View 2 RepliesI've been using Photoshop 7 for years and have some .png graphic elements with clear backgrounds, which I use to make cover photos for a Facebook page. When I open these graphic files with paint.net I expect to see two layers - one for the clear background and one for the graphic itself, but instead I see just one layer. If I then open a photo and try to paste the graphic overlay on top of it the clear background doesn't work, the checkerboard pattern is displayed instead.
is there a simple way to make these files work as they used to in Photoshop, i.e without going to the trouble of masking things off and clearing backgrounds all over again? Can they be opened in paint.net with the see-through background fully functional from the off?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have tried to save a graphic with a drop shadow and no matter what setting I use in the PDF dialog it converts the dark shadow to basically a glow. The PDF renders properly in Adobe Acrobat but when using preview it fails miserably and the program I am ultimately using this graphic in uses the built in OSX PDF renderer. I have tried multiple other apps to try to accomplish this and they either have the same problem or other problems.
View 2 Replies View RelatedEvery time I want to save an PNG image with no background corel keeps merging the object with the background, so it creates a white background. Even if I only open and click save a png image it merges with the background.
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm having real troubles exporting a button which has drop shadow applied to it. The vector shape has Gradient Overlay, Inner Shadow and Drop Shadow applied to it as layer effects.
When I export it with transparency, PNG-24 and then open and place it over the same background, the drop shadow looks quite different.
I created 4 graphics in Illustrator CS3, downloaded them onto a CD cover template and saved as an .ai file which looks fine. When I attempt to then save it as a pdf, one of the graphics drops out.
View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter initial install on my windows 7 64 bit system , all aspects of the software worked for about a month and then I could not open the photo editor. All other aspects of this product opens and works fine . Unfortunately I cannot use the editor or open photos previously modified in the editor. I can open the editor if I log in in safe mode but no other way. I have done 2-3 clean installs as described in previous articles, there are no errors just won't open.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIm ok with Illustrator but not brilliant. What Im looking for is a Graphic Style that I can just add/load into my CS5 version of Illustrator that when I select it will give me a vector drop shadow under text
I would be able to edit the style to suit my text but struggling to create one from scratch after following write-ups and videos for the last 24hours!
Realise there are easier ways to make drop shadows but I need the drop shadow to be scaleable up to large sizes in a vector format as well as the text
I create a graphic in Corel Draw X4 and export it as a .png file. It is a button with rounded corners. It will be going on a black background when put into an iphone app. So as to not have the little white corners show up from the rectangular export window, I made the button on top of a black rectangle, slightly larger than the button. I then selected the black to be transparant during the dialogs of exporting to png. When viewed in an image viewer the black is indeed transparent and does not show up. All looks fine.
To test what it will look like when put on top of a black background, I also make a black square and export it as a .png. I then open the black background in Corel Photopaint and then import the graphic into the background image. A siloutte of it shows up with the marque borders but the graphic itself (the colors and contents of the graphic don't). When combined with the black background it just disappears. Why doesn't it just lay on top of the other graphic?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm using Elements 6. Old school, I know.
I'm trying to add a .png logo with a transparent background to a photo, but it always shows up as a gray background. What am I doing wrong.
I have photoshop elements 7.0 and I am having difficulty making making a photo with a transparent background. According to the tutorials I watched, I am supposed to bring the desired photo which I do and can be seen on the right in the layers box dialogue. Then there I create a copy which is "unlocked" which shows up on my screen. Then, I select the brush tool and I select the areas of the photo which I wish to make transparent and then hit the letter "D" on my keyboard, or the delete button. Although the background is seen gone in the photo in my layers box, the background is still shown in my photo on my screen. The perforated lines are seen and although I keep pressing the D button it does not work.

View 3 Replies View RelatedI use a light box to take pictures of my wood art items. The walls of the light box are made from foam core boards and light wooden frame for increased stability. Even though I can place a poster board for background color inside the light box and curve it up the back to create a seamless surrounding, parts of the corners may get in the picture.
I have recently purchased Photoshop Elements 11 and am in the learning curve. Can I touch up the areas of the light box corners that show up in the photo? This is probably done in Editor. I have used another "old" editor Microsoft Picture It! Publishing Platinum 2001 for years where I would use paint to touch up the background or cover up something in the background. But it was difficult to get the background colors to match even if the color was white.

I have my email sharing preferences in PSE 11 set to use Adobe Email Service. I successfully verified my email and I am able to send photos using this service; however, I am not able to edit the message that accompanies the photos. I can type in the address line and subject line of the email dialog box. But, I am not able to type in the body of the message. I would like to be able to write a personalized message. I believe that I was able to type a message in previous versions of PSE.
