I'm using Elements 6. Old school, I know.
I'm trying to add a .png logo with a transparent background to a photo, but it always shows up as a gray background. What am I doing wrong.

I created a .png file from our organization logo. I used the magic wand to select and "delete" the backgound, leaving it transparent. However, when placed on our web site, the logo edges have a slight line. What must I do to not have the lines (to make the background truly transparent)?

I have photoshop elements 7.0 and I am having difficulty making making a photo with a transparent background. According to the tutorials I watched, I am supposed to bring the desired photo which I do and can be seen on the right in the layers box dialogue. Then there I create a copy which is "unlocked" which shows up on my screen. Then, I select the brush tool and I select the areas of the photo which I wish to make transparent and then hit the letter "D" on my keyboard, or the delete button. Although the background is seen gone in the photo in my layers box, the background is still shown in my photo on my screen. The perforated lines are seen and although I keep pressing the D button it does not work.

I'm designing a header logo for a website with Photoshop CS4 (Mac) but am struggling to understand how to get the background transparent.
In Photoshop I've designed the logo using multiple layers. Prior to saving I've disabled the background layers (used for testing purposes), thus leaving a transparent area behind the logo (shown as a checkerboard pattern). However, I don't understand what the next step is. I've tried "Save for web" as well as flattening it first, only to result in a white background. I suppose I don't need to flatten it then I've also messed around with the transparency and matte options in the "Save for web" window but to no avail (yes, I know that I need to save in either GIF or PNG though for the latter I don't know the difference between PNG 8 and 24 and which of the three formats I should go for).
As for "Matte"; is this the color in the image which should be made transparent? So that in my case with a logo containing white among several colors I should make the background something entirely different from the logo as a background layer and choose "Matte" for that? I've also experimented with that but to no avail.

I have tried 10 times now and all I am trying to do is remove a white background to a logo and export so that the background is transparent. Every time I remove the background and export and open, it shows up with the white background again. I know this is simple and driving me nuts.
I'm using CS5.1

I was asked to cut out the background from a logo to make it transparent so the logo would look nice on a variety of backgrounds. I've been given a good quality jpeg file.
What I did was I selected (by colour) the background (white), inverted the selection, copied it and pasted as a new image.
It's all fine (the logo itself doesn't have any other elements) but there's still some whiteish/greyish outline around certain elements of the logo.
If I were to do it manually, it'd probably take ages. What would be the best way to accomplish it?

I have seen that there are several posts regarding "transparent backgrounds," but but they're difficult to follow.
I'm using AI within CS5.5 but new to it. I am importing/converting a JPG file to vector format. The image is a logo with a large black circle boundry and a white opaque background. The background elements inside the boundry circle are also opaque white, and I wish to leave that as is. The edges of the circle touch the boundries of the JPG file tangentially by about 100px or so on each side when the JPG is viewed at original size.
My objective is to make everything outside the boundry circle a "transparent" background. What would be the best/easiest way to do this within AI? Is there, for example, a tool that will draw a circle that I can expand to get on the edge of the black boundry circle, and then make everything outside it transparent?

I'm practicing using Coreldraw and made a logo with a transparent background. It's a combination of rectangles and text. I exported the logo as a png. Everything looks fine in corel, but when I upload it to the web the edges are very ragged on the rectangles and text. I tried it with and without converting to curves and the same thing happens.

I'm trying to import a photo created in photoshop with a transparent background to Adobe Flash and I'm getting a noticeable halo around the photo. This is exported as a PNG-24. I've tried going in to the photoshop file and taking off a little bit, but it still gives me the same outcome. I've also tried exporting as a GIF, and a PNG-8 with a matte. No matter what I do, it leaves the halo.

I made a logo using elements. I have tried numerous ways to make it transparent but when I put it on my pictures there is a white square box that appears with it. I want my whole logo to be transparent. I have saved it png, png 24. And still nothing works. How to get this box to disappear. Just to make sure I wasn't doing something wrong I took a photo and made the background transparent and took the selection that was not and put it into a different photo and the white square edge was still around it.

