I am unable to make a shape from a photo using the Cookie Cutter Tool. I duplicated the photo. Clicked on cookie cutter icon. Created shape. Clicked on green check mark. The new layer is transparent. I cannot make the shape appear.

That layer then goes transparent with the white and grey checkerboard pattern. I've reset the tool a number of times and doesn't change anything.

since yesterday I have this message : "Unable to use custom shape tool because of a program error"
I use CS6
For some reason after drawing shapes with the shape tool, whether it is one line or a custom shape, I just can't edit it after drawing it. I can't edit it at all and it doesn't appear on any layer. I can delete every single layer and the shape will still be there.
They are not paths, but just to double check I did look under paths but it is empty. It doesn't matter what else I've done, or whether it is a new blank page I can't do anything with any shape once I've drawn it.
I can't get it to select it when I click show transform controls, I can't select it with the marquee tool and delete it (because it isn't on any layer) and I can't place anything over it to cover it.
I have to keep saving before drawing any shape and close and reopen the file if the shape doesn't go quite as I wanted first time. Obviously if I want anything over the shape in any way I can't do it.
Im getting 'unable to use shape tool due to a program error' message??

View 1 Replies View RelatedThe company I work for bought a new vinyl cutter out of the blue without consulting us (the IT Department), and now I'm fumbling about trying to figure out how to use it properly. The cutter requires the use of Adobe Illustrator, so I downloaded the trial before shelling out money from our budget. Now, we used to use this absolutely unimaginably broken piece of software called SignGo, which allowed the creation of 3d shadows rather easily, actually. All our buses have our company name with a 3d shadow behind them, and the owner does not want to change how this looks:

It's damn close to what I want, but as you can see, there are little extra cuts that the vinyl cutter will make, ruining the shadow. Is there any way I can either force AI to not draw those points which should be masked, or to edit the shadow manually?
I have Photoshop Elements 10 which I work with sparingly. I would like to outline a section of the photo (a face) and somehow select it to be the whole photo - in other words to get rid of all background elements. I can outline the area with lasso, but do not know how to just save that area. When I save, the whole original photo is saved. I also tried the magic extractor, which really worked to make just the face and crop everthing else out, but it has a white background the same size as the original photo, which means it is essentially a reactangle with a face in it. I am trying to just get the face so I can paste it into a document, sort of like when people put heads on fake bodies. This is for a church newsletter. I have done this with my old Picture It software, but that was on my old computer. I think I should be able to do this with all the gadgets Photo Shop has, but I must be missing something.

Instead of the normal circle to indicate the area that will be affected by the brush, it turns into a large curved X, or a large half moon. View 1 Replies View RelatedI have been removing photo backgrounds, saving them as .png and using them in a Power Point Project. Apparently when I reopened that PowerPoint project to add more photos, Libre Office's Impress opened the .ppt file rather than PowerPoint. When I had added all of the png photos and saved the ppt file again I saw that it was "Impress" not PowerPoint that was saving he file, but it still saved it as a ppt file.
I was not concerned until I went to open the ppt file with PowerPoint and discovered that PowerPoint could not open that ppt file. I decided that I had to start fresh and add all of the png photos in a new Pow1erPoint Project. Then I found that he transparent background ol all of the png files had been changed to black. I must have transparent backgrounds. So I took each photo back into Paint.Net and used the Magic Wand to remove the backgrounds, then saved them as png files. When I sent to use those edited .png files the backgrounds were still black. I have tried removing those black backgrounds several times but they continue to have black backgrounds. what I can try to get the transparent backgrounds back?

View 2 Replies View RelatedAfter initial install on my windows 7 64 bit system , all aspects of the software worked for about a month and then I could not open the photo editor. All other aspects of this product opens and works fine . Unfortunately I cannot use the editor or open photos previously modified in the editor. I can open the editor if I log in in safe mode but no other way. I have done 2-3 clean installs as described in previous articles, there are no errors just won't open.
View 2 Replies View RelatedIn Photoshop CS6, when you have a shape layer with a layer mask, and the two are not linked together, and the layer mask is selected, you should be able to scale the layer mask independently of the shape. What actually happens is the shape gets scaled and the layer mask stays untouched. In fact, even if you option-click on the layer mask to show the mask by itself, and then try to scale it, you still end up scaling the shape instead of the mask. Even if you go as far as to make a pixel selection of the layer mask and attempt to scale the pixels, the shape still gets scaled and the layer mask still stays put! Unbelievable!
This works correctly in CS4, but not in CS6 (don't know about CS5).
