May 27, 2013there is no preview in CS6 when you open a file! I´m talking about the thumbnail preview when you are selecting a file in the "open file"- menu tab. Where is it??

Illustrator :: Preview Of File In Finder Will Disappear And File Becomes Useless
Sep 11, 2012This seems to be happening to large files in general, but happens more often when saving down from CS6 to CS3 (for preflighting). The files will save, then throw this error when re-opening. The preview of the file in the Finder will disappear and the file becomes useless. We are on Macs running 10.6.8 and Illustrator CS6 (fully patched).

Feb 24, 2004I've got a folder containing 170 pics. They are all DCS 1.0 files which means that folder actually contains 850 items (4 channels-files per pic + preview file).
I need to open each one of 170 pics and save them as EPS (either binary or JPEG - doesn't matter). If I try to automate it, it actually tries to open every channel instead of opening only the preview file.

Aug 7, 2011trying recover anything i can from a corrupted PSD file. What happened was I saved my work and closed photoshop and hit the reset button on my PC afterwards by mistake (i dont see why this caused a problem because the program was fully closed at the time). When I open the file now it says it uses an unsupported blending mode, if i press ok I get an error saying incompatible PS version, if I press flatten it says unexpected end of file was encountered. Ive tried PSD repair tools and searched the net for solutions and there doesn't seem to be any.
The thing is, the thumbnail of the file seems to be intact because I can still see it as the file icon. I wanted to know if there was any way i can access this thumbnail image so i can enlarge it.

Jun 1, 2012Why did Adobe remove the file preview area from the File > Open dialog box? I like having all my file requests showing Details mode so I need the Preview window when I am navigating, browsing and opening files.
Illustrator CS6 still has a Preview window, granted it only works on AI files, it should be able to preview PDFs and EPS files correctly, let alone all raster formats.

Apr 11, 2005I have my PS CS file browser preferences set to "High Quality Previews" and the previews look great--sharp and crisp! However, when I actually open up the image it doesn't seem as sharp--it's a little soft.
What is the "high quality preview" doing to make it look so sharp? Does anyone know what settings the preview is using?
I want my actual images to look as sharp as the previews! It seems like a major teaser that the preview looks BETTER than the opened image.

Jun 17, 2013restore the the ability of Photoshop to open with a preview on windows machines. That is; a single click on a file from within Photoshop gives a small preview image to tell you what it is you are opening. This is crucial to professional photographers in the industry working quickly with lots of images as I do in the medical/scientific photography field.
Every other version of Photoshop has had this feature and I can tell you a lot of power users like myself are not using CS6 just because a single click doesn't preview what you are opening. My company just spent $10,000 upgrading six machines and no-one is using CS6 for work - they are sticking with CS5. CS6 is only good for 'playing around' with photos, if production is key, then to save time, we need to see what we are opening on a single click - it's a no brainer! Check the forums to see this that is true, and if you are reading this and agree with me, write and tell adobe to fix this - pronto!

I can see a preview of the file on the bottom of the window, but no thumbnails.
.jpg images from wither the same camera or another camera display fine.

Apr 24, 2013today I had opened my photoshop file which I was coloring ( a comic page) I allready spend 3days on this comic and I just don't wanne start over .I was working on it in CS6, As friends suggested I had opened it aswell in CS5 to try if it works there but no it didn't. I also placed it in AI, but sadly again the ugly line picture shows up .

Sep 3, 2012A feature notably absent from the Oil Paint filter is any way to temporarily disable the effect (e.g., not preview it).I happen to like using Oil Paint to make refllections in the surface of water smoother and more "liquid" (which involves turning off the "Shine"), and it would really be nice if I could easily gauge the amount of the effect easily by blinking back and forth between original and processed image with a quick "disable preview" functionality.
With most standard filters, one can either uncheck a [ ] Preview box, and/or click the mouse button down on the image to temporarily show what the image is like without the effect.Yes, I know I can turn the Stylization down to 0.1 and see how a very minimal amount of the effect can be applied. And I can look at the original image in Photoshop proper, but of course that can't be zoomed while the Oil Paint filter is active.
Also, the zooming / panning seems kind of stiffly implemented.In summary, the more or less standard and expected filter features I'd like to see added to this (new class of) GPU-accelerated filters are:Preview/No Preview capability. It doesn't have to update Photoshop, just the preview display in the filter itself. I suggest a [ ] Preview checkbox and/or an on-mouse-click temporary effect disable.
Modal click and drag Zooming vs. Panning - i.e., based on a Zoom or Pan function selected (e.g., via an icon along the left) vs. having to hold modifier keys down. I personally would want it set to Zoom by default, not Pan. Since the filter has scroll bars (a Good Thing), I would have thought Zoom would have been a better default as it is. I have implemented these things in my own GPU-accelerated plug-ins, so I know that all the infrastructure Adobe needs to support them is already in there. These changes are controls only and should be trivial to implement.

