I want to mask a photo. In PSE7, I thought, I used to just have both layers, black mask on top, and push ctrl G.

Apr 18, 2013having this problem with PSE11 in Windows 8! In sharing preferences, I am only given one option -- Adobe mail. And it won't work. I've used that service before on my work computer running PSE9 and Windows XP. Why don't I get the Windows Mail option? What good is it anyway, sitting there on the start screen and seems to be unavailable otherwise -- I'm usually working from my desktop. I dual boot to Windows XP and have Office 2003 installed there and am able to email photos via Outlook (not express) -- works good. Unfortunately, Office 2003 is not compatible with Win 8 64bit. What do I do now? I saw the tip about downloading and installing Windows Live Mail for Win 7. I thought it was built into Windows 8? Arguablly Windows 8 is a goofy operating system, at least for desktop PCs!

Apr 20, 2013I'm using PE10, and usually start with the "Quick Edit" tab to do a "Smart Fix" where I can select a desirable fix. Sometimes I additionally do Shadow adjustments and/or Highlight adjustments, but not much else. Then go to "Full" edits.
- "Enhance - Auto Contrast" does tonal corrections as I understand. However I usually see no difference after doing this. Is that because when I did the Smart Fix, it is essentially doing the Auto Contrast as one of its adjustments? If so, is it just a waste of time for me to do the Auto Contrast if I have previously done a Smart Fix?
- As the last step, I usually use "Enhance - Unsharp Mask" on my photos with Amount = 70, Radius = 2.0, and Threshold = 0. Are those reasonable numbers? I understand that beginners tend to over-sharpen their photos. I've played around with various values, and these numbers seem to have worked for me, but would just like other opinions since I don't have that professional eye as to what is a great photo. I make sure that I zoom in to print size or more when looking at the results of sharpening.

I'm trying the wedding photo album, but I'm having trouble fitting a picture into the picture "slots" for lack of a better term. One picture that I simply want as a full picture is 8.5 x 11, 300 dpi. Photoshop elements will not let me see the entire picture.

The re-install doesn't ask what you want to do with the current contents like the earlier versions did so I virtually just got a copy of what I already had and still can't delete. Feb 26, 2014I have a photograph with a person on it and would like to remove the background so I can cut the person out and place on a white background. I have tried the erasrue tool but when I get too close to the edge it is not differentiating between the person and the background - the colours are not hugely different. I have tried different ways of doing it with discontinuous option. on demos, it points to the sampling option but that doesn't seem to be available as an option. I have also tried using the selection tool but it is difficult/impossible for me to accurately capture the body of the person only as it traces elements of the door behind the person.

When I go to FILE and select OPEN and then go to the folder where pictures are stored and then click on the folder nothing appears except the message "No items match your search". I have been using Elements 5 on an XP system and have no trouble selecting the folder, opening it, select the pictures I want to edit and edit them. What am I doing wrong in Elements 11?
