Apr 3, 2014I have hundreds of diagrams in Microsoft word that need importing to Indesign. I have imported the illustration part of the diagrams via Illustrator but i now need to bring in the diagrams' text labelling.

The diagrams have a lot of text labels which each appear in their own text box, but if I save the .doc as an rtf and import it into InDesign, it imports all my individual textboxes into 1 large textbox which I can't seem to separate them from.

If I select one of my labels in Indesign and copy and paste it, it is now a separate text box - great, but InDesign won't let me select multiple text boxes within it's large text box and it just is not feasible for me to be selecting each box individually to cut and paste it.

Edit: Each individual text box (within the large textbox they have been imported into) appears to have been anchored on import. If I release the anchor this does what I need in the same way as cutting and pasting, but again, indesign won't let me select more than one and it would take far too long to select each box individually to release it. So I guess I'm either asking for a different import methos, or a way to select multiple textboxes that have been imported into a single text box.
Photoshop Elements :: Sketch Filters Don't Include Comic Or Graphic Novel Options
Aug 24, 2013I bought PSE 11 for Mac a few months ago, and have finally been able to spend some time examining the features. However, I noticed that my "Sketch" filters do not include the comic or graphic novel options. Were these two omitted from the Mac-version? Or do I have a faulty copy of the program?

Dec 20, 2013Is there any way to have more than one text placement inside of a single layer, but be able to maintain and move each of those separately from the others?  From what I have seen, each new Text item gets its own new layer.  If I want to document an image with seven points of reference, it's absolutely crazy that I have to maintain seven layers, each with an integer 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, or 7.  What would be much more maintainable is to create ONE layer and name it "MAP-NUMBERS" and then have seven integers placed into that one layer.  I would then want to be able to move - say - "2" around separately from "4".  Then making all of the numbers appear or disappear becomes as easy as hiding or showing one layer.

Aug 15, 2013I've been using Photoshop 7 for years and have some .png graphic elements with clear backgrounds, which I use to make cover photos for a Facebook page. When I open these graphic files with paint.net I expect to see two layers - one for the clear background and one for the graphic itself, but instead I see just one layer. If I then open a photo and try to paste the graphic overlay on top of it the clear background doesn't work, the checkerboard pattern is displayed instead.

is there a simple way to make these files work as they used to in Photoshop, i.e without going to the trouble of masking things off and clearing backgrounds all over again? Can they be opened in paint.net with the see-through background fully functional from the off?

Feb 8, 2012I've created a small group of concrete reinforcing detail components that have graphic overrides to change solid black to solid grey. When I copy the objects or place new groups made from the objects, the graphic overrides reset to original all black.

Jun 26, 2012What's the best way to pre-build graphic elements and save them to be used in a composite? This is what I've done so far: used a color generator on the timeline then added the wipe effect. Within the wipe effect I created as series of shapes (which turned out to be animated which I didn't want). What I want to to do is use just 1 still frame of this graphic with its matte in a composite but I'm not sure how to get that into my connect fx or action. I tried saving that wipe effect but once in connect fx I can't access the wipes. Can I save the wipe effect as a gmask?

Sep 18, 2013I'm working on a collaborative process that involves taking a .dxf from autocad and editing it graphically in illustrator. The .dxf file needs to be updated periodically and we have a system where we update the .dxf, open it in illustrator (CS6) and then copy/paste the updated elements into the graphic document in progress. When pasted, the new paths sometimes retain attributes (like stroke color) from the .dxf file, beneath the graphic style attributes of the layer the new work was pasted into.

May 28, 2012In a layout for an ebook I have some important black and white bitmap illustrations in tiff., 300 dpi. These have appeared ok on print, but on screen, reading the same pdf-file, they're unacceptable, especially some texts in fontsize 5-6 pt are unclear. I have to convert the drawings, or at least the texts, to vector graphics. Can I open these tiff.s in Photoshop, change only the texts to vector graphics and then save in a format, that can be inserted in the Word2010 layout?

Dec 17, 2013I think I may have made a big error. While adding text and applying (experimenting) various "Effects" with the text, I used the garbage can icon to remove the "Effect", thinking it is going to remove the 'Effect" from the text, until I realized I had to remove the "Effect" with the edit button, not the garbage can. Have I now permanently removed the various "Effects" permanently or just off the screen? How do I regain them back onto the menu column? How many "Effects" should be visible in order to have the complete set? This was my first experiment with the lettering effects and hope I haven't lost them forever.Â

Aug 18, 2009I am new to CS4, and not too familiar with Photoshop or After Effects, and I was wondering how would be best to do this: 1 - I need to mask the label on the cover of the Blush jar, where it says "MICA BELLA cosmetices" and replace it with another name. The photo moves from left to right in the video so whatever change I make has to move with it. In fact there are a few photos in which I need to do the same, and the jars are at different locations and angles. 2 - Also, at the botton of the pic, below the white line I need to put another word to cover "MICA BELLA" and I'm wondering how best to copy the color scheme across the lettering. I do not know how the original was created.