I've been asked to create a set of photos with a faded background. My boss gave me the attached image as an example. I initially thought it would be fairly easy. I could add a layer mask and a Gaussian Blur. I have successfully faded the edges, but I have only managed to do it with a color fill layer, I can't work out how to get the background transparent without it looking jagged and ugly. I need to effect to look like the attachment.

I want to lift image from photo and then do transparent background.
Is there any knack of selecting the item from the image cleanly. In my case its a dog. I use the lasso to go around the object but that leaves a 2mm space where the background shows through.
(Is there a way to use the lasso to make a partial selection then remove your finger from the mouse and then continue your selection from where you left off ?)
After I have Deleted the inverted selection I use the Background remover to remove the remaining 2mm of background around the dog.Again is there a knack to using this tool ? I Googled and it said to keep the removal circule half in and half out of the actual image. Also is ther a correct setting in the menu bar for the BG/removal tool..Im just experimenting.
my settings at this moment are.
size 18
Hardness 100
Step 10
Density 100
Thickness 100
Rotation 0
Opacity 100
Tolarance 75
Sharpness 100
Sampling: Continuous
Limits: Contiguous
Boxes not ticked. Auto tollerance and Use all Layers.
Box ticked: Ignore Lightness.

I am trying to save a tif file to gif and at the same time setting the white background transparent. I did this in Corel Photo Paint 11 with the following
Call PhotoPaint11App.CorelScript.FilterGIF(0, 0, 1, 1, 0, 0, 0, 0) Call PhotoPaint11App.CorelScript.FileSave(gWebFolderMain & gMVID & "-NakkeO.gif", PHOTOPAINT.cdrFilter.cdrGIF, 0)
Now in Corel Photo Paint X5 this doesn't work any more. What have changed and what am I doing wrong. According to documentation it seems to be correct.

recently bought a copy of Elements 11. I have an image with a solid white background, which I want to change to a transparent background. I just can't seem to work out how to make the solid white background transparent. I have saved the image as a PSD, then used Magic Extractor hoping that I could highlight to retain the image and then 'highlight' the backround to become transparent, but it does not seem to work that way.

I have a private project to add some Swedish text to my artwork. I need this text to have a transparent background so my artwork shows through and be editable. I don't have a Swedish keyboard.
I have received the text as a word document but when I copy and paste onto a new layer I don't know how to successfully get rid of the white background, and for it to be editable (need to change where line breaks are).
I could retype the text myself within PSE as there are only four characters that are specific to the swedish language, can these be created and added to whatever font I select and then create shortcuts to use them where appropriate?
I am currently using PSE9.

I am looking to crop some pictures and make the background transparent. This is one of my pictures below. The problem I am coming across is with it being see through, I cant seem to just pick and grab the blue rods, golf balls and clips they are sitting on. It seems to want to pick up everything including the gray background. I heard photoshop would make this possible. is this true? Also, what program would be the best for me? I want to spend the littlest i can. I am looking at the adobe photoshop elements and premier movie element 10. Would this work? Any good video describing how to crop and make the background transparent.

I am trying to overlay a logo on top of my titles. The logo is a circle and is in PNG format. When I use this logo in documents it is totally transparent with only the circle showing. However, when I try to use it in my video the circle has a white square around it, the white being the transparent area.

I want to create a transparent text on a solid color background, and I need text transparency to go all the way to through the image (i.e. do not show the solid color background). I have the transparent background layer, the solid rectangle layer that occupies part of the image, and the text layer (with text element) on the top of the solid rectangle layer. How do I make text transparency to go all the way through? Here is a similar example for Photoshop CS, only in my case, the background layer is transparent (i.e. there is no picture): URL... Basically, I need to make the letters see through, so they show the background color on which the image will be placed. Is it possible to do in Photoshop Elements? I'm using version 9 on Windows 7.
