Photoshop Elements :: Save Merged Layers As JPG In 12?
Oct 19, 2013
I am unable to save a completed project as a jpg file even after carefully merging the layers. The only way I can do that appears to be to use Save for Web - and I do not want to compress the images as web images. Also, in Elements 9 I could open a PSE file in layers and continue to edit - in 12 I cannot do that. I'm really very discouraged and wish I had my Elements 9 back.
I exported a project as a pdf by clicking Save As under the file menu, then I saved the original psd by choosing Save As again and selecting PSD this time. When I came back to the project today all the layers had been merged into one. I _never_ merged them myself. Is there any way I can recover all that work or have I been hosed by this "feature"?
I downloaded CS6 for the MAC and have been using it fine, come to use Photoshop 6 on my PC upstairs and a PDF which has been saved now opens on the PC but as one layer not the 20 layers that it is built up from.
I like to keep my layers carefully named. I often create new layers over existing ones to build up effects and paint in details. When I merge these layers, Photoshop always assigns the new merged composite layer the name of whatever the topmost layer was. I would much prefer it to default to naming the new layer whatever the bottom layer was called. I'm using CS5.5.
I might start with my assets in a file, with layer names like: Model, Field, Product, Logo, etc... Then add effects on layers called, Shading, Highlight, Package Detail, Lettering, etc... over each original layer. When merged, instead of being named the more-appropriate names, it will of course use the top layer names and I end up with my layers called "Shading, Highlight, Package Detail, Lettering. It's made much worse when I duplicate effects to modify and apply to multiple layers, then merge, leaving me with a file with layer names "Highlight, Highlight Copy 1, Highlight Copy 2, etc..." Renaming to my original layer names is very tedious as a result.
way of making a merged copy of a number of layers?
I know the Alt/Ctrl/Shft/E shortcut, but this requires turning evertything off except the layers to be merged. In a large doc with some layers already turned off, turning everything on and off quickly is not always straight forward.
When I select photos to merge, either via Bridge or within CS5 (Automate/Merge to HDR Pro), the Merged image appears over the CS5 screen. However, the bottom of the HDR screen with the photos selected for the merge along with the Cancel & Save buttons are cut off. The only way for me to exit HDR is to force quit.
My monitor resolution is 1440X900 which is better than the 1024x768 required for CS5.
I've recently reopened a piece of art in illustrator but the layers are now merged. Is there a way to separate the layers to the way they were or do I have to start all over?
I download an image of the net of a dog with a .png transparent background. open in paint it's showing the transparency which is great, now say i make another image (not a layer) of 400px, by 400px, and fill it white, I'm so used to in photoshop just dragging transparency masks/layers from one image directly into a new image,
I've tried everything in paint.net even tried making a new layer, filling that white, bringing the transparency image to the front. so the white layer is behind the transparency one, then copy/cut to the new image with a filled in "white" background.
but all that copies across is the transparency layer, unlike Photoshop there's no copy merged, move merged option. so how do you get to cut/move a bunch of layers as 1 into a new image either by drag and drop, or cut and paste?
I've been fiddling with settings and layer orders for a while now, but I still get issues!
Everytime I export a PSD from my Illustrator CS5 file, it wants to merge the last few layers together! If you look at the pics, there is nothing special, or different about the layers that get merged (the last 3 in the layer order on the pics). I've tried even putting a blank layer in between to see if it would just merge that, but then it'll merge the last 3 layers, along with any blank spacers I've put in!
In Photoshop, there is a shortcut that does the following:
Ctrl + Alt + Shift + E — You’ll get a new layer at the top of the layer stack containing a merged representation of all visible layers (handy for sharpening adjustments, etc.).
I tried this in PSP X3 and it doesn't work. Does it even possible to do this in PSP? I know how to merge all the layers in PSP but all the merged layers then disappear. The Photoshop feature keeps all the visible layers and merges them into a combined merged visible layer.
how to delete layers/items from the 3D layers panel? Specifically, 3D layers that have been merged. I merged few 3D layers and need to remove some unwanted items that are left behind.
