Photoshop :: Preparing Same-size Images Of Varying...

Nov 28, 2008

I originally put this with a post on saving for web but I think this is a bit different.

If I shoot a big painting, the resolution of detail - brushstrokes, canvas, imperfections adds to the overall feel of the image. If I shoot a tiny/small image with the same lens/camera and it fills the screen those details look like a relief map of the Himalayas! Can I get around that? I notice that sharpening can make a difference but what are the principles here?

GIMP :: Preparing Images For The Web / Transparency?

Mar 11, 2012

I need to put images on websites such as headers, buttons, icons, just text and so forth.

I have saved my work first as .xcf for later editing. Then I save my work as .png that I have created with a transparent background. However, when I go to put them on the websites I am building there is Always a white background. ??

Even when I upload them to Photobucket there is a white background. But when I make .png images in Inkscape they load fine to Photobucket with no white background but again, when I try to put the Inkscape .png images on my websites they too have white backgrounds.

Also, when I save files with a transparent background as .gif and upload them to Photobucket the transparent background is there but the images look just awful. They are no longer smooth around the edges & look like the pixels are sticking out all around the images.

Also, when I save files as .gif and upload them to my websites they too have a white background. ??

I've been using Dropbox to send images to my biz partner and both the .png and the .gif are showing up with white backgrounds in Dropbox as well.

Using Corel to prepare images for cutting on a CNC plasma table. any easiest way to prepare images for cutting. With merging images, Lettering and original art work transfer. I need to convert to a DXF format to drop into the machine program (Sheetcam). I have used trace with some success. By this, I mean that the image "looked" good, but I seem to be doing something wrong because the graphic will not run on the machine.

Photoshop :: Preparing Screenshots For Print

capturing screenshots, that will be for print. The company that I work for has a book being made that requires several figures from screenshots. The book is being printed in B&W. I do not have access to any other screen grab program other than Grab, and was wondering if anyone has any advice for making these grabs the best quality they can be for print. I am obviously concerned with resolution, but also the general quality of the images, bluriness when printed, as well as loss of quality and contrast when converted to B&W

Photoshop :: Preparing Files For A Commercial Printer

May 31, 2012

I have been working exclusively in Photoshop, but a printer has asked me to provide files in illustrator. The files are for a 1:1 print job (packaging) and do not need to be enlarged. Is there any reason why a printer would not be able to use Photoshop files? Also is there a way to convert the files to illustrator or an equivalent without any loss of quality?

Photoshop :: Varying Gradient Width

Mar 8, 2011

I can make an even gradient between two straight lines, with a fair amount of precision. as shown in the first two jpegs

How I can do this between two curvy lines so the gradient adjusts to the changing thicknesses? In the second two jpegs I'm fudging the effect with the brush tool. But this is not precise enough for what I'm trying to do.

I want to use this for traditional animation drawn frame by frame. So if I went in with the brush tool in each frame, the gradient would be stroking and freaking out when you watch the animation.

Photoshop :: Pattern Fill Of Varying Density

Dec 16, 2005

i'm using PS CS and I want to fill a selection with a pattern but i'd like to simulate a light source.. so i'd like the pattern to fill with a varying density -- like stippling..or cross-hatching. i'm doing a 2-color (black and white only) t-shirt design so i can't have any gradations of colour. this may be a loaded question.. so i'm just hoping to get pointed in the right direction. if u need me to be more specific let me know.

Would illustrator be better suited for this task because i also have access to ai cs. even if not.. can someone recommend a good illustrator forum that is comparable to this mb? and maybe for Flash too.

Photoshop :: How To Batch Watermark Logo Onto Varying Heights

Jul 20, 2012

I would like to watermark a logo on a batch folder of photos, but the photos are different heights (but same width). If I use text in Photoshop it's not a problem, but if I use my logo the Action places it in different positions depending on the height of the photo.

What I am looking for is a way to have the logo placed in a relative position to the bottom right corner of the photo. Say, 25px from the bottom and 0px from the right. I am unsure of how to achieve this relative placement.

I export my work as an ai file, but he tells me that my images that I convert to a grayscale bitmap are rgb, the text that I copy and paste from Microsoft word have random open characters that are filled in (like o's) and are multiple blacks even after I change them to pantone process black u and that my black is not plain Pantone black (there is no plain BLACK in my pantone pallettes). I use process black u and 100% Pantone 300 U.

Paint.NET :: Preparing Portrait For TShirt Print

Aug 30, 2011

I am just learning paint.net and would like some pointers to prepare a photo of a persons face for tshirt print.

I was thinking of trying to transform a photo into a cartoon style ink drawing (i.e. outline only) but can quite get it (I have tried one or two plugins and the ink/ pencil tools).

