I'm a graphic designer on a terribly limited budget and need a new laptop.I've been looking at the Lenovo G580 laptop, which has:
8GB RAM, 3rd Generation Intel Core i5-3210M Processor( 2.50GHz 1600MHz 3MB)Intel HD Graphics 4000. Ever tried the Intel HD Graphics 4000 on CS5.5, with emphasis on Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign?
When using Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8 [Surface Pro], it randomly crashes. I normally can only use Photoshop for less than a minute, doing less than ten actions, before it crashes. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working." If I debug it using Visual Studio, I get this message:

I looked up ig7icd32.dll and it seems to be published by Intel and related to my graphics hardware, so I assume the problem is related to my Intel HD Graphics 4000.how to fix this problem or as to what might be causing it?

I have bought my first mac, a brand new Mac Pro dual 2.6ghz.
I am a graphic artist, and so of course photoshop cs2 will be the main program I use. I am wondering how they will be running on the Intel chip that is shipping with the MacPro.
I know that the macbook and imac both run a different intel chip, does CS2 run pretty good on those? Or are the intel mac users at a serious disadvantage until adobe releases a universal version of photoshop?
Between the two processors below, which would you recommend for a system with Vista 64bit and CS4:
Quad Core Intel® Xeon® Processor E5420 (2.50GHz,2X6M L2,1333)
or
Intel® Corei7-920 Processor(8MB L2 Cache, 2.66GHz)
I have read some potential instabilities with the i7 processor, CS4, Vista 64 bit. But maybe this is old info and this processor is fine.
how the latest generation of Intel integrated video performs in Photoshop, Intel HD Graphics 4400 specifically? Does it support Photoshop acceleration, OpenCL etc?
How many graphic memory can it handle? Who is better performer, Intel HD Graphics 4400 or Radeon 6600M?
I am thinking of getting a new laptop that uses the Intel 4500hmd video processor. This uses shared memory, but the laptop would come with 4GB RAM and run with the Vista 64 bit OS. The latest Intel driver claims the 4500 has open GL 2.0. Has anyone on the forum used the Intel 4500HMD successfuly with Photoshop CS4.Â

I had it installed in my old laptop (an old one with a AMD Vision processor) and the 3D option was available, but after I moved all my old programs to my new one (a Windows 7, 64 bits, Intel Core i5, Intel HD 3000 Graphics video card) this option is not available. I dunno if it's due to the fact that OpenCL is not available in my laptop or if it's anything else.

View 9 Replies View RelatedI want to buy and Epson 4000 printer for my art photos - I've always done film but I'm switching to digital finally and got 2-3 years worth of stuff scanned. I want to make nice, high-quality, archival prints. Should I buy the regular 4000 printer or the Pro? There is something about Post RIP devices in the Pro - I don't use InDesign, at least not yet, but I have heard that the colors and color targets are better with the Pro. I am still learning the all about digital stuff so I am a little uncertain but I have been doing photography for a long time and I want to make excellent prints. Is it worth the extra $350 or so?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 4000 images (spread across 5 folders) who's file names are all prefixed with 'Rex_'. I need to remove this prefix but would rather not do it manually. Is there an automated way to do this, where the existing file name remains the same, but the Rex_ is deleted?

I have looked into the Batch Rename element of Bridge but that doesn't seem to cover the deletion of existing file name sections. I am working on a PC using CS6.
How do you load eye candy 4000 plugins? I have them on my hard drive.
Keep'er simple just installed it.
I just bought a new 4000 printer and the prints come out a little darker and with a little more magenta than what appears on my monitor.
The monitor has been calibrated using the spider software several times and each time it comes out the the same and I think that part of the process is good.
I have set my color workspace in Photoshop to US press defelts (Adobe 1998) and all seems well there.
The images have been scanned to 8000dpi using a High quality scanner from an outside source.
I open the image and convert to working space RGB, and do my correction to the image which includes more color saturation.
I go to print the image using Adobe1998 as source and the printer paper ICC as the output. I go to advanced options and make sure color correction are turned OFF and print.
The images on my printer always come out darker and with more magenta that what I see on the screen no matter what Icc profile I use for every kind of paper.
The softproof does not look that way.
When I print using same as source as the output with color correction sliders set to 0 the print will be much closer but still not quite like whats on the screen.
When I do it the correct way(the first way I discribed) why is my print comming out too dark and too much magenta?
I have, at present, set Camera Raw to open files as ProPhoto RGB and as 360 dpi. I want to keep all options open for later use of the files (for albums or enlargements). How do I get the best results so that I do not diminish the quality obtained in the scanning process (where I try to use only ICE and to leave all other editing to PS later - I know that the changes made by ICE are permanent so that I already here do not have a real RAW - but it is my impression that the choice of RAW over TIFF in the scanning is still worth it).

