I have a Photoshop file with a transparent background and when I place it on the Illustrator against a colored background, it's still transparent on the screen, but when I print it, the transparent part comes out slightly white.

I want to have a slick looking website user interface and background image with sheets of realistic looking overlapping sheets of glass.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI cannot get an added layer to show slightly transparent. I like the effect of bringing the main layer to the front and having most of the focus there with a slightly transparent layer for text, etc. Every time I try to use the transparent/opaque slider in the layer panel, it does nothing until I cross the 50% threshold and then the layer just disappears if I go below 50%. I originally had a .gif, but I tried saving it as .png, and .xcf (gimp file) and it still would not work.
Interestingly, I tried it on another .png I had and it worked. Why would it not work sometimes and then work other times? I have attached an example file. I wam trying to make the new layer with text slight transparent.
EDIT: it will not let me upload the file, it eeps saying "undefined", but if you want an example of what I'm doing check out [URL] ...., my website with previous example of slightly transparent layers made in paint.net
I made this part, which is a loft consisting of five symmetric squares. I plan on laser cutting each side, which would be exactly the same.
I can't seem to figure out how to make a flat projection of one of the sides. I have tried in sheet metal, but I don't use that feature in my line of work.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have two layers. I want one layer to fade such that the layer under it "fades in".
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm trying to clone from one layer (photo) to another layer (photo), and simply want an exact pixel-to-pixel replacement. For instance I'd like to copy pixel (10, 20) from the first layer to pixel (10, 20) on the second layer.
I've found that I can set the upper, left corner of Layer 1 as the "source" (using Alt+click), and then go to my "destination" layer, and click on the same upper, left location, and then subsequent click-and-drags will then be aligned, but that is not an elegant process. I'm assuming that there's just a button click or option that I'm not aware of that will make all of this much simpler.
PS: I'm using PS CS5

I think for the moment I'll skip the mouth and ears and eyes aren't so hard to sort. What I can't find however, is any information on how I would go about making the face, hair and neck. What seems easiest for a cack-handed individual such as myself is to use a photo (flat-lit, straight-on, neutral expression, unobscured) of someone's face and then deform it and use some clone-like tools to fill in any gaps.
Obviously I'll need to match the coordinates of particular points on the face and keep large sections entirely unmodified. Then I'll need to do some sort of cloning or smudging to extrapolate bits of the head I don't have.
Well, is it even possible to work from a photo (or couple of photos).
For printing or mailing purpose, i used to re-open big .psb layer files (2-6GB) in cs5 and cs6 with keybombo "alt" and "shift" while double clicking the document in the finder window (10.6 + 10.7.5), in order to save time.
This is not possible anymore, everytime i open a document this way its white and empty in photoshop.
when I use the flat brushes to paint the colours are not flat but are of different tones of the color in the shape of the brush.
View 1 Replies View RelatedHow to ADD (almost) white Border around photo(s) to print in print module (not for creating a JPEG) WITHOUT TRIMMING the photo?
I dont understand why I'm so stupid not to be able to acheeve this simple task with Lightroom WITHOUT TRIMMING the image (altering it's proportion and cutting away photo-content)
(on light-gray backgrownd for instance, to use as cutting indications. I know how to use cutting-indications for images i print without a border)
(i do not whant to use workarounds, the kind of preparing "identity plates", a new one each for infinite variations of proportions to use as fullblown-up backgrounds..)
How do I get my photos printed? I select a photo but I get the maessage that no photo was selected.

using PS 5.0. trying to duplicate is to transform a photo to B&W and then recolor just the subject back to it's original color. I believe I used an eraser to get the color back but am at a loss. It's sort of like what you might see on a TV commercial.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have PSE 11 and I am creating a Christmas theme with various pictures. I have my main photo with 6 layers including a tree and figures which I can move independantly and the background is the checkerboard as the main layers are turned off with only my selections showing. I also have another photo where I have selected part of it and also turned off the main layers leaving a small part with checkered background. When I have the main photo loaded and drag the other one from the photo bin with the move tool, nothing appears on the main picture. I have already dragged the Christmas tree in the same way and that worked. By the way, all the files are .PSD.
View 6 Replies View RelatedI have a stock photo that I want to use that looks perfect except it is too small for what I wanted to use it for. I managed to aquire the same identicle image, only larger but the colors look totally different. Is there a quick and easy way (plugin or 3rd arty app even?) to make the second image's colors take on the exact same colors as the smaller copy? I really need to spend some time learning color correction, I know, but you'd think there'd be a one click solution for something like this.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've been taking and prepping photos of a client's parts. For the most part things have been going fine. I use pen tool for thought - but round or curved - objects and for other objects I have a series of auto actions that clean them up quite nicely and quickly. For example see before and after below of an object I did. Photos were taken with Nikon D70:
I've now run into a really tough one and it's foam. I told my wife to take photos of them with black background so it's more contrasty. But I just can't seem to figure out how to get rid of the black so the result looks "foamy." Evidently, the pen tool just won't work because lines there are two straight. Below is example of photo and I now have about 6 photos similar with more to come. The photo below is reduced version to keep the file size here small:
I cannot figure out how to make a photo all black and white except for a part of it, like a rose. Can someone either tell me how to do this, or point me to a website or tutorial that could show me how?

I type in the text I want and complete everything there, however, when I click OK and make the album, it does not add the "tag"....when the images 'pop' up in PS as it goes through them all and creates the album, you can see that it adds the tag, but when the album is complete, NO TAG
