Lightroom :: Import Images Grayed Out - No Import Option
Jan 17, 2011I'm trying to import photos into LR3.3, and the thumbnails are grayed out, as is the import button. The photos come from two other cameras -- one Canon Elf, the other I'm not sure. I received them through dropbox, and they open fine with Bridge and Photoshop CS4.

Mar 23, 2011I normally choose to "Move" images from my memory card to a hard drive folder when importing into Lightroom so that the card is then clear to use again. I cannot think of any settings I have changed Lightroom no longer gives me the option to move or add from a card. Is this an undocumented "Feature" of v3.3

Jan 23, 2014If I shoot RAW + JPEG, and I add EXIF data to the JPEG files outside of Lightroom, when I import the RAW + JPEG pairs will the metadata I added to the JPEG files still be there?
I'd try it myself, but I don't actually have the equipment to do this right now.

Nov 18, 2013I like that Autodesk now allows us to just pick a command's option from the command line instead of typing a letter in the option. For example, when drawing a rectangle we're prompted to "Specify first corner point or [Chamfer Elecation Fillet Thickness Width]" and if we wanted to draw fillets on the rectangle we can simply PICK that option from the prompt in the command line OR enter an "F" and return.
Is there a way we can use this functionality in our custom programs?

Nov 1, 2012I am ready to print my stuff. But I have to manually use the pick tool in the print preview window to move my pages around so that they will print the stuff in the center of the pages.
I do my print run. And then save the "Print style".
Come back the next day and I have to re-do all the adjusting of the work again so that it all gets printed. I would have thought that saving a print style would make it so that next time everything is the same as before.

Dec 24, 2012What happened to the option/enter command in the move object dialog that has been around since the early days of Illustrator??? Instead of having to mouse click the "copy" button in the move object window, one could just hold down option with Return or Enter and the Copy command would happen rather than a simple move. Immensely useful for prepress work!

May 27, 2012Is there a way to disable lightroom 4 from importing or processing any file with a video extension mkv, 3gpp etc, as its really slowing down my workflow.
My typically workflow consists of pulling my files off of my memory carsd manually via explorer (into a specific folder under a root folder which I create manually). I then synchronise the root folder in lightroom.
Unfortunately LR4 seems to take over and hour to do this since I have a lot of uncateloged videos. LR fails each time to catalog the videos.
LR3, since it didn't support video, was blazingly fast and performing the same operations in LR3 takes minutes as oppose to hours.

Dec 5, 2013LR 5.2 was working beautifully, but after shooting a couple videos (.MOV) in addition to normal images (.JPG & .CR2) my LR 5.2 started playing up when I wanted to import the content of my SD card onto my PC.
LR 5.2 (on Win7, 64-bit) stopped displaying ANY images or movies in the import window. It doesn't matter whether the images (+/- movies) are on the SD card (from which I usually directly import), or any folder on my PC that contains images. LR 5.2 however has no problem displaying the images on my PC in the library window (as they have been imported into the catalog before the problem occurred).
I'm now stuck with hundreds of photos on my SD card that I can't seem to be able to import...

Dec 31, 2013I sometimes get full size previews in the import window (when I double click on a picture in the grid), but usually they are tiny and get extremely pixelated when I try to make them bigger. This makes it very difficult to decide if a picture is good enough to import.

When selecting "Import", a new window opens which is a "Copy as DNG" which, during reading all tutorials, is never mentioned. I would like to just import directly from the source card to Macintosh HD. Also, "NO PHOTOS" shows as well.

Lightroom :: 4 Constantly Crashing When Display Import Results Window
Apr 8, 2012I'm trying to synchronize my folders, and LR4 is consistently crashing when it attempts to display the "Import Results" window. This is on Win7 Pro, using LR4 64-bit. A portion of the pix being imported are successfully stored in the catalog, and the remainder are not. When I restart LR and attempt to synchronize again, the process repeats: find the new pictures (the ones that weren't stored in the previous attempt), start importing them, reach apparent 100%, start to display "Import Results" window and immediately crash.
I'd like to reach the point at which no pix remain to be imported.

Aug 20, 2005I've just upgraded from Photoshop7 to CS2 and have noticed that the 'link' option have been removed from the 'Layer Window' (the little box which was next to the 'eye' that you could check to select certain layers and then manipulate those particular layers together like free transform, flatten etc.)
I normally use this feature alot and cannot find another way of doing it, is it possible to reinstate this feature or does anyone know a way of still doing this within CS2?

Apr 26, 2012I use the Map function within Civil 3D 2012 to export municipal GIS data from shp files, for our base plans. One of the clean-up functions is to convert the text exported from GIS to an appropriate text style suitable for the project. To do this, I would select the text, use the select similar command, then update the text style in the properties window. This process has worked well when using Civil 3D 2010 and 2011, however, I have noticed in 2012 the "style" option is not available.
Not sure what I mean, have a look at the two attachments. Notice in the C3D 2012 image, there is no "style" option, while the C3D 2010 image includes the 'style" option. I submitted this bug to our reseller, who was able to replicate this error. Our reseller submitted this to Autodesk, who was also able to replicate this error. What is interesting is if I open the drawing that contains the map exported data from C3D 2012 in either 2010 or 2011 versions, the "style" option is available, just not in 2012. This leads me to believe the issue is not with the data or the export functionality of 2012, the issue is with 2012 displaying the data property. Autodesk has forwarded this issue to their developers, no indication of when or if it will be resolved for Civil 3D 2012.
My workaround for now is to use Civil 3D 2010 for the drawing cleanup functions. Fortunately I am able to have previous versions of Civil 3D installed, since I am on subscription. My advice is when upgrading, do not remove your previous versions if you are on subscription, you may need to use it one day.
Photoshop :: Toggling Zoom Tool's Resize Window Option
Jan 24, 2006Using the zoom tool, there is a check box to select whether a zoom will also "Resize window to fit." Is there a way, using the _keyboard_, to select or toggle whether I want the window to resize when I use the zoom tool? I often want to go back and forth between asking for the resize and prohibiting it, but I don't want to have to go up with the mouse to click on that little check box all the time.

Dec 16, 2011Is there an option to move just a portion of a layer (with the Move, Scale, or Rotate tools, for example) without having to first copy the portion, then delete it, and then paste it as a whole new layer?
For instance, if you have a picture of a house and there's a tree off to the side, and you want to shrink the tree a bit so the house looks bigger. Currently, I would ( a ) copy the tree, ( b ) delete that selection, and ( c ) paste the tree as a new layer....and then finally (d) shrink that.
But could I simply select the tree and shrink it on the same layer?