Ideally I would like something like this the logo found here but without the fill (and obviously a little more facial detail as its taken from a photo). [URL] .....

Failing that, I could go with the classic Che Guevar style as found on countless tshirts, but not sure if its possible to easily create it. [URL] .......

Illustrator :: CS6 - Preparing A Logo For Printing On Black T-shirt?

Oct 10, 2012

I'm pretty familiar with preparing files for print in Illustrator and am currently using CS6. However, I'm not at all familiar with preparing files for printing on non-white fabrics (a black t-shirt in this case). I've had a hunt on Google but haven't yet found a simple answer to my question which is this:

The logo is red and black on a white background (shown below). How do I make sure that the white area prints as white and not "no ink" as would happen when printing on white stock?

There will be a small run initially, so will probably use a heat transfer method rather than screen printing at this point.

I've done quite a bit of research in the forums for a similar problem but not quite got any suitable answer. I'm running LR3.6 on WinXP SP3 with 4Gb RAM (3Gb useable). I'm trying to print 140 images setup on 7 pages each 16" x 24" JPEG size files (settings as below). Surely that should be a doodle? 2 hr+ later, I just have the "Preparing Print Job" progress bar doing nothing like it's expecting further input from me. No error messages, nothing, until I quit. Is there anything I should be watching out for? It's the first time I've tried to convert such a large collection to file and it's rather worrisome that I have these problems. case of "user error"

Illustrator :: Preparing File For Print - Flattening Options And PDF Creation

Jan 26, 2014

A client has asked for an advert to be reset for magazine publication. For various reasons I am preparing it in Illustrator CC (mainly that I am more comfortable with Illustrator and it contains some reasonably complex effects and blending options). Anyway the time has come to send it to the printers and I have that heavy feeling that all is not well! The Publisher is asking for a PDF

There are two gradients within the artwork, the entire background is a photograph blending into a Black gradient (the body text sits in white over the black). To get the right effect the black gradient overlay has blending option - Multiply on it and being concerned it may not print propery or have transparency issues I chickened out and justt created one whole background image in PS (photo, gradient and all) and just imported it as a single jpeg back into Illustrator (ensuring I was working in CMYK).

But there is also an outer glow and drop shadow on some white text that sits over the Photograph. Do I need to flatten the image manually before creating the PDF? Or does the creation of the PDF do this for you? When I manually do this it displays correctly providing I tick Preserve Alpha transparency.

I work in Illustrator CC, the publisher has asked for Pass4Press Ver 9, but this preset is for Illustrator CS3. Are there no updates? and indeed does it really matter?

CorelDRAW Graphics Suite X5 :: Drawing A Line Of Varying Thickness?

Apr 30, 2011

As an exercise I'm trying to recreate the leaf image in the X5 guidebook ( pages 127 & 128). No problems until I came to drawing the yellow "veins" on the face of the leaf. I need to create lines that start off thin, get thicker in the middle and go back to thin at the other end.

I managed to create the effect by drawing a closed , filled object, and then playing around using the shape tool to achieve the desired result..

Is there a better, quicker way to do this. I tried doing it using the artistic tools but no luck there.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Subassembly Composer - Varying Depths And Shapes

Oct 15, 2012

I have a case with the Subassembly Composer where I have 3 varying depths. InsideLane, OutsideLane, and Shoulder. My Base shape below these 3 shapes will not setup properly. I understand why, it's because the varying depths will create a potential step up or down situation depending on the depth of the top 3 shapes. This prevents the definition of the Base Shape.

For the sake of quantities I'd like to create a Base Shape. I could create Base1 Base2 Base3 (one below Inside Lane, Outside Lane, and Shoulder). I would prefer not to for clarity purposes.

How could one approach this? I'm thinking that I need some conditional components to clean this up. I'm not a pro writing expressions. I basically need to define the links that define the varying depths between the top 3 depths. I need to create another point and link if the depths vary, and that link needs to be included within the shape definition for Base.

AutoCAD Civil 3D :: Transitioning Between Assemblies Of Varying Cross Slope

Apr 5, 2011

how to create the transition portion of a corridor design where my road cross slope has to uniformly go from 3% to the right to 3% to the left.  I have the two regions set up, but I cannot get that "middle" or "connecting" region where the cross slope is "rotating" around my road profile center line to create this "+3% to -3%" transition.

I have been searching the internet and this forum, but cannot find a good explanation.  There is info out there about setting vertical offsets, but not sure how to do this so the cross slope is uniform all the way through this region (i.e., making sure that if the slope is 1.234% on the  right side, I will get 1.234% on the left side, etc.)