I have had to re-render hours because the finial result came in much darker then the preview screen and I had to crank up my lights. I think even the quality was better in the preview screen.

Illustrator :: Colors In PDF Preview Look Different From AI File
Dec 14, 2012I am having a little trouble with the pdf I created in Illustrator. See images below for explanation. It's only happening to certain text. How can it be fixed, and how to prevent it from happening again?
I get this as thumbnail image on my desktop and in Finder, when I click space bar to quick view, and when its preview as an attachment in an email.
This is how it's supposed to look. This only happens when the PDF is actually opened..it goes from the above img to this.
Illustrator :: File Open In Preview On Mac?
Aug 2, 2012I knew there would be a few quirks. I recently upgraded my Mac OS to SL 10.6.3. When using Illustrator (CS4), saved files as .EPS, do not have the appropriate Illustrator icon on the file. When I click on them to open, instead of opening in Illustrator, the file open in "Preview".
NOTE: ".AI" files saved, do not have the correct AI icon either, but do open in Illustrator.

Jul 2, 2012I have imported thousands of photos into LR4 without a problem but today I hit a problem. I have converted a number of PDF documents into JPEGs as I wanted them to be available to view via LR. I receive the message that 'Preview is unavailable for this file' and then 'Failed to find a place for the imported file'. The JPEGs are stored on an external drive. When I try the same thing in Aperture the JPEGs load into Aperture without a problem.

Jun 26, 2012I had to uninstall X6 for a while until some other issues are fixed, but that's another story. Once I did a repair on X5 and uninstalled the shell extension and reinstalled the X5 version, then ran the SP3 update, I have file icons back in the file open dialog, but with the preview pane active, I still get "This file can't be previewed" instead of the multi-page preview it should have for newer files and the first page preview for older files. I've associated draw files with X5, and everything else works fine, except the file preview.

Jan 11, 2013In AutoCAD 2012 when the File Open Dialog Box is displayed there is a drop down option list called Views and the option at the bottom is Preview. That's the same in both the English and German versions of AutoCAD, other than in German its called Vorschau. When the option is ticked (checked) a preview is displayed, if it is not ticked then no preview is displayed.
In AutoCAD 2013 this option for Preview does not exist because the Preview is always there.
OK, how do you see this in your version of AutoCAD 2013. Who sees the preview and who not?

Lightroom :: File Info In Smart Preview?
Nov 9, 2013We have standard XMP files with metadata for our collections - box number, folder number, copyright, creator, etc. Is there a way to add this to Smart Preview so that it will apply it to all photos at the same time?
It would save so much time to be able to use Smart Preview and apply all the metadata and just tweak it for descriptions, than to upload the XMP files for each image.
Lightroom :: 4.1 - Preview Unavailable For This File On Import
Aug 2, 2012for some reason I get the message 'preview unavailable for this file' for about 50% of the photos in the import module of LR4.1. This only seems to be an issue upon import since the files still import as usual and I do not encounter any further issues after the import with developing etc. It's not a huge problem for me but still quite anoying as I am not able to review my photos before actually importing them.
Here are some further details:I am shooting with a Nikon D300s, all photos are in NEF-format, I use USB-mini USB connection between computer and camera. The problem occurs on both my Macbook Pro Retina 2012 and my iMac Mid-2010. The problem only occurs with LR4, I didn't have any problems with LR3.

GIMP :: Automatic Resizing Or Preview File Size For GIF?
Jun 30, 2012I'll come straight out and admit: yes, my real problem here is my laziness but, ignoring that, the 'problem' I have is getting so tired of and annoyed with the whole trial & error schtick that comes with saving animated gifs (scale image, save, check file size, repeat to first step until file size is finally desirable).
Two possible solutions come to mind, one I admit is probably quite unrealistic but I would think the other has a good chance of existing.
First, the unrealistic solution possibility. Is there a plugin or anything else where I can input a file size and it could calculate the exact (or close to exact) scale I would need to resize to if I want the gif to be around that file size? (i.e. "For this gif to be 879kb your best bet would (probably) be 515 x 283")
Now then, the more realistic (or at least I think it is) solution possibility. What about being able to preview a file size of an animated gif before saving? (i.e. "If you save this 400 x 226 gif it will most likely be '(insert byte size here)'kb")

Feb 12, 2013Suddenly, I am getting the above message, when trying to import RAW files in LR 4.3. I tried with two different cards and two different Readers.
When I click on Import, I get a blank thumbnail of all the photos with the message in it. I was able to see the photos in Finder on the Compact Flash card with no problem.
I have LR and camera up to date for a while, so nothing different has been done that I know of.
