Aug 20, 2013I believe it is opening the jpeg preview stored with the DNG. Is this true or does Preview support DNG an RAW natively somehow? The particular image I opened, just to try it, looked brighter and more saturated than opening the same image in a converter.

Aug 27, 2012Any alternative browser maybe to view/preview giant sized .psb files? I am now working on files from 5 - 20 GB each, 30 - 50,000 pixels, and am stuck using Bridge to go thru them, which takes forever to create thumbnails, and is often unreliable, as every now and then Bridge will just refuse to create a thumbnail for a certain image or 2 and drives me crazy.
Am currently using CS3.
Yes I know this is an older version, I just wish there was a more efficient way to preview large files. PS obviously generates a flattened image preview every time u save, but the previews Bridge uses are fairly low res to my eye, yet it still takes ridiculously long to load each one, which I dont understand if during the save that preview image should be 'in' the file anyway.

Photoshop :: 4 Channels Files Per Pic + Preview File
Feb 24, 2004I've got a folder containing 170 pics. They are all DCS 1.0 files which means that folder actually contains 850 items (4 channels-files per pic + preview file).
I need to open each one of 170 pics and save them as EPS (either binary or JPEG - doesn't matter). If I try to automate it, it actually tries to open every channel instead of opening only the preview file.

Oct 7, 2012When looking at Canon RAW files (.CR2) I can see the previews fine in Preview. Not the same for RX100 arw files. I can see the thumbnails ,
However preview window shows an icon with "exec" in it. Also, adjustments made in Camera Raw do not show in the thumbnails as with other my Canon 5D II raw files.

Aug 31, 2013When working with tif files, I usually put all layers in a folder, and turned off the "eye" on the layer panel. So the size of the tif file would reduce to half.
But there's no way to preview the tif file with its eyes turned off in Mac. Is there a mac plug-in that let you do that?

Dec 10, 2012Being an architectural photographer I create a lot of layered files with many exposures with different lights on and daylight separately. I always save my layered files in a folder called Layered files in the project. I also save flattened 8 bit Tif's at full resolution for my client as a print file in a separate folder along with another folder for web and device optimized files. When my client opens some of my flattened files they tell me the only see one layer. When I open some of them in Preview I get the same result. I only see the last layer I put into my layered file. But when I open the same photo in Bridge I see the full flattened file as I saved it. What can I do about that?

Aug 23, 2013Virtually all of my DNGs from the last four years do not display properly when previewed in OSX's Finder or opened in the Preview app. Everything in Lightroom works just fine. I note that the "linear" option is off (seems to be the default) when I import from the SDHC card to LR. I have LR "Copy as DNG" and I apply nothing other than a renaming of the file (filename.date.dng).
I've dumped the files in Library/Quicklook but that doesn't do anything.
All the importing has been done with the latest version of ACR (Camera Raw 7.1 is the latest I have).
When I use Quicklook (spacebar) in the Finder or open the file using Apple's Preview app, all I see is a large black rectangle sometimes with some "noise" appearing in the frame. Yet LR has no trouble and I can export as jpeg or tiff without any issue.
I'm running 10.8.4 fully updated. I've dumped all the caches and cleaned everything using Onyx and restarted. Still not working.
The only thing I've noticed is my older DNGs (which came from a Fuji S9100) are 12-bit (and I -can- see those files in Finder preview and the Preview app!) whereas the newer DNGs (from 2009 and newer) which were shot with my S100fs are 14-bit. All the newer DNGs have the problem.

AutoCAD Inventor :: Files Show Preview But Don't Open
Sep 1, 2013I have Inventor 2014 installed on my computer. My O/S is Windows 7 Ultimate. The problem I am experiencing is that when I open the tutorial files and click to open a file such as VBelts.iam or bearing.iam, the preview of the item will show in the tutorial files dialog box. But, when I click to open it in the graphics area, nothing appears. At the bottom of the graphic screen it will say that the particular file such as VBelts.iam has been selected. I have tried every solution I can think of including making sure in the browser that visibility is on. The problem didn't occur in the previous tutorials. When I clicked open in the dialog box it worked as it should. The problem first occured when I tried to open SkeletonBase.ipt and has continued in the next few tutorials.

