Photoshop :: How To Make Pixel Image Only Using Palete Of 6 Colours
Feb 12, 2009
I have a number of photo images which I need to convert to 6 specific colours and pixelate the image and then sit on a grid (like if you were to make an image using a Rubicks cube to define colour and the grided system).
How would I do this? The grid needs to be 450 x 450 grid cubes (not pixels as I need to show the grid also). Like I say imagine you are using the rubiks cubes to make an image.

I managed to remove the background, of an image,(A whit background) and put the image on top of a transparent layer. made a transparent image. When I place this image over a light color background, it looks fine, but when I place it over a dark color background, the edge of the image looks very rough and dirty, I think it's because some of the anti alias from the original image, how can I make it a clean image without going to delete pixel by pixel?

How do I make text with 2 colours?
©gosonyushidae@SSF
Like something similar to this?
The way I know how to do it is by typing the first word in black lets say, then open a new text dialogue on another layer and type in the other word with a different colour.
Is there an easier way to do this since I'm afraid that my text won't be in line with each other?

I have taken this image under poor lighting in a restaurant, and need to know how to best retore the colours in this lifeless image.
Yes, I know it ain't the greatest image - all I am hoping to do is remove the colour cast and get some of the natural colors in there.
I've tried tweaking it through "Selective colour", but this only seems to get me so far.

If I use a pencil, I can draw one pixel at a time. However, if I switch to the Dodge or Burn tools, even selecting 1 pixel width, it still is soft. One click effects 8 pixels. How can I truly harden the tool to only darken 1 pixel at a time?

Today for the first time I have encountered something strange when pulling a PSD file through from CS2 into imageready. The colours in the image seem 'washed out' and faded as per the file attached. I have also attached a file how it should look. I have obviously done something inadvertently to make it go wrong but I can't for the life of me work out what .

Say you have a flattened image, a solid background and text of a differrent colour.
If you wanted to change the colour of the text is there some trick to simultaneously changing the pixels around the letters with slightly different hues (because of the antialiasing) into a relative colour?
i have attached a gif image of a letter zoomed in to give an example.
If you wanted to alter that text to say red could you do it?

I have a 1024x768 canvas and I want to draw two 1 pixel columns, one starting in column 0 and one in column 1023 (basically two tall white strips on the far left and far right)
How can I make this as a png which is transparent in the middle. I need to put this on top of another image and cover the left and right edges.

When I set my pencil brush tool to 1px, to make some pixel art, it is not 1 pixel, it adds an extra pixel to the left. I dont know why this happens, but im the height IS 1 pixel, but the width adds an extra pixel to the left or right (mainly left). even when i position it ExACTLY in the center of the grid, which is set to 1px by 1px, it STILL adds an extra pixel

I flatten an Image, All the colors change to grayscale. Like if you look at the color chart, you see all the normal colors, but if you try to use a color it just comes out different shades of gray. Its horrible, and it happens everytime.

Alright, so I want to make pixel art for a facebook cover, and I want to make the pixels large.
Question: How do I take the resolution down and keep the print size the same? I want to just be able to click and have a large pixel form.

I've just used image trace to get a three colour vector of a photograph. I want to replace the three colours in the image with colours from my brand's style guide. At the moment, they're thre shades of a kind of muddy brown.
How I do this? The three colours in the image aren't showing in the swatch menu and I don't really know what I'm doing.

For a project, I've imported a jpeg file that I made on Photoshop. The colors look perfectly fine on the RAM previews and stuff but after I render it, just that specific jpg image comes washed out. It should be dark grey / almost black but after rendering into .mov that image becomes medium grey. It's noticeably more washed out and lighter. All the other colors in that image are also noticeably lighter as well.
I have set my working space to my monitors color profile and I have proofed the colors after saving on Photoshop.

I've been using GIMP for a while for basic website stuff. Very basic website stuff. I've recently been asked if GIMP has some more advanced features. Well, advanced put to my usual level of use anyway.
So, I thought I'd query if I could do the following in GIMP...
(1) Edit a BMP but ensure the file size remains the same?
The person asking is using the images for a specific purpose and they always have to be the same size.
(2) Open .pspimages and possibly save back as this format.
The answer to this seems to be no on the opening front anyway.
(3) Restrict the image to a very limited range of colours, say 3-6?
Again this is due to the very specific and restricted nature of the images they are creating.

I'm using a Canon 40D, Photoshop 6 and a Mac Mini running OSX 10.8.4.
I'm loading a RAW image from my Camera into Photoshop in 16 bit mode. As I understand it, my Canon 40D has a 12-bit A/D and RAW images have a 12 bit depth out of the camera. Loading them in 8-bit depth would lose some dynamic range/resolution, so I choose to load them in 16 bit mode.
Once the RAW image is in Photoshop in 16 bits, I scroll over parts of the image with the color picker to see the pixel values. This is where I lose understanding of what's going on. The color picker shows pure white values as 32768 and pure black values as zero. Apparently Photoshop (or Camera Raw) is shifting the 12-bit camera data up to fill the top 16 bits in Photoshop. But this is not entirely true! If it truly shifted all 12 camera bits into the 12 MSBs of the 16 bit Photoshop value, wouldn't the max white value be 65535?? If the 12 bits were shifted into the 15th bit, wouldn't the max value be 32767?? Where does 32768 come from? Also, what is Photoshop putting into the LSBs after it does the shifting?
I'm trying to do some averaging of lots of low light exposures using Linear Dodge in 16 bit mode. If photoshop indeed shifts the 12-bit camera values to the MSB of the 16 bit word, I'll eventually run into clipping when I sum my images. I'd have to go to 32-bit mode and that really slows down my system, almost to the point of uselessness.
What's going on in 16-bit mode?

When I command + click a layer or mask to select the contents therein I get the 'marching ants'. After flattening + copying the selection + creating a new document with preset sizes + and pasting the selection onto the new image I get a 1 pixel border around 1 edge of the image.
I can tell I have extra space because when I change the default bkg of the 'Background' layer to black I can see the black on one side...
First image shows my selection...
Second image shows a zoom of the selection... aka: it has no extra space
Third image shows the blk background behind the copy / pasted image to show the extra space that somehow got added...
