Photoshop :: Custom Photo Background
Jul 26, 2005I have this photo (hand1, attached below) and I would like to sit it on the attached background without the white part of it.
how I can do this? I use fireworks but I guess it is pretty much the same as in PS.
Photoshop :: Changing Background On Car Photo
Mar 21, 2013I'm on a Mac 10.8.2 w/ CS6 13.0.
This is one of the tutorials that seems very straight forward(except for a couple typo's) but when I try it, I'm told the file could not be copied to clipboard because it's too large...however it does appear to paste the car over the bottom photo? Or did it?
"First open one of the shots in PhotoShop and select the entire image by pressing Ctrl-A, then cut or copy the image into the clipboard (Ctrl-X or Ctrl-C, either will do the trick), now close this image ... without saving ! Very important, we don't want to change the original image file, you never know you might need it again in the future.
Now create a new document (Ctrl-N) and just click 'OK', no need to change any of the settings, they are set to the content of the clipboard anyway so I can leave them 'as is'. Once the blank document is there hit the Ctrl-V to paste the first image into place. Time to open the second exposure, again Ctrl-A to select the entire shot, cut or copy the image (Ctrl-X or Ctrl-C) and close this file again (Ctrl-W)... do NOT safe the changes to keep the original image intact !
With this second image closed again I am automatically returned to my new document that already contains my first exposure, just hit Ctrl-C to paste the second exposure on top of this one and I'm halfway done already. The order of these shots isn't really that important, you will be exposing parts of one shot into the second one, which one lies below doesn't matter anyway."
Let's say the screen shot below is workable, if not I'll do it the correct way BUT how do I make the brillant layer masking work from here. Everything I've seen says to select the mask, then select the brush, then type of brush, make sure white is the foreground and black is background and just paint. When I paint nothing happens to my images?
Then I've tried going to File>Scripts>Import as Stacks and this seems to bring them in but w/ transparent layers underneath,

Album booklet to be printed in CMYK, obviously. I have an RGB photo, mostly black. After converting it to CMYK and using the channel mixer to return to the original brilliance, the black is CMYK 100-92-85-98. This is obviously too long of a black... way too much ink... using thin white fonts over it prints terrible, etc. How do I adjust the black of the image to something more favorable to printing, like 60-40-40-100?

Apr 20, 2013I'm using PE10, and usually start with the "Quick Edit" tab to do a "Smart Fix" where I can select a desirable fix. Sometimes I additionally do Shadow adjustments and/or Highlight adjustments, but not much else. Then go to "Full" edits.
- "Enhance - Auto Contrast" does tonal corrections as I understand. However I usually see no difference after doing this. Is that because when I did the Smart Fix, it is essentially doing the Auto Contrast as one of its adjustments? If so, is it just a waste of time for me to do the Auto Contrast if I have previously done a Smart Fix?
- As the last step, I usually use "Enhance - Unsharp Mask" on my photos with Amount = 70, Radius = 2.0, and Threshold = 0. Are those reasonable numbers? I understand that beginners tend to over-sharpen their photos. I've played around with various values, and these numbers seem to have worked for me, but would just like other opinions since I don't have that professional eye as to what is a great photo. I make sure that I zoom in to print size or more when looking at the results of sharpening.

Jan 9, 2014I'm changing the background color of some sculpture pics from white to black. I prefer to change lighting/color as opposed to removing/replacing background. Looks more natural for my needs. And it's quicker...But I can't seem to get my edges around sculpture perfect. (or even close) I always get a thin outline (halo?) around the object. I use all of the refine edge tools, but still not great. I want to keep a crisp edge between background and object, so I don't want to feather...I'm using elements 11.

I was showing people how to right/click (Mac: control/click) on the default gray color and change it to black. About half of the participants didn't get this option when following my directions. I went to several laptops and tried it myself with no pop-up window offering "gray, black or custom".

Dec 31, 2013I used the magic extrator to isolate my subject in a high resolution picture (3000x4000 pixels). Then I put it on a background that I got off the Internet. It looked great on the screen, but when I went to print it at a photo store, the resolution was so low that I couldn't use the picture. I also don't know how to add a background any other way. Have others had the resolution of the picture degenerate to this point when it was put on a background?

Aug 29, 2013I am trying to work with some artists in mexico with their weaving. We are using elements 11 on vista 7. We would like to change colors in a piece to see if they are pleasing to the eye. Is it possible to change colors thoughout the whole piece at once? Using a brush to paint over each and every area would be so time consuming as their work is quite intricate. If this is not possible on Elements does Adobe have another software that would accomplish this task.

Mar 22, 2012how to manipulate the size of the wipeout for a text mask.
Simply selecting the masked text in C3D 2011 provided pick boxes at the four corners of the wipeout, making it very easy to manipulate the size of the wipeout box. I'm hoping to do the same in C3D 2012, but the wipeout seems to be treated like a block and lacks the pick boxes.A system variable maybe?

Since the upgrade to mountain lion when I click 'write keyword tag and properties info to photo" it also changes the date the photo was created to the date the info was written to the photo .

Feb 27, 2013I have photoshop elements 7.0 and I am having difficulty making making a photo with a transparent background. According to the tutorials I watched, I am supposed to bring the desired photo which I do and can be seen on the right in the layers box dialogue. Then there I create a copy which is "unlocked" which shows up on my screen. Then, I select the brush tool and I select the areas of the photo which I wish to make transparent and then hit the letter "D" on my keyboard, or the delete button. Although the background is seen gone in the photo in my layers box, the background is still shown in my photo on my screen. The perforated lines are seen and although I keep pressing the D button it does not work.

Jan 4, 2013I use a light box to take pictures of my wood art items. The walls of the light box are made from foam core boards and light wooden frame for increased stability. Even though I can place a poster board for background color inside the light box and curve it up the back to create a seamless surrounding, parts of the corners may get in the picture.
I have recently purchased Photoshop Elements 11 and am in the learning curve. Can I touch up the areas of the light box corners that show up in the photo? This is probably done in Editor. I have used another "old" editor Microsoft Picture It! Publishing Platinum 2001 for years where I would use paint to touch up the background or cover up something in the background. But it was difficult to get the background colors to match even if the color was white.
