Photoshop :: 4 Channels Files Per Pic + Preview File
Feb 24, 2004
I've got a folder containing 170 pics. They are all DCS 1.0 files which means that folder actually contains 850 items (4 channels-files per pic + preview file).
I need to open each one of 170 pics and save them as EPS (either binary or JPEG - doesn't matter). If I try to automate it, it actually tries to open every channel instead of opening only the preview file.
I have a file with Black and 5 spot channels. When creating a pdf, only the last channel appears and all else is white. If I delete one channel, any channel, if appears with all plates showing. I created a DCS file, added one new spot channel at a time for whatever art was printing in that channel. When I go past 4 channels, that's when things get strange.
The file prints correctly, however will not appear correctly in the PDF. And, I need to send a correct looking PDF to client.
What are they used for? I have been using PS for around 3 years primarly for web design and I have never used channels outside of loading a selection. I searched for more info; I mostly got tutorials that use alpha channels, but no real explanation as to what they primarly do.
I need to save some images with transparency that are in .BMP format, but said images seem to have what's called an alpha channel, which covers all of the image's background and not the transparency that I need. I've tried to use the "Convert color to alpha" option, but it appears that that only works in the image that I want and not in the alpha channel itself (yeah, I didn´t know what alpha channel was until then).
I leave an example of one of the various .BMP files that I want converted to .PNG with transparency.
when I try to save a tagra file with a alpha channel in photoshop 7 the box for the alpha channel is greyed out, with an warning sign next to it, and the line below stating "file must be saved as a copy with this selection" When I examine the saved file the alpha channel is not there!
Has anybody got any idea why?
My old version of photoshop 6, allows you to save alpha channels!
I have well over 10,000 brushes, couple gigs, is there a good file viewer for abr/brush files? looking for anything to view, organize, combine, etc. abr files, I am getting sick of doing it through photoshop,
I believe it is opening the jpeg preview stored with the DNG. Is this true or does Preview support DNG an RAW natively somehow? The particular image I opened, just to try it, looked brighter and more saturated than opening the same image in a converter.
I shot two D3s last night and downloaded both cards. One the NEF files preview like normal and the other has NEF files that won't preview but open in Photoshop just fine.
I have reactivated Photoshop CS3 on my new computer. The only thing that is diffirent and irritating is that I have no preview of my PDF files - just the Photoshop icon. When I go to File - Open - I have no preview of the thumbnails. I didn't have this problem on my old computer. Same photoshop. I have now have Windows Vista.
This seems to be happening to large files in general, but happens more often when saving down from CS6 to CS3 (for preflighting). The files will save, then throw this error when re-opening. The preview of the file in the Finder will disappear and the file becomes useless. We are on Macs running 10.6.8 and Illustrator CS6 (fully patched).
Any alternative browser maybe to view/preview giant sized .psb files? I am now working on files from 5 - 20 GB each, 30 - 50,000 pixels, and am stuck using Bridge to go thru them, which takes forever to create thumbnails, and is often unreliable, as every now and then Bridge will just refuse to create a thumbnail for a certain image or 2 and drives me crazy. Â Am currently using CS3. Â Yes I know this is an older version, I just wish there was a more efficient way to preview large files. PS obviously generates a flattened image preview every time u save, but the previews Bridge uses are fairly low res to my eye, yet it still takes ridiculously long to load each one, which I dont understand if during the save that preview image should be 'in' the file anyway.
there is no preview in CS6 when you open a file! I´m talking about the thumbnail preview when you are selecting a file in the "open file"- menu tab. Where is it??
When looking at Canon RAW files (.CR2) I can see the previews fine in Preview. Not the same for RX100 arw files. I can see the thumbnails ,
However preview window shows an icon with "exec" in it. Also, adjustments made in Camera Raw do not show in the thumbnails as with other my Canon 5D II raw files.
When working with tif files, I usually put all layers in a folder, and turned off the "eye" on the layer panel. So the size of the tif file would reduce to half. Â But there's no way to preview the tif file with its eyes turned off in Mac. Is there a mac plug-in that let you do that?
In Photoshop CS6, if you save a picture as a 32-bit JPEG, there is a little bit of words saying how preview and file size is only available in 8-bit, and then it spells available a second time incorrectly "available".
In PS 6, is there a way to save a eps file with a 8 bit Mac preview? When scripting our database errors when the eps is saved with the 8 bit tif preview.
Being an architectural photographer I create a lot of layered files with many exposures with different lights on and daylight separately. I always save my layered files in a folder called Layered files in the project. I also save flattened 8 bit Tif's at full resolution for my client as a print file in a separate folder along with another folder for web and device optimized files. When my client opens some of my flattened files they tell me the only see one layer. When I open some of them in Preview I get the same result. I only see the last layer I put into my layered file. But when I open the same photo in Bridge I see the full flattened file as I saved it. What can I do about that?
i am having so much trouble getting my photo book order. It is all don't and ready to be ordered. When it is done preparing for order i get a online service error 3:OLS refused to provide a preview for file.
In Photoshop Elements 9, I created a slideshow, which included text on the slides. The preview looks exactly how I want it, but when I output to a .wmv file, the text becomes over-sized and spills off the slide (so only about two-thirds of it is visible). How can I get the outputted .wmv file to look exactly like the preview?
When I preview an image in windows, the properties panel says my file is only 958KB with dimensions 2400 x 2369. But when I open the file in photoshop (I have CS6) , it says my file is over 16MB with the same dimensions.
I work in Mac OS Mountain Lion. PSD preview doesn't update when i change psd-file placed on external hdd or flash drive (ntfs or exfat).Create psd-file. Сhanged psd-file in Photoshop cs6 (preview don't update).
When I add a layer to a photoshop file, flatten and save, the preview only shows the layer that I added, not the whole file. See info window below. It causes problems when I send it to other people, they think I haven't sent the correct file. How do I get that preview to update?
trying recover anything i can from a corrupted PSD file. What happened was I saved my work and closed photoshop and hit the reset button on my PC afterwards by mistake (i dont see why this caused a problem because the program was fully closed at the time). When I open the file now it says it uses an unsupported blending mode, if i press ok I get an error saying incompatible PS version, if I press flatten it says unexpected end of file was encountered. Ive tried PSD repair tools and searched the net for solutions and there doesn't seem to be any.
The thing is, the thumbnail of the file seems to be intact because I can still see it as the file icon. I wanted to know if there was any way i can access this thumbnail image so i can enlarge it.
Why did Adobe remove the file preview area from the File > Open dialog box? I like having all my file requests showing Details mode so I need the Preview window when I am navigating, browsing and opening files.  Illustrator CS6 still has a Preview window, granted it only works on AI files, it should be able to preview PDFs and EPS files correctly, let alone all raster formats.