It would seem like a simple task but I've ended up with one 3D layer in my layers palet and a list of layers in my 3D palet that are all locked. Is this normal? Attached is a screenshot of both layers palets and my doc mode, just in case.
After months of saving GIFs just fine, Elements 11 has stopped working properly. I've tried uninstalling, resetting preferences, and reducing the file size, but when trying to save a GIF, all I get is a frozen screen that says "Export: Save for Web and Devices". The screen looks like it's trying to save, but never does. I've made much larger GIFs with no trouble at all, but I can't even make one with 5 frames now.
I used to make a really neat strip of merged images using PSE 4 and its photomerge feature. How can I make a merged group of photos blended and being aligned side by side horizontally like PSE 4 used to do? Using PSE 10?
All of my image layers have randomly converted to smart object layers and I can no longer resize them in the ps document. Why would it do this and how can I undo it?
How do I create layers in an adjustment layer and transfer or duplicate those layers in another image ?
I need to transfer the same colour readjustment from one image to several other images ... I have been told to do this in the adjustment layer platform how ever I cannot drag or copy those layers over to the other images I have open and in need of adjustment to the same layers ...
Images shows my layout and what i've done this far
URL....I am using PSE 12 as a photo editor for Aperture 3.5.1 and the photo is duplicated (as a tiff) in Aperture and PSE editor opens with the image. When I close the file and say to save the file it brings up the save as window.
I tell PSE 12 to "on first save -- save over current file" it now brings up the "save as" window and won't save over the file (changes the file type from .tiff to .tif)
I have Photoshop CS6 and Elements Premiere 11 and both were showing estimated file sizes properly up until a couple of weeks ago, and both stopped at the same time. Using Image, Mode I have verified on both that the images I am trying to save are 8 bit and not 16 bit images. I am on Window 7, 64bit.
and the same for each base layer + each variation layer. What is the most efficient way to do that in Photoshop CS5? (And I need to repeat this task for the rest of my 200 .psd images!)
All of a sudden when I save a psd there are no layers when I returned thist AM on any of the saves I made yesterday. They appear to be all merged layer saved as a psd. I have also been having a problem that when I try to save as - say a jpeg the above option such as iff (which is above jpg on the list) will come up instead, so I have to type in the jpg command. This anamoly starts on BMP.
I touched up photos using layers. I went to save and it would only let me save as a PSD. The PSD format does not work for my application. How can I save it as a JPEG. The picture is going to be used on a Multiple listing Service. The photo will open in PS. Not even Finder on my Mac will open it.
I'm using Photoshop CS5 for Mac, and when I try to save files as TGA or GIF, the Layers option is not available and the result is a flattened, single layer.
• Files I am working with are 8bit RGB. • Photoshop is set to 32bit, not 64bit. • There are no extra channels other than RGB. • Switching files to indexed color doesn't work because it asks to merge all layers. • I can open Gif files containing layers, but I can't then Save or Save As with layers.
Below is the save dialog box as it appears when i try to save a Gif or TGA.
how to make an action that can export individual layers within a PS document and rename each layers in the process.
I have set up a 320 x 180px canvas and have 'Placed' in about 20 images that all need to be exported with the Save for Web option.
Problem is, when I set the action to Save for Web and choose the destination, Photoshop names my newly exported image as the document's title (for example, 320x180_Canvas.jpg). But as soon as I try to make it move on to the next layer, it will automatically replace the first exported image with the new one, renaming it the same way, and so on and so on for the next 2 layers...
So essentially, I can only export one layer at a time - unless I make an action to Save for Web for individual documents and not layers (so instead of having one document with 20 layers, I have 20 documents with one layer)...
I'm working on a tutorial for doing a website mockup in Adobe PS. In one of the steps, it says:"With the header area selected with a mask press CMD+SHIFT+C to Copy Merged, then paste on a new layer."
This doesn't make sense to me because I don't know what reason there would be to add a mask to the header layer. And even when I try it doing what they say, it doesn't do anything. Here's a link to the tutorial: URL]....
