In Photoshop CS6, if you save a picture as a 32-bit JPEG, there is a little bit of words saying how preview and file size is only available in 8-bit, and then it spells available a second time incorrectly "available".
View 5 RepliesWhen I preview an image in windows, the properties panel says my file is only 958KB with dimensions 2400 x 2369. But when I open the file in photoshop (I have CS6) , it says my file is over 16MB with the same dimensions.
View 2 Replies View RelatedI'll come straight out and admit: yes, my real problem here is my laziness but, ignoring that, the 'problem' I have is getting so tired of and annoyed with the whole trial & error schtick that comes with saving animated gifs (scale image, save, check file size, repeat to first step until file size is finally desirable).
Two possible solutions come to mind, one I admit is probably quite unrealistic but I would think the other has a good chance of existing.
First, the unrealistic solution possibility. Is there a plugin or anything else where I can input a file size and it could calculate the exact (or close to exact) scale I would need to resize to if I want the gif to be around that file size? (i.e. "For this gif to be 879kb your best bet would (probably) be 515 x 283")
Now then, the more realistic (or at least I think it is) solution possibility. What about being able to preview a file size of an animated gif before saving? (i.e. "If you save this 400 x 226 gif it will most likely be '(insert byte size here)'kb")
In the new Image>Image Size dialog box, the preview is always at 100% which seems a bit disorienting.Is there a way to set that to default to "fit".
View 6 Replies View RelatedWhen I have a text layer selected (and then chose the font-size selector), I cannot use the scroll wheel (or the arrow keys for that matter) to change the font-size the way I do for the rest of text properties (let's say the font-family). In this particular case I have to click the font-size box in order to be able to manipulate it, and even so, there is not live-preview when the value changes, I have to press enter for it to take effect.
View 24 Replies View RelatedIn Photoshop 6 the preview of the brushsize get almost invisible when working with low opacity, the same problem occurs when working with Dodge tool and low exposure.
In earlier versions the preview showed in 100% even if working in low opacity. Now it's impossible to se how big feather och the size of the brush without first going up too higher opacity. Can I somehow show the preview in 100% even if working in low opacity like 3%?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a 180GB SSD, which I specifically bought, to make Lightroom (4.4) faster and to store 1:1 previews. Initially, I set up Lightroom catalog (containing 18221 images) to never delete 1:1 previews and stored the previews in a high quality mode. This quickly fill up my SSD. I would like to set it up to store as many previews as it can while leaving atleast, say 20GB, free on SSD. The alternative, which is to discard 1:1 previews after 30 days or so, is not really acceptable to me.

View 3 Replies View RelatedCan someone please explain to me about file sizes and image dimensions. I have to put together a collage which is 165mm high by 258mm wide. If I click file new and choose default resolution (72) then the file size is ok, if I type in 300 dpi the image becomes huge.
If i chosse 300 dpi then the images I was going to use seem tiny on such a vast workspace - Im confused why does the canvas become so large when changing resolution?
This seems to be happening to large files in general, but happens more often when saving down from CS6 to CS3 (for preflighting). The files will save, then throw this error when re-opening. The preview of the file in the Finder will disappear and the file becomes useless. We are on Macs running 10.6.8 and Illustrator CS6 (fully patched).

View 3 Replies View Related When I save a file to jpeg the image size in photoshop remains the same as it was as a tiff file BUT according to the information that comes up in windows properties the file is much smaller (300k vs 2.9mg).  Can you advise me which is the correct file size?  If the correct size is the one showing in windows (300K) does mean that the file compressed in JPG and lost a lot of information?
 and if this is the case how can I prevent that from happening and still save the file as a JPG?  [ I would like the image to remain the size photoshop shows it to be] . Thank you very much.
In PS 6, is there a way to save a eps file with a 8 bit Mac preview? When scripting our database errors when the eps is saved with the 8 bit tif preview.

But when i try to see it in print preview it only shows my document between 3 1/2 ft. to 4 1/2 ft.

View 2 Replies View RelatedI've got a folder containing 170 pics. They are all DCS 1.0 files which means that folder actually contains 850 items (4 channels-files per pic + preview file).
I need to open each one of 170 pics and save them as EPS (either binary or JPEG - doesn't matter). If I try to automate it, it actually tries to open every channel instead of opening only the preview file.
In Photoshop Elements 9, I created a slideshow, which included text on the slides. The preview looks exactly how I want it, but when I output to a .wmv file, the text becomes over-sized and spills off the slide (so only about two-thirds of it is visible). How can I get the outputted .wmv file to look exactly like the preview?

View 4 Replies View Relatedtrying recover anything i can from a corrupted PSD file. What happened was I saved my work and closed photoshop and hit the reset button on my PC afterwards by mistake (i dont see why this caused a problem because the program was fully closed at the time). When I open the file now it says it uses an unsupported blending mode, if i press ok I get an error saying incompatible PS version, if I press flatten it says unexpected end of file was encountered. Ive tried PSD repair tools and searched the net for solutions and there doesn't seem to be any.
The thing is, the thumbnail of the file seems to be intact because I can still see it as the file icon. I wanted to know if there was any way i can access this thumbnail image so i can enlarge it.
Why did Adobe remove the file preview area from the File > Open dialog box? I like having all my file requests showing Details mode so I need the Preview window when I am navigating, browsing and opening files.
Illustrator CS6 still has a Preview window, granted it only works on AI files, it should be able to preview PDFs and EPS files correctly, let alone all raster formats.
I have my PS CS file browser preferences set to "High Quality Previews" and the previews look great--sharp and crisp! However, when I actually open up the image it doesn't seem as sharp--it's a little soft.
What is the "high quality preview" doing to make it look so sharp? Does anyone know what settings the preview is using?
I want my actual images to look as sharp as the previews! It seems like a major teaser that the preview looks BETTER than the opened image.
My picture’s original size was 108.2 MB in tiff. After I developed my photo in Lightroom and exported the new image, the file decrease to 50MB in tiff. Why did Lightroom decrease the file size to more than half the original size? Is there a way to increase the exportation file size to that I may develop a large size print?

That is; a single click on a file from within Photoshop gives a small preview image to tell you what it is you are opening. This is crucial to professional photographers in the industry working quickly with lots of images as I do in the medical/scientific photography field.
Every other version of Photoshop has had this feature and I can tell you a lot of power users like myself are not using CS6 just because a single click doesn't preview what you are opening. My company just spent $10,000 upgrading six machines and no-one is using CS6 for work - they are sticking with CS5. CS6 is only good for 'playing around' with photos, if production is key, then to save time, we need to see what we are opening on a single click - it's a no brainer! Check the forums to see this that is true, and if you are reading this and agree with me, write and tell adobe to fix this - pronto!
I can't view RAW thumbnails when I go into the open dialog (not organizer) just regular file/open in PSE10. (win 7 x64). (Sony alpha 33)
Is there a cache issue?
Can I clear it?
I can see a preview of the file on the bottom of the window, but no thumbnails.
.jpg images from wither the same camera or another camera display fine.
