This problem just developed. When I use the crop tool either by double clicking or using the tool bar the image immediately shrinks to one pixel. P.S.CS3 running on OSX10.5.8
View 2 RepliesAfter cropping a photo in cs4 i have tried hitting the return key as well as edit/crop and then my photo disappears and the image box reduces in size to about 1 inch square with no image. I have expanded the image box but nil photo. This has never happened before.
I reloaded cs4 onto my computer but the problem still exists. I have also tried out opening the file from Bridge as well as Photoshop with the same result.
we were working on some planning stuff, altogether more than 100ha in area. in Cad2006, I assembled 6 pieces of colored plans (jpg), each above 10 MB. I did this because scaling and aligning files this size in Photoshop is a real pain and inaccurate.. anyway, when I printed them to pdf (I did select for maximum quality in printing dialog), the lines in the image was a bit fuzzy when viewed for original size. the original ones are sharp as hell on the same scale. and I made sure I DID NOT print larger than the original. luckily the quality loss was not obvious for final use on the A1 poster. still, I wonder if anything can be done to output losslessly.

I managed to remove the background, of an image,(A whit background) and put the image on top of a transparent layer. made a transparent image. When I place this image over a light color background, it looks fine, but when I place it over a dark color background, the edge of the image looks very rough and dirty, I think it's because some of the anti alias from the original image, how can I make it a clean image without going to delete pixel by pixel?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm in PSE 10 and when I crop a small portion of an image and accept the crop, it remains a small image instead of snapping to a larger image like it did in PSE 6. I know there must be some way to have the small image automatically made larger rather than having to click on the magnifier and "+" and then on the image until it is a size I can work on. I've checked the FAQs and Photoshop Elements 10 but can't find the answer.

I found a guide via google which told me how to do that but this guide is for PS not PSE and in PSE we not have layer matting (or at least i din't found it) so my question is, is there a way to delete this "borders" from my image with PSE easy way? Or i have to delete them manually ?

View 1 Replies View RelatedI open a jpg file in gimp and use the crop tool. I see the cropped part highlighted and the part to be discarded as a surrounding shaded area. I am happy with the cropped part and open a file-save-as dialog through the file menu. I type in the file name and think I am done. But when I open the saved file, it looks the same as the uncropped file that I started with in the first place. What am I failing to do to make the gimp save my change? I guess the answer is that I didn't really make a change but only thought I did. So how do I actually change to the cropped image?

I have been using paint.net for a couple of years to resize photos for work purposes with no problems. All of a sudden two days ago the photos I resized or cropped started saving as oil paintings. I didn't click on the oil painting effect and I haven't changed anything that I am aware of. I've been going through everything I can think of and even uninstalled and reinstalled the program trying to get rid of this weird default change. I can't figure out how to change it back to normal.

I am trying to send my images at 300 dpi to a photo lab to produce 4x6 prints with a border at the bottom that is 10% of the short side, and the other 3 borders are 2% of the short side. I then add text for a size 25 pixel font. I am happy with this look when I export to the file folder on the desktop. When I upload to the photo lab, their software wants to resize my prints; where I loose my border or part of the image or the larger border with the words cut-off. I know I have to do something with the canvas, but I don’t understand what to do to get a fixed image size for a 4x6 print with borders and text. I need to know what the numbers are to imput in the Mogrify "background canvas" and how many KB to "compress to file size".
I have the "image sizing" at 6" longest edge, 300 dpi for resolution
I have the canvas at 1280 x 1920
The compression size at 300kb
With this I am losing the top border and the other borders now look wierd.
Using Photoshop Elements 10, my photo reduces in size about 1/2 inch when moved onto a piece of paper. What am I doing wrong?
View 1 Replies View RelatedI'm new to this, but have noticed that whenever I choose the "save as" command for an open photo file, the saved file is much smaller. Even when, for example, I name a picture and make no other changes, the file size goes from say 2.4MB to 640 or so. And these are jpeg to jpeg saves. I have to think this diminishes resolution and options for future edits. Is there a way change some save settings or something?

