I've been aligning layers in Photoshop since the first day I aligned layers in Photoshop but I still can't figure out what logic is used to determine which layer(s) moves when multiple selected layers are aligned using one of the six alignment options.

View 5 Replies View RelatedToday I noticed a slightly peculiar behavior in the Clone Stamp tool when "Aligned" is deselected. Clicking twice on the image with alt or option held down causes the behavior of the tool to change and "Aligned" to become checked. So if you're not planning on using aligned, you alt/option click your mouse for the source point, decide on a different source point, alt/option click again, and suddenly you find yourself using an aligned clone stamp.
This does not happen with the Healing Brush Tool, which makes me think it's not an intentional short cut. It's also mighty irritating. I've tried it with both x64 and x32 CS6 on Windows. Happens on both. Does it also happen on Macintosh? Is there any way to switch this behavior off?

View 6 Replies View RelatedI've just used the align layers feature to stitch together 4 pics into a panorama view. It looks great except the sky is different shades of blue for each of the stiched elements.
Is there an easy way of somehow merging the different blues so you end up with a consistent blue across the panoramic view?
I need to use the clone stamp tool with the Aligned option unticked to use the same area for cloning purposes, but the tool behaves as if this option is ticked regardless of whether it is actually ticked or not i.e., in the Aligned rather than the un-Aligned fashion, moving in relation to the clone tools movements.
Has anyone else had this issue? Was it ever a known bug? Its CS2 I'm using.
What happened to the option/enter command in the move object dialog that has been around since the early days of Illustrator??? Instead of having to mouse click the "copy" button in the move object window, one could just hold down option with Return or Enter and the Copy command would happen rather than a simple move. Immensely useful for prepress work!

I work in Animation painting Backgrounds. My files are sometimes upwards to 200+ layers.I will use adjustment layers to quickly balance colours and constrast on top of those many many layers.
The only way that I know of how to apply adjustment layers it to every single layer ( by applying I mean I need to get rid of the adjustment layers because we cant use them in production but i need the new colours be applied to all layers underneath ) in a psd is to manually do it By duplicating the adjusment layer 200+ times and then merging each layer to one of those adjustment layers so that that layer can take the adjustment layers effect permanently.
The issue is that Within Those 200 layers I have some layers set to Multiply or OVERLAY. IT obviously wont apply the adjustment layer properly to those layers because those layer blend mode affect the layers under them. The colour wont be the same anymore in the spots that had the multiply blended mode.

I have 2 adjustment layers up top. I need to get rid of them by applying them to each layer! I cannot merge any of the layers. We need all those layers for production.I can apply the adjustment layers manually and this works GREAT for all Layers set to normal. THey take on the colour change just FINE.
However, The issue is that layer 6 and layer 4 are both set to mutiply and this screws up the colour once i apply the adjustment layers to each layer manually...
How can i apply my adjustment layers to a file like this with some layers being set to multiply while keeping the layers exactly the same configuration and The new colour taking effect exactly how i looks before i apply the adjustment layers? Now the simple solution is to merge the multiply layers to the layer that it affects HOWEVER I NEED those multiply layers to be separate!
Imagine a layer containing 10 squares, each square is isolated (none are touching). I need a quick way to put each of those squares on its own layer. Is there something already built in, or any plugin or action?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm attempting to migrate from Fireworks to PS so I can access and learn more features and tools. One of the reasons I like FW is that simple things like aligning objects and layers, for example, to the center, top or bottom of the page is easy. I can't seem to achieve this very simple task in my version of PS CS5. For instance, to center a layer, I'm supposed to select another layer to reference it to? However, when I do this, the align function realigns the other layer I'm using as a reference too. I keep reading that the align tool can't affect a single layer. If this is the case, why have an alignment tool at all? It's a very confusing feature!
My question is this: can photoshop align seperate layers individually? Or should I continue to do that work, layout and design, in Fireworks and then save and import as a .psd file to finish my work in PS? (I know that PS is a great photo editing tool but I'm not sure if it is optimized for graphic design work like Fireworks is.)
Is there an option to move just a portion of a layer (with the Move, Scale, or Rotate tools, for example) without having to first copy the portion, then delete it, and then paste it as a whole new layer?
For instance, if you have a picture of a house and there's a tree off to the side, and you want to shrink the tree a bit so the house looks bigger. Currently, I would ( a ) copy the tree, ( b ) delete that selection, and ( c ) paste the tree as a new layer....and then finally (d) shrink that.
But could I simply select the tree and shrink it on the same layer?
I normally choose to "Move" images from my memory card to a hard drive folder when importing into Lightroom so that the card is then clear to use again. I cannot think of any settings I have changed Lightroom no longer gives me the option to move or add from a card. Is this an undocumented "Feature" of v3.3

Let's say I have two pictures. Each picture has a photography in the background and some text in the foreground. I now want to maximize the parts of the picture that aren't blocked by text. The two pictures don't have the same size and additionally, the aspect ratio of both photographies is slightly off. So to align both pictures (e.g. in two layers on top of each other), one of the images would need to be not only rescaled but also stretched (or clinched respectively). Is there a way to do this automatically? The operation itself would be extremely simple:
1. create two "anchor points" (with mandatory diagonal distance to each other) on both images which depict the same part of the picture each
2. run the automatic operation. It justs alignes the anchor points by re-scaling one of the images - nothing more.
My import window does not allow me to pick the "move" option. How do I access it?
View 4 Replies View RelatedThe document I am working on has two artboards (front and back of a document) and I am trying to center some text on the artboard. The issue that I am having is that when I try to align something to center on the first artboard (the left one) it moves it off that board and aligns center on the 2nd artboard (the right one).
I have about 10 other files with this same set up (two artboards, multiple text boxes) and have never had an issue with alignment. As long as "align to artboard" is selected Illustrator never moves the text box to the other artboard to align it.
I'm going to connect my AI file to After effect. So I had to create lots of layers in order to edit them seperatly in After effects. But it seems like my amount of layers are too large because AE always crashes (not responding -> Force quit)
So I wanna break some stuff down in multiple AI files, but I don't wanna go and select every layer and delete it. That would take too much time. Is there a way to select the multiple objects in Illustrator and delete that but also its layer its in?
The option to edit in Photoshop CS4 from Lightroom 4 and return is just fine. However, the option to Open images as layers in Photoshop is grayed out as well as the option to open as Smart Object or Merge.

In my previous version of Elements, I was able to duplicate a layer (which was a picture) and then drag and drop a new picture into that layer. How can I do this with Elements 12, since the drag and drop option doesn't work?

For some reason when I try to "Create Reference" to bring in my Alignment, Finished Ground and Existing Ground I get three different alignment data shortcuts instead of them grouping into one. I am trying to find out where in my workflow this all went wrong.
I have a .dwg that just has my alignment files in it. Then I make a new drawing and data shortcut in those alignments and Surface. I make my profiles and then create the data shortcuts for those. I start a New drawing and try to reference the alignment and profile and I get duplicated that aren't grouped. If you take a look at the two .bmp's you can see what happens.
The Purple highlighted area is how I want it to show up and that one worked just fine. Same work flow. The yellow is what is giving me a hard time.
Is there any way to associate multiple pipe structures to one alignment. I spend half my time re-associating structures to alignments.
