VideoStudio :: Only One Core Of Multi Core Cpu Utilized
Aug 19, 2013
I have been a VS user for a long time now. I am currently using VSPro X5. I have an Intel Core i7-3770K overclocked to about 4.3GHz. I am running a little tuning utility program by intel to validate that when using VSPro X5 it is indeed utilizing only 1 core and about 19% of the CPU. This is irregardless of whether or not I am editing or encoding video. I have selected all of the hardware acceleration options and optimizations to no effect.
I also use MainConcept's encoder to render certain video and have validated that all 4 cores are engaged during the process and about 65% of the CPU is utilized.
I downloaded and installed the trial version of X6 and ran it and used it to process video with the same results as X5.
I am running 64 Bit Win7 Ult.
For the sake of comparisons, an AVI file converted to MPG (720x480, 1500kbps) is converted by: MainConcept at about 200fps VSPro X5 at about 30fps
I am thinking of upgrading my PC, but only if the dual-core and quad-core machines will run Photoshop and Lightroom faster than a single core machine (which I have now). Does anyone know if Adobe has upgraded their software (CS3 and Lightroom) to take advantage of the multi-threading that's possible with multi-core PCs?
Does anyone know if Bridge in the CS4 version benefits from a dual-core processor?
Those thumbnails take a loooong time. Also, if it does indeed benefit from a 2-core:
1- Does it benefit from a 4-core over a 2-core?
2- And this is a value judgement: Money is tight but am i crazy not to scrape together $200 more to get a 4-core at this date and time even if Bridge does not [yet?] benefit from a 4-core? Do you, in the next 3 years think CS could be hindered by an old 2-core? I will probably get a 12MP camera next year and i often use multiple [3]HDR exposures and often multiple layers. [I already know to get 8GB RAM].
It is stated quite clearly on Corel's website that Video Studio Pro X3 is "Enhanced! NVIDIA® CUDA™ GPU acceleration and Intel® Core™ i7 CPU optimization "
Post on this forum seem to indicate a serious problem and that users with i7 processors have to change their Bios settings each time they use Video Studio and disable one of the great features of this CPU, i.e. Hyperthreading. Is this true or only under certain conditions ?
Is it possible to have a line weight for the core of the wall that is different from the finish lines ! I mean assigning a different line weight for every component of the wall .
The Samsungs splash screen gets to reading preferences but then says: cs6 has stopped running. I have deleted the prefs file to no avail. The samsung has a nvidia geforce 630.My uac has always been all the way down
can't use express tools commands because they forgot to click on install express tool, what is the reason that you have to click on it and Fusion is a part of autocad?
Is it possible to design a wall where the core boundary lines fall in the middle of a wall layer?  Case in point is a complex wall with an 8" foundation wall that follows a building line along its exterior face.  Above that is 3'-6" of stone veneer/airspace/sheathing/6" stud/drywall.  Above that is EIFS/sheathing/6" stud/drywall.  The design calls for an insulation gap between the slab and the foundation and for the top of the wall to be 6" above the first floor level.  The 6" metal stud thus overhangs the top of the foundation wall by 1" on the interior side.  Ideally the floor would be flush and core would simply follow the studs but the building lines (controlled by the grid) control the placement of the foundation wall and no part of the upper wall lines up with the foundation wall.  Even worse the exterior finish falls 1/2" inside the exterior of the wall below and there should be no line drawn there.Â
I have created several stacked walls in my model and I am to the point of dimesioning my walls. I am wanting to dimension to the centerline (core) of walls; however, when I try to dimension a stacked wall it won't give me the choice to dimension to the core centerline.
My DWG has one model and one paperspace with view of the model.
Each view can have many viewport and has a cartridge.
My Goal :
I want a PDF File. One view per page.
My method :I have an intermediate step, which create many Postscript File(One per View)
The second step use GhostScript to concate PS Files in a PDF.
 The steps:
1st step : Read DWG File to create script file, in order to automate plotting with AccoreConsole.exe. My method give me the point for plotting in a window with both corner.
2d step : Use the Script File and Software like (TRUEVIEW or ACCORECONSOLE(Autocad 2013) to create PS Files.
Last step : Run GhostScript to make my PDF File as I wish.
 Problem :
Old method It works with DWGTrueView, but I would like a silent mode for executing.
Solution ==> use AccoreConsole.exe include in Autocad 2013
New method Using Accoreconsole with a ProcessStartInfo, I realized that accoreconsole.exe can raised error that DWGTrueView didn't raised.
It works with some files, but sometimes, it's crashed, and I don't understand why.For exemple, a file that succeed with DWGTrueView
I can't decide between getting the Amd Dual-Core 64bit 4400 or the 4800 processor. Will I see a big difference in performance with CS2? is the price worth it? I plan to have 4GB of memory on the computer.
I currently use an AMD 32bit 3000 processor with 1GB of ram and the computer can barely handle the files created by my 1Ds Mark II. I add just one layer in CS2 to the file and its all over. My computer slows to a crawl.