View 3 Replies View RelatedI've seen a strange behaviour when it opens a new batch of DNG RAW files from my Pentax K-R; it seems to automatically take a stop or two of exposure out of all of the photos, regardless of whether or not they were under/overexposed. I can watch it going through them one by one and reducing the exposure of each photo in that batch. So far I don't think that it's lost any information (crushed the blacks beyond repair) but it's annoying that now I have to go back and bring all the photos back up a stop of two to return them to a correct exposure. The same behaviour is not present when I open the DNG files in the Pentax photo editor (Silky-Pix).
Is there some sort of auto-behaviour that is doing this? I've looked through all the options / preferences that I can find and haven't come across anything that seems to be related. Asside from this I've been very happy with X4 and I think it's a great value for what it does, but I'm holding off on editing my latest batch of pics until I figure this out.

View 5 Replies View RelatedI'm using a Canon 40D, Photoshop 6 and a Mac Mini running OSX 10.8.4.
I'm loading a RAW image from my Camera into Photoshop in 16 bit mode. As I understand it, my Canon 40D has a 12-bit A/D and RAW images have a 12 bit depth out of the camera. Loading them in 8-bit depth would lose some dynamic range/resolution, so I choose to load them in 16 bit mode.
Once the RAW image is in Photoshop in 16 bits, I scroll over parts of the image with the color picker to see the pixel values. This is where I lose understanding of what's going on. The color picker shows pure white values as 32768 and pure black values as zero. Apparently Photoshop (or Camera Raw) is shifting the 12-bit camera data up to fill the top 16 bits in Photoshop. But this is not entirely true! If it truly shifted all 12 camera bits into the 12 MSBs of the 16 bit Photoshop value, wouldn't the max white value be 65535?? If the 12 bits were shifted into the 15th bit, wouldn't the max value be 32767?? Where does 32768 come from? Also, what is Photoshop putting into the LSBs after it does the shifting?
I'm trying to do some averaging of lots of low light exposures using Linear Dodge in 16 bit mode. If photoshop indeed shifts the 12-bit camera values to the MSB of the 16 bit word, I'll eventually run into clipping when I sum my images. I'd have to go to 32-bit mode and that really slows down my system, almost to the point of uselessness.
What's going on in 16-bit mode?
When I command + click a layer or mask to select the contents therein I get the 'marching ants'. After flattening + copying the selection + creating a new document with preset sizes + and pasting the selection onto the new image I get a 1 pixel border around 1 edge of the image.
I can tell I have extra space because when I change the default bkg of the 'Background' layer to black I can see the black on one side...
First image shows my selection...
Second image shows a zoom of the selection... aka: it has no extra space
Third image shows the blk background behind the copy / pasted image to show the extra space that somehow got added...

View 2 Replies View RelatedI have a number of photo images which I need to convert to 6 specific colours and pixelate the image and then sit on a grid (like if you were to make an image using a Rubicks cube to define colour and the grided system).
How would I do this? The grid needs to be 450 x 450 grid cubes (not pixels as I need to show the grid also). Like I say imagine you are using the rubiks cubes to make an image.
When I crop a picture Pixel Demensions become 6 bytes Width and Height 1 pixel each. I can no longer see the picture. How can I fix this?
View 4 Replies View RelatedIf I place a dimension and have text above and below the dimension line (using X), and then grip edit the dimension text to move it for space/clarity on plans, the text above and below the line will mysteriously move closer to the line. If I have backgrounds applied to the text, which I normally do, the backgrounds will cover the line. Even without the background, it looks odd next to other dimensions that were not grip edited.

i get a 1 pixel size image when I double click the zoom for 100%.Fit screen or full screen is wacky too, not fitting or filling and sometimes going way beyond.
