19, 2009

I am familiar with running actions and running an action on a batch of images. Can someone give me an effective technique for cropping a batch of photos? I need to take a bunch of photos in vertical and horizontal orientations and crop them to a specific size and resolution to fit on a screen for a slideshow.

The problem is there is no way to ensure that the photos crop correctly (e.g. cut off faces or important parts). Is there a technique or plugin, perhaps, that could at least ensure that MOST photos don't crop incorrectly?

Photoshop :: Batch Splitting Images And Getting...

Jun 8, 2009

In making an ebook from scans, I need to do a double page scan, then split the image into two images, one for each page.  I've had no problem with the splitting into right and left sides of the photo, but the output numbers MUST be such that a left image might have name of image0001 and the left side 0002.  In other words, the left numbers must be odd consecutive numbers, 1, 3, 5... and the right numbers must be even consecutive numbers 2, 4, 6... - this I've been unable to do with the automate batch options.  Is there any way to do this?

Photoshop :: Batch Process 1000 Images

Aug 11, 2012

I have a batch of 1000 images that all need to be processed with the exact same levels adjustments and the exact same crop command. I recorded the necssary actions in photoshop, and I can now open up approximately 20 of my images and batch apply the actions to all 20 images automatically. The trouble is that I have 1000 images to process like this, and I can't open all 1000 in photoshop at once; it just kills my machine. I don't want to do the whole 1000 in little batches of 20 either. I'll be getting a new pile of 1000 images to process like this every day or two, so I need a way to do the whole 1000 automatically without user intervention.

Is such a thing possible?

I'm a software develoeper by profession, so if doing this sort of massive batch processing requires any command line work or scripting then I would totally be up for that.

Photoshop :: Batch Processing Images With Different Dimensions

Apr 23, 2012

Takes a jpg draws a shape masks the image adds another shape . So I can batch process a ton of images. I managed to do something like what I'm after but the thing I'm having trouble with is that the original images will have different dimensions.

I have attached (via link) an example image which would be the original (start.jpg), one which would be the desired end result (done.jpg) and the .psd

IF there needs to be a step in the middle of the action where I need to intervene and resize the flat image slightly to fit the canvas it'll still save a load of time.

I know that opening and saving will be taken care of using the batch feature and the result only needs to be a jpg.

Here are the working files -

Photoshop :: Batch Overlay Multiple Images

Sep 3, 2013

I'm an architect and would like to automate a process we do all the time: shadow studies.

Here's a typical scenario: we render a view of a building, same camera angle, just changing the time of day for each rendering. Then we take those renderings and overlay them in Photoshop setting each layer to "Multiply", add a Brightness/Contast or Levels adjustment layer, and save said image. We do this for three times a year (one equinox and each solstice), often a few views of the building for each.

So a typical shadow study might be 4-5 views, three times a years, so that's 12-15 composite images. This process gets repeated multiple times for each project as we change the design, so there is a lot of repetition.

I know how to create simple Actions. I know how to run a batch. What I don't know how to do and would like is a way to run a batch where I select some files and it creates the composite. The hurdle is making the Action and Batch be "generic" so that when I run the batch, I can select the images I want and the place to save it. That's the part I don't know how to do.

The Action I created is limited by (a) files open and (b) therefore only applicable to a certain number of open files (if I create the Action with 4 open files, it will only work on 4 files, not 3, not 5).

If required, I could probably script something. I know some programming/scripting, but have never done it for Photoshop.

Photoshop :: Batch Rename / Renumber Images In Folder

Jul 31, 2013

I am trying to rename/renumber a folder of 100 pictures, so they are all in 3 digits, but remain in the order & have the same number associated with the same file.  Right now the folder is numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, etc..  I attempted to do the batch rename through Photoshop to make the folder 001, 002, 003.etc, BUT when I did this, the first picture 1 turned into 001..which is great...but the old 2 turns into 002, but is actually what 10 used to be.

19 turns into 011 instead of 019
40 turns into 035 instead of 040

Why is Photoshop changing the original number to a 3 digit, but changing the number it should have been.  I just want it to be 001, 002, 003, 004, 005, 006, 007, 008, 009, 010, 011, 012..