Tools from Lightroom 3 load into to 4 and 5. I have not been able to get the updated tools. Once in a while they will come up but how. Mac user 2.66 Ghz core i7 version 10.8.3
I have to use concrete hollow core slab in my project, but I was wondering, if it is possible that the hollow core slab automatically adjust itself to the width of the room. I have attached a screen-shot of the problem, where the the last hollow core slab overlap the beam. I can manually change the width of the last beam, but it would take a lot time, moreover if I change the dimension of the overlapped beam, then i have to readjust the last hollow core slab.
I have painted my base mesh with PTex using Mudbox. I have made some changes to the original mesh. Now I wanna transfer paint layers from my old geometry to the new one. I imported the old geometry with PTex paint on it. Then I imported the new modified geometry. But When I try to set it up for PTex painting, Mudbox crashes. This happens when setting the resolution. Looking at the log, the error seems to be "Segmentation Fault (Core dumped)".
I'm starting to get fairly comfortable with the new shake reduction tool in CC and the results are fantastic. It's already saved several old photos that I had given up on as hopelessly motion blurred. Now that I'm getting familiar with the tool though, I have a question. I know the tool allows for multiple blur traces to be created. How are they used, and won't they conflict with one another. If part of the image is more blurred than another, or blurred in a slightly different direction, won't the corrections applied from the blur trace determined by one part of the image actually further blur the parts of the image where that blur trace doesn't apply (and isn't the same true of the second trace then)? how the tool handles multiple traces? Are they applied locally with diminishing effect as the distance from the measurement region increases? Are they applied in some other smart fashion?
I am having a problem trying to create a DVD with multiple "independent" videos. I want each one to be selectable on the main menu and to act independently of the others. When the selected video is finished, rather than going on to the next video, I wanted it to return to the introduction screen for the user to select another video or exit.
Because i still don't have audio when loading a video in the timeline and go to projectmode. The audio is also not in the output file. It is when playing original clip in library and when in timeline choose the clip but not in project mode and output file.
Thats why i split audio and video in Virtualdub to wav (direct stream copy) and then load audio and video in VS4. Now i want to multi-trim the clip. But only the video is trimming the audio is not trimming with it so audio is off sync. How can one multi trim a video with the audio who is seperatly loaded in the audio track?
Is there a way to edit using a multi camera "technique" ? ( having several videos synchronized with an audio track and just switching between the video tracks) or is there some way to do that ?
I can consistently get VSP X4 to crash if it slows down during mouse click inputs in the multi-edit window trying to advance frames and I put too many clicks into the buffer.
I've just started using VS X6 Pro, after not doing much with video for a few years. I previously used VS 10 and 9.
We have a canon P&S camera which produces HD H264 mov files which I am editing for the first time and getting a weird problem. The files play fine on the time line, but when I try to use the multi-trim tool I get two issues:
1. Audio is badly out of sync in the multi trim window, like 1/2 second in a 20sec clip. (again, same clip plays fine on the time line) 2. When I make a multiple trim, the "play trimmed video" button does not work properly. eg if I make two selections from a clip with a gap between them, play trimmed video plays the whole clip to the end, then returns to the start of the second trim selection and plays that.
If I load up an mpeg2 .avi clip, the multi-trim tool works perfectly: audio is in sync and it correctly plays only the trimmed sections.
I have enabled smart proxy on the clips, and following another hint in a thread here, I downgraded quicktime to 7.5.5 but neither worked. Also I have installed sp1.
Basically I do a lot of dog rescue/foster stuff and doing videos (even if they are slide shows) of the dogs really get adopted. I am "ok" at doing a normal slide show. Here's a link for one I have already done
But, I would like to "spice" them up a little. One thing someone suggested was doing a slide show, like above, but having multiple pictures on the screen at once. For instance a picture appears in the Upper left, then upper right, then lower left, then lower right. So there are 4 pictures that are on the screen at the same time, but appear at different times. Like if you were showing some one snapshots and setting them on a table, with some covering up others.
I can compose my own multi track music, but how to I get it into a format that Corel Video Studio could use -- to allow me to use Set Mood to adjust the layers?
I'm trialing VS ProX5 and have uploaded multiple video files and have trimmed them and multi trimmed them and now would like to join them together to make one video and put a voice over on top. Is that possible?
I haven't tried the voice over bit yet cause I haven't been able to figure out how to join the videos.
I use VSX3 to edit down .mov files created with a contour HD helmet camera. I have been using a 720p version of the helmet camera and have had no issues with editing (other than the ocasional C++ runtime errors and the VSX3 program crashing randomly which just seems to be a Corel programming issue) Recently I got to use a 1080p contour HD helmet camera and have problems editing the files in VSX3. In the preview window in the edit screen the 1080p file plays fine. But when I try to trim the file down using the "multi-trim video" function the file is very jittery, takes a long time to load and the sound is in and out, almost like the program can't handle a 1080p file for editing. The "mult-trim video" works fine for the 720p videos.