Well, I was working on an illustration, just trying things here and there, and so I have many different layers of elements, some of them I want show, and some of them not (I don't want to delete them though, cause they may be useful later). At some point I realized that when I saved the file and went to see the preview (space bar) in its folder, the image had both hidden and shown elements.
So this is my doubt: is this normal? is there a way to show the preview with only the shown elements? Of course, when I export the file to .png, for example, I get the picture I should get (without the hidden stuff).
Lightroom :: No Preview Of RAW Files When Importing From A Fuji SL1000
Mar 12, 2014when connecting a Fuji FinePix SL1000 to LR 5.3, I cant see the preview pics of the .raf files. So it's quite hard to figure out which ones have already been imported or are not worth to be imported. When I connect my EOS 6D I can see the Thumbnails of the .cr2 files. Is there anything that needs to be configured in order to show the previews?

Sep 3, 2012A feature notably absent from the Oil Paint filter is any way to temporarily disable the effect (e.g., not preview it).I happen to like using Oil Paint to make refllections in the surface of water smoother and more "liquid" (which involves turning off the "Shine"), and it would really be nice if I could easily gauge the amount of the effect easily by blinking back and forth between original and processed image with a quick "disable preview" functionality.
With most standard filters, one can either uncheck a [ ] Preview box, and/or click the mouse button down on the image to temporarily show what the image is like without the effect.Yes, I know I can turn the Stylization down to 0.1 and see how a very minimal amount of the effect can be applied. And I can look at the original image in Photoshop proper, but of course that can't be zoomed while the Oil Paint filter is active.
Also, the zooming / panning seems kind of stiffly implemented.In summary, the more or less standard and expected filter features I'd like to see added to this (new class of) GPU-accelerated filters are:Preview/No Preview capability. It doesn't have to update Photoshop, just the preview display in the filter itself. I suggest a [ ] Preview checkbox and/or an on-mouse-click temporary effect disable.
Modal click and drag Zooming vs. Panning - i.e., based on a Zoom or Pan function selected (e.g., via an icon along the left) vs. having to hold modifier keys down. I personally would want it set to Zoom by default, not Pan. Since the filter has scroll bars (a Good Thing), I would have thought Zoom would have been a better default as it is. I have implemented these things in my own GPU-accelerated plug-ins, so I know that all the infrastructure Adobe needs to support them is already in there. These changes are controls only and should be trivial to implement.

Oct 1, 2012I just started using Lightroom 4.1 Trial version (coming from Aperture). I exported JPEG versions of some images using an ICC profile. On my iMac running Lion 10.7.5 the pictures do not show a thumbnail, the file on the desktop just shows "JPEG". I could not open the file with the Preview App, but I am able to open it with DPP (Canon software)? Also the file shows that it has 0 x 0 dimentions when I click Get Info even though it is about 25 Megs in size?
The message I get is "The file “Edit-739820120223Canon EOS 7D.jpg” could not be opened. It may be damaged or use a file format that Preview doesn’t recognize."

Oct 11, 2013we upgraded to CorelDraw X6. Since yesterday we have been struggling with thumbnail previews under Windows 7 - the feature we loved and got well accustomed to. Earlier we have used X3 version with this preview feature, but with X6 it seems no longer to work.
We have checked the related windows directories as well as the CorelDraw Shell Extension - all things (dlls and exes) look just fine in their places and installed but still we cannot get the thumbnail preview work.

I just purchased a brand new NIKON D3300 took a few pictures, signed up for the Adobe annual Photographers Creative Cloud annual program and my first task to have Lightroom import a few test photos fails and I have no clue why my raw + jpgs can't be imported. at the outset In Lightroom I also got a "Preview unavailable for this file" message for every image file when I pointed to the memory card I had connected to my computer:
