Having trouble with the cookie cutter tool. I duplicate my image, select the cookie cutter tool, draw the shape onto my image and click the green check box. That layer then goes transparent with the white and grey checkerboard pattern. I've reset the tool a number of times and doesn't change anything.

When applying a watermark, whether I set the font to 8 or 72, it appears microscopic on the photo (must zoom to see if its there). I've tried watermarking via adding text and via the "Process Multiple Files" applications with the same result. (The opacity is fine.) I don't know if there's a hidden setting someplace I need to change or if this is ann Adobe defect. Since I've recently uploaded the program, am resistent to having to pay for Adobe tech support!

I already know how to use clipping masks in order to achieve the visual equivalent of this, but I want to take the resulting viewable area and turn it into its own object/path. The problem is, when I, let's say, create a circle clipping mask over an image, the visual effect is a circular cutout of the image, but in Illustrator terms, what I'm actually left with is a group made up of the clipping mask and the image behind the mask. All I want is the cutout, and I want to me able to turn that into a (compound) path.
I've read a hundred different blogs/posts/tutorials, but they only teach you how to create a clipping mask, which is only half of what I want to do.
I have been away from PhotoShop for awhile and have not used CS3 for over a year. When I try to use the clone tool a pop up tells me unable to use tool due to a program error. How can I fix?

If I presses and hold the Alt key I see the cursor change from the current tool to the eyedropper tool. If I press and hold both the Ctrl+Alt keys a see a cursor icon change to an icon that has two up pointing Arrow heads one Black the other White. What tool is that cursor for? It seems to copy and move the current layer and move its position over the canvas.

View 14 Replies View RelatedI have a Graphtec cutter CE5000-60 and it was connected to my old computer via USB and my old version of illustrator CS3 had the option (in the 'file' drop down menu) to cut out a vector illustration direct. I now have a new computer and have just finished installing all I need including the driver for my cutter. When I go into the new iullustrator (trial version of creative cloud)... there is not a 'cutting' option. I can see the cutter in the printing list... but this is not how it was set up originally.. it had an option apart that was not in the printing dialogue window.

Is that not a bug? I used this way of selecting elements often, and it is not good for me with this new behaviour.

It seems as though I have a button pressed or something turned on but cannot figure what is wrong.
I need to cut out letters from plastic on a laser cutter. I use "no fill" and a hairline outline and it works fine. But occasionally I want to change a font to be "thicker" or have a thicker line but still maintain the hairline outline for cutting. I can get thicker lines on screen by using the contour tool but how to remove the fill and keep the hairline outline. To complicate matters, I need these letters to be joined together, so I also need to use the weld tool.