I have also some older scans but these are TIFF's, also 4000 dpi but only 8 bit. I want to get the best result from both types of files.

I plan to perform all edits before I finally save files in various print sizes. I am still quite scared as to make mistakes when resizing so that I get an inferior quality in the new size. I, of course, keep a copy of the original scans safe and unedited. I am also in doubt as to whether I should go directly into PS or via Camera Raw with the scans.
I have never used an Apple Mac before so I would like to know, what is the difference between using Photoshop in a Mac and in a PC? Assuming that both platform utilizes similar hardware spec...

View 1 Replies View RelatedI currently own a laptop which I use heavily for image editing. It is powered by a very fast Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz and a power-efficient yet perfectly capable Intel X3100 integrated graphics chip.
My chip supports all of the necessary Shader versions, OpenGL 2.0, etc. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_GMA#GMA_X3100 ). However, when I visit the Preferences menu to enable the OpenGL acceleration, I am presented with a grayed-out option telling me I may need to upgrade my drivers or graphics card.
I have tried new driver versions. Certainly I should not have to purchase another card (impossible in a laptop in fact) seeing as my chip supports all of the requisite features.
I thought it interesting enough to share because of the odd discussions we've had around drives in recent months. a lot of the regular posters seem to be conspicuous by their absence since I got back from my trip. Have they all been at Photoshop World? URL....

I have taken the computer to Apple (under apple care) these people don't find anything wrong with the computer,but PS9 software and they are correct, is there any "plist" that needs to be trashed or updates.

Get the message that this version no longer supported for new the Intel Chip Macs. I know the version is old but worked perfectly well for my purposes.

I've installed Illustrator 10. Fine. It recognised the lack of Classic environment and installed. It runs ok. But Photoshop 7. It installed as per above. But when it attempts to load it hangs with the error, "An unexpected and unrecoverable problem has occurred because of a program error. Photoshop will now exit."

Post on this forum seem to indicate a serious problem and that users with i7 processors have to change their Bios settings each time they use Video Studio and disable one of the great features of this CPU, i.e. Hyperthreading. Is this true or only under certain conditions ?
Have a few questions about hotkeys. I want to change the hotkeys on most of the tools to match the ones I use in other Software. However, is there something like a "template file" for my hotkeys saved so that I can just add it to the corresponding file and the hotkeys to be applied at once each time I reinstall Draw? I wouldn't like to do it each time manually.
And lastly, Hand tool. I like how the hand tool works on Adobe software. Once you let the button of the Hand tool it automatically gives you the tool you previously had making it very handy to use. That doesn't happen with Draw though. Each time I use the hand tool i have to reselect again the tool I previously used!
I am a new VSX5 user. I installed the software last night, and today when I tried uploading a picture (PNG) to the timeline, I got the following error message: "These files cannot be added to this project. These files may be of unknown file format. The computer does not have enough memory or the file is copyright protected." I am able to add a video to my timeline. The picture was a screen shot from an ipad I took, so I doubt it is copyright protected.
When it comes to computer parts, and things of that nature, I don't necessarily know too much. Upon research my Toshiba Satellite C655-S5512 (low end computer, but it was all I could afford earlier this year) has an Intel Pentium B960 processor. Is that why I'm getting that error? And, is there anyway to be able to use this software in the mean time until I upgrade to a desktop computer in a month or two?
I updated the Video Studio Prox5 software with the Service Pack1.

RAM: 4.0GB
64-bit operating system
If I upgrade my RAM, will that work?
I have purchased some clipart where the artist used Adobe Illustrator and it contained extensive Mesh Fills. The artist sent me the same artwork in pdf & eps but I am unable to open any of them with X5. Apparently it is a function of the mesh fills?

View 7 Replies View RelatedI had Photoshop CS6 installed and working on my Mac using Adobe Creative Cloud. However now a dialog appears that says "Help Improve Adobe's Product". Regardless if I approve this dialog or not Adobe Photoshop starts up with every menu option grayed and I can do nothing. I have to force quit the application. At this point it is 100% unusable.

Product: CS4 64 bit: Adobe Output Module-Adobe updater downloads 2 updates 75.9mb (Camera Raw 5.3). After download and permission to continue under user account control, I receive popup menu advising me that Installation Incomplete, close Adobe Bridge - 3 choices, which always fail. My Adobe CS4 and Bridge are not open. I tried this several times with the same result.I downloaded the zip file, saved, unzip, and still get the same notice - close Bridge.
