I’m using Photoshop Elements 12 on OSX 10.9.1. When using several layers with pics on it, the pics break apart when i move them around on the layer… I get a mosaic of ’broken’ pics. It looks like a memory problem but it isn’t.
View 1 Repliesi have multiple gang scans, some of them containing 15 images or more. they are scanned at 400dpi and are extremely large files i want to break the component images into their own unique files and save them as tiffs in exactly the same format that they are in now. i want to make sure i dont compress them or change the info in any way except for file size.
View 1 Replies View Relatedi've got a strange problem: when zooming images in the GIMP (2.8.2, installed from archlinux [extra]), viewing them larger than the size they are being automatically zoomed to by default, they break up into unconnected, rectangular tiles.
moving (panning) them around with the mouse so that they partially leave the screen brings those parts back to be displayed properly. means i have to 'swivel' the image across all borders to get it to display properly.
in addition, applying scissors or path tool leaves artefacts on the image that can be removed the same way.
i've noticed this first with the development version of GIMP (2.9, compiled from GIT) and thought those were the new GIMP's growing pains -- but then i noticed the same happening with the stable version (2.8).
i've tried switching to an earlier version of xf86-video-ati and to an earlier kernel, but neither rectifies the problem. i also tried different options in /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/ 20-radeon.conf, whith the same result, i.e., none.
seems to have something to do with the image being refreshed, or not being refreshed, but which part of the system is at fault baffles me.
i'm using arch +testing, and here are my system's details:

I would like to use layers from several images in a single image. The idea is to give an x-ray view so that you can see images of different views of an object by selecting the opacity of the various layers. It would be similar to an image of the anatomy of a hand: you could see just the skin, or just the bones, or see the bones through the skin. Is this possible, and if so, how?
View 1 Replies View Relatedhow to import new images into the layers panel. If I hit "create new layer" all I get is a blank layer. What I want to do is import an image from which I will cut out part of it and layer it onto another image. For example: lets's say I want to put an image of myself in front of a tree. I want to take the image of myself from one picture and layer it onto the picture which has the tree on it. How do I get both of those images into the same layers panel? I can get the picture of myself into the layers panel as layer #1, then I can cut myself out of the picture. My problem is, when I try to import the picture with the tree on it, it opens itself up in a new tab. If I try to hit "create new layer", only a blank layer apprears above my first layer. I have tried to drag the new image onto the layers panel, but it won't attach. All of the tutorials I have been able to find/watch, already have all of the images they are working with pre-loaded into the layers panel. I just need to know how to get my images into the panel, so that I can start to work with them.

But I can't see how you maerge the two?In Pshop you simply select it all then copy and paste and you have 2 images in seperate layers, but Elements doens't work like that.
View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm working on a drawing and I need to take multiple layers that I have drawn (which make up one unit) and basically merge them together so that I can replicate and move them about and place them where they need to go in the larger unit that they live in.
I tried playing with grouping in the Layers Manager, but that doesn't seem to be doing anything for me. Not sure if I'm just doing something wrong, or if there is another way to go about this.
I'm attaching my CAD drawing so you can see what I'm up to. In this drawing, there are basically two groups of layers. Those that make up the Control Tower itself, and another group for what's called a Tajimi Rack. I need to have all the layers for the Tajimi Rack made as one so that I can move that object around without having to move the layers one at a time. (There is a lot more that needs to drawn into the Tajimi Rack, but once I know how to merge them all together, I'll be in a good position to carry forward.)
I also need to know how to then take that new Tajimi Rack layer and duplicate it (I'm looking to place about a dozen of the Tajimi Racks in the control tower.
FWIW, I'm a self taught CADer. By that I mean I have to use CAD in my job but it's always done in a 2D setting where I'm simply looking through roofs with other drawings laid under for rigging purposes. I have a large selection of text, that automatically breaks half way through some words (adding a hyphen) at the end of the line, where I would rather it just start that word on a new line.
I have created a ribbon in Photoshop and now I need to have the ribbon break into small squares at the end of the ribbon. I am looking for someway that will take a part of the ribbon and break it apart. Does anyone know how to achieve this? I hope this makes sense!
View 4 Replies View RelatedI am in the business of 3d design, and have recently been learning a lot about the software I use. It works best with square textures (512x512 and maybe 1024x1024). Some of the textures i create for my models are tall and narrow, or short and skinny. For example, on a 600 foot skyscraper, my texture may be 1024x4096. What I normally do is manually cut this image into 4 textures that are 1024x1024, and apply them to their respective places on the face so the exporter doesn't diminish the quality as much. (The exporter I use takes the longest dimension of the face in the 3d model and reduces it to 512px wide, and so in this example the short dimension would become 128px, which is very low res, imo).
Is there a script that would better serve my purposes here, that would breakwhatever image i am editing in Photoshop into square chunks?
In the most extreme case, I had to take an image that was 1024x24576, and chop it into 8 different images, and i remember this process being difficult to accomplish seemlessly.

View 1 Replies View RelatedI have a psd file with lots and lots of separate layers. I want to export only some of these layers as individual image files. I am aware of the Export Layers to Files option under the Files>Scripts menu. However there are some issues I have had with this. One, this exports every single layer in addition to some random white backgrounds. Two, when it exports a layer to an image, the image is not the exact size of the layer, rather the size of the whole psd canvas.
Third, there is no option to save as a .png file. Finally, sometimes it has trouble with a layer name and just cannot save it at all. So basically, I am looking for a way to save individual layers in a single .psd file as images, with the image sizes being the same size as actual layers. And preferably to be able to save them as .png files.
Whenever i try to add adjustment layers on my gifs, the result of the adjustment only comes in effect on the first frame, even when the adjustment layer is on the very top?

I am trying to add several photos to a frame. I just downloaded the free trial of photoshop elements 12, but the entire column labeled 'layer' is disabled. I can't use clipping mask. I am wondering, is this feature disabled because it's a free trial? Do I need to have my photos arranged differently in order for the layer column to be active and usable? I have layers for different possible end picture effects. eg text in different colors some of it on slopes etc. I would like to send the client a few different choices without having to flatten or "merg visible" layers. I would like to be able to create a collage with a background image, with superposed layers that are each an image cropped to a circle or ellipse. I found an article on how to do this with a heart shape using Photoshop Elements. He...using-Elements), but after a few paragraphs, the controls specified there do not correspond with CS3.
Preferably I would like each circle to be framed with a relatively thin colored border, to set them apart from each other and the background. Outside the border, the circular layers should be transparent.
I understand that I can create a simple circular shape that will show up as a layer and have a corresponding path, and that I can make a selection from the path.
Is there a way to open multiple images in 1 Photoshop PSD, with each image in it's own layer? I thought it may be the quickest way to stick images. The images will be named consecutively.
