As I've been adding photos to my catalog from my iMac's internal hard drive, I've asked LR 5 to import them while "MOVING" them. Not "Copy as DNG", but MOVE. The Move feature simply makes a copy of them and leaves the files still on my hard drive. Why? This didn't happen in earlier LR editions.
View 4 RepliesI'm installing my lightroom again on my new PC, Lr 1, upgrade LR2, upgrade LR 3, but after installation only the LR 1 is working fine, the other two upgrades won't import pictures/files and won't show them in the program, only the picture setting like 1/2000 F8.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm using LR4 with a Canon camera setup (Wind 7 Ultimate). I've got the auto import setting all configured with an incoming folder and destination. The app recognizes when an image is put in incoming folder and in fact it moves it to the destination folder. What is really annoying is that it leaves me at the import settings dialog and then I have to make all these choices as I would if I were manually importing.
Shouldn't the images be places in the desination folder and some view of that image be displayed in LR? It could be the folder view or ideally I want to see the last image imported at 1:1 size so I can review it and see if I want to take another shot? Maybe there is some flag I've got set incorrectly.
In the map module, I put a selection of pictures on a location, but I didn't find the way to drag the group to adjust the location.
This can be done with an individual picture : see screen cap below.
But it cannot be done with a group.
I tried several usual modifier key (alt, shift...) but all I can do with a group is navigating through the map.
Plus when the thumbnails of the groupe are displayed, one cannot cycle back from the first picture to the last one. See screen cap below :
I would like to ask you some more questions.
1.When I am in the Library Mode, and on the left side, how do I move pictures from one folder to another, and how do I rename a folder?
2. How do I rename a picture?
I am watching the Adobe T.V.she doesn't pause so I can ask a question. LOL LR is harder to learn than I thought it would be but I'll get there!
I need to create space on my laptop hard drive. How do I move my pictures to an external harddrive? Terrified I will losse them or get the dreaded ...?

I need to move a bunch of pictures located in different sub-folders on Drive C: to my new 2Tb Drive D:
I try to move it in LR via the import function with MOVE. But, they are all greyed out (not selectable) and when I try to move 1-by-1 by right-clicking on a picture, a message is displayed telling me that the picture is already in the catalogue. I know it is already in the catalogue. All I need to do is to move it to another HDD.
How would you do this? I have just thought of deleting all files in the catalogue and import them then, but it just does not feel right.

What I was hoping is that Adobe LR was going to copy all those pictures and put them into "my pictures- > year -> date" so that I will have all my pictures organized by date. [ t)
However, adobe LR have just added all those pictures using their original location (i.e. the folders where i had them), and therefore the automatic organization by dates that i was expecting didn't happen.
I would like to move all the pictures to the "date system".
In LR, my photos are stored in folders named by date. Ex : 20120913
Sometimes, I run over photos that are not where they belong. Ex : a picture from 2010-01-01 misplaced in the 20110720 folder.
I am sure there are quite a few misplaced pictures in my catalog.
Is there any easy way to find them and move them where they belong ?
Lightroom 4 Trial (in Windows 7) doesn't transport/open pictures in Photoshop CS5.

When creating a catalog for travel with dynamic image rendering, if you want to add some pictures in this catalog it doesn't recognize the existing images, so we have the exact same selection between "all images' and "new images". I made a few tests and with a normal catalog there is no problems but apparently the dynamic images are not recognized as existing images.

Since I'm using a Mac Computer and and iPad, I'd like to continue to USe iPhoto to share my pictures with the TV and other Apple products. Unfortunately I couldn't figure out a nice workflow - means how to import pictures in raw, work with them in Lightroom and than finally export as jpg and ideally import automatically into iPhoto. View 6 Replies View RelatedLightroom 3.6 has developed a strange problem ever since I tried to import seven pictures (canon RAW) directly from a CF card (rather than using Windows and then synchronising folders which is what I usually do). use of a CF card may be a red herring. Also, I’m using Windows 7 SP1.
To cut a long story short, if, in Lightroom Library, I now select “My pictures” (the top level folder) I can see all the folders and pictures that have previously been correctly catalogued and synced in Lightroom. I right click and select “Synchronize folder”. I would expect nothing to happen, because all folders have been synced, BUT, after a delay I get “Import new photos (644)”. There are no photos to import, and therefore, if I then let Lightroom try to import them, I get the error message “No photos were found to import”.
Every time I want to synchronise, I get the same problem.
I tried using a backup LRcat file. In this case the same thing happens, but it wants to import over 700 pictures. This would be partly correct as they will be about 100 genuine pictures to import due to the LRcat file genuinely missing some of my more recent photos.
Also, if I add a new folder and picture files in Windows and then open Lightroom to synchronise, it will want to import the 644 plus the correct number of new photos in the new folder. It then imports the genuine pictures. If I then try to resynchronise, I’m back to the 644 false ones.
This tells me that Lightroom has decided it needs to import 644 false pictures, plus any new genuine ones.
How can I get rid of the 644?
I have import pictures before in lightroom 4 and now it says I cannot import the pictures these are cr.s files and jpgs

This is the second time this happens, the first time I just gave up and imported as .JPG. I've tried importing them from the camera, and from a flashdrive. Neither worked.
