Photoshop :: CS4- Quad Core Intel Vs. Intel...

Apr 2, 2009

Between the two processors below, which would you recommend for a system with Vista 64bit and CS4:

Quad Core Intel® Xeon® Processor E5420 (2.50GHz,2X6M L2,1333)

or

Intel® Corei7-920 Processor(8MB L2 Cache, 2.66GHz)

I have read some potential instabilities with the i7 processor, CS4, Vista 64 bit. But maybe this is old info and this processor is fine.

VideoStudio :: Compatibility With Intel Core I7 CPU?

Feb 20, 2011

It is stated quite clearly on Corel's website that Video Studio Pro X3 is "Enhanced! NVIDIA® CUDA™ GPU acceleration and Intel® Core™ i7 CPU optimization "

Post on this forum seem to indicate a serious problem and that users with i7 processors have to change their Bios settings each time they use Video Studio and disable one of the great features of this CPU, i.e. Hyperthreading. Is this true or only under certain conditions ?

Photoshop :: Dual Core And Quad Core Are They

I am thinking of upgrading my PC, but only if the dual-core and quad-core machines will run Photoshop and Lightroom faster than a single core machine (which I have now). Does anyone know if Adobe has upgraded their software (CS3 and Lightroom) to take advantage of the multi-threading that's possible with multi-core PCs?

Photoshop :: PS, Quad Core?

Jan 12, 2009

I'm looking purchase a Dell Precision - this one to be precise:

Dell Precision

With the specs below:

Vista® Business x64

Intel Xeon E5440 with riser (2.83GHz,1333FSB,2x6MB,Quad Core

ATI FireGL V7700

2 x 146G,(15,000rpm) SAS Hard Drives (one for a scratch drive) - I have an SCSI (SAS?) drive in work and it seems fast (noisy as hell though!)

16GB, 667MHz, ECC Memory (8x2GB)
CS4 Master collection - educational

I'm pretty clueless about Processors and Graphics cards etc, (I just picked the one I could afford)so Quad core, dual core, more than one processor?

Would the 15,000rpm SAS be better than 10,000 sata?

Photoshop :: CS4 GPU Acceleration And Intel X3100

Oct 16, 2008

I currently own a laptop which I use heavily for image editing. It is powered by a very fast Core 2 Duo 2.4GHz and a power-efficient yet perfectly capable Intel X3100 integrated graphics chip.

My chip supports all of the necessary Shader versions, OpenGL 2.0, etc. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_GMA#GMA_X3100 ). However, when I visit the Preferences menu to enable the OpenGL acceleration, I am presented with a grayed-out option telling me I may need to upgrade my drivers or graphics card.

I have tried new driver versions. Certainly I should not have to purchase another card (impossible in a laptop in fact) seeing as my chip supports all of the requisite features.

Photoshop :: Mac Pro And CS2 - Adobe On Intel, Rosetta?

Aug 8, 2006

I have bought my first mac, a brand new Mac Pro dual 2.6ghz.

I am a graphic artist, and so of course photoshop cs2 will be the main program I use. I am wondering how they will be running on the Intel chip that is shipping with the MacPro.

I know that the macbook and imac both run a different intel chip, does CS2 run pretty good on those? Or are the intel mac users at a serious disadvantage until adobe releases a universal version of photoshop?

Photoshop :: 3D Feature In CS6 - Intel HD 3000 Graphics

Jul 9, 2012

I'm just wondering if it is normal I don't have the 3D feature in Photoshop CS6. I had it installed in my old laptop (an old one with a AMD Vision processor) and the 3D option was available, but after I moved all my old programs to my new one (a Windows 7, 64 bits, Intel Core i5, Intel HD 3000 Graphics video card) this option is not available. I dunno if it's due to the fact that OpenCL is not available in my laptop or if it's anything else.

Photoshop :: CS6 Randomly Crashes Using Intel HD Graphics 4000?

May 28, 2013

When using Photoshop CS6 on Windows 8 [Surface Pro], it randomly crashes. I normally can only use Photoshop for less than a minute, doing less than ten actions, before it crashes. I get an error message saying "Adobe Photoshop CS6 has stopped working." If I debug it using Visual Studio, I get this message:

Unhandled exception at 0x5442B60E (ig7icd32.dll) in Photoshop.exe: 0xC0000005: Access violation reading location 0x0000002C.

I looked up ig7icd32.dll and it seems to be published by Intel and related to my graphics hardware, so I assume the problem is related to my Intel HD Graphics 4000.how to fix this problem or as to what might be causing it?

EDIT:Also, when launching Photoshop, I get this message:

Photoshop has encountered a problem with the display driver, and has temporarily disabled enhancements which use the graphics hardware. Check the manufacturer's website for the latest software.

Graphics hardware enhancements can be enabled in the performance panel of preferences. For more information, visit:...All my drivers are fully updated, and all Windows updates are installed. No other applications have any problems with my graphics hardware.

VideoStudio :: Can X5 Work With Intel Pentium B960 Processor

Nov 21, 2012

I am a new VSX5 user. I installed the software last night, and today when I tried uploading a picture (PNG) to the timeline, I got the following error message: "These files cannot be added to this project. These files may be of unknown file format. The computer does not have enough memory or the file is copyright protected." I am able to add a video to my timeline. The picture was a screen shot from an ipad I took, so I doubt it is copyright protected.

When it comes to computer parts, and things of that nature, I don't necessarily know too much. Upon research my Toshiba Satellite C655-S5512 (low end computer, but it was all I could afford earlier this year) has an Intel Pentium B960 processor. Is that why I'm getting that error? And, is there anyway to be able to use this software in the mean time until I upgrade to a desktop computer in a month or two?

I updated the Video Studio Prox5 software with the Service Pack1.

This is what my system is running on:
Intel Pentium CPU B960 2.2GHZ processor
RAM: 4.0GB
64-bit operating system

If I upgrade my RAM, will that work?

VideoStudio :: Only One Core Of Multi Core Cpu Utilized

Aug 19, 2013

I have been a VS user for a long time now. I am currently using VSPro X5. I have an Intel Core i7-3770K overclocked to about 4.3GHz. I am running a little tuning utility program by intel to validate that when using VSPro X5 it is indeed utilizing only 1 core and about 19% of the CPU. This is irregardless of whether or not I am editing or encoding video. I have selected all of the hardware acceleration options and optimizations to no effect.

I also use MainConcept's encoder to render certain video and have validated that all 4 cores are engaged during the process and about 65% of the CPU is utilized.

I downloaded and installed the trial version of X6 and ran it and used it to process video with the same results as X5.

I am running 64 Bit Win7 Ult.

For the sake of comparisons, an AVI file converted to MPG (720x480, 1500kbps) is converted by: MainConcept at about 200fps VSPro X5 at about 30fps

Photoshop :: Bridge CS4 And Multi-core CPUs

Jan 22, 2009

Does anyone know if Bridge in the CS4 version benefits from a dual-core processor?

Those thumbnails take a loooong time. Also, if it does indeed benefit from a 2-core:

1- Does it benefit from a 4-core over a 2-core?

2- And this is a value judgement: Money is tight but am i crazy not to scrape together $200 more to get a 4-core at this date and time even if Bridge does not [yet?] benefit from a 4-core? Do you, in the next 3 years think CS could be hindered by an old 2-core? I will probably get a 12MP camera next year and i often use multiple [3]HDR exposures and often multiple layers. [I already know to get 8GB RAM].
