Photoshop Elements :: Unable To Open Multiple Images And Retain Them On Separate Layers?

View 10 RepliesI'm working with InDesign CS5.5 on a Mac and need to import multiple images into separate layers. The imprint project has a base layer template and several company logos that need to go into their own layer. Is there a way to bring all the logos in at once and have them create their own layer without manually creating each layer and placing images one by one? Can InDesign do this automatically or is there a script? I can't seem to find a way to automate this process.
View 3 Replies View RelatedI have a series of pics (approx 80) that I'd like to load into Elements, with each photo going into a single layer. I google'd a series of old posts where somebody used a "script", but the links are no longer working and that trails is dead.

View 12 Replies View RelatedMy problem is similar to the "send behind"/"bring to front" commands that you use when you're drawing. But my issue is this: what wastes a lot of time for me in the new program is when I try to work in multiple windows at once. (Btw, we don't have large screens to work with here.) Usually what I'll do is have, say, three or four windows up at a time, none of which are maximized, and usually have two that I'm working on side by side, with the remaining one or two sitting in the background. I also keep a lot of windows active, and minimized, so that's not the answer I'm trying to find. I work mostly in model space if that makes any difference, though I don't think it should.
Now, not only do the borders of each of my windows get all sorts of funky screen images on them when I move them around (mildly amusing but not annoying), but what really grinds my gears is that the orientation, or layering, or what-have-you, of the windows that I have active and open in the background is not retained. Let's say I have X-1 and A-1 up front and center, and I have A-3 and A-4 in the background. Let's say I had moved A-3 to sit on top of A-4 before I started working on the X-1 and A-1 sheets. Now, in the 2013 version, if I'd slide X-1 or A-1 out of the way, I'd see A-3 sitting right there on top, all happy and pretty where I left it.
I recently upgraded to the Nikon D600. With that, I’m unable to open RAW images in the programs that I currently have (PS Elements 9). Does Photoshop Elements 11 have the correct software (Camera Raw 7 and higher)? Or will I need to get the full version Photoshop CS6?

View 2 Replies View RelatedI'm new to GIMP. I want to use it to create/test colour (or greyscale) separations for a woodcut, but I'm finding it hard.
For example I have attached a black and white image. kirsty.JPG (84.7K)
Number of downloads: 3
I open the image in GIMP, then from Image I choose mode - indexed, 4 colours. So far so good as this gives me the 4 greyscale levels I need to create a two block woodcut. Now I use the 'select by colour' tool to find the first colour, and I paste this into a new layer. That works fine. Then I select the next colour and try to paste that into a second new layer, but it doesn't work. It produces another layer called 'Floating Selection (pasted layer)' and won't paste the second or third layers.
How can I separate the 4 layers into individual images??
Currently when I open up multiple drawings (opening them up one at a time) they all appear in the same window (one instance) of AutoCAD.
I want each drawing to open in separate instances so I can view them on separate monitors (and close one without being asked to close them all).
I have tried changing the SDI system variable from 0 and 1 (and vise-versa)
I have tried changing the windows default program from AutoCAD Application to AutoCAD Launcher (and vise-versa)
I have set the TASKBAR system variable at both 0 and 1 (and vise-versa)

I am preparing a multiple page document and would like to know if there is a method of importing separate .eps files into individual pages, with only one image per page. I have been using CorelDRAW X3 for awhile, but do not know any Visual Basic to create a macro to do what I am looking for. Is there any method of importing each file to a new page, rather than adding a new page and importing the file separately?

My engineering department produces .ps files that need to be merged into a single Photoshop file as individual layers. Here's what I'd like to do:
1) Drag a set of .ps files onto a droplet
2) For every .ps file, open with same parameters (e.g. 300 DPI, RGB)
3) Adjust Hue/Sat and set Lightness to +50
4) Colorize each layer and adjust saturation to 100%
5) Make each opened file an individual layer in NewFile.psd
6) Close/delete any intermediate files (but not the original .ps's) and leave NewFile.psd open for further editing
My current droplet will do 1-4, but now I'm stuck! How do I take all the open files and make them into layers in a new .psd?
If I can't do this directly, I can save the results of each .ps conversion into a separate .psd, but then I'll need a droplet to convert
each .psd into a layer in NewFile.psd. I can't figure how to do that, because the Override Open/Save setting seems to mess things up.
I have layers for different possible end picture effects. eg text in different colors some of it on slopes etc. I would like to send the client a few different choices without having to flatten or "merg visible" layers. If I do that then I loose the possibility of changes that the client might want.

View 11 Replies View RelatedI'm currently working on a design and come to a point where I want to optimize my work. I have two layers both have its blend mode set to "Overlay".
The top one is at 40% opacity and the second one is at 19% opacity. My question is... How do I merge the two and yet still retain the look that I see on screen?
It perfectly fine if both Layers are identical in terms of blending mode and opacity, but when both are different I have a hard time collapsing the two together so that they look exactly what I saw before collapsing it. I've been living with this for a long time but now I need to know a solution to this.
Is it possible?
When opening several images in photoshop CS4 I would the images to float on screen, that is to say not to place the images stacked. I currently have to go to window in the menu and select float all in window every time. Can a default be selected that opens them and displays them floating.

So, these are the issues. Just one of the folders that previously would show thumbnails now only shows DNG icons, and none will open in Photoshop to let me work on previous image. Issue #2 - can't download images with Photo Downloaders - both my wife's Canon G9 only shows CR2 icons, and my Nikon D300 only shows NEF icons - neither of these issues had appeared before or been an issue. Third issue. None of my Bridge folders - even those with regular thumbnail immages- will open now - get a message that says words to the effect of Photoshop doesn't recognize this type of file. Computer is a Mac, with OS 10.5.8
I recently tried to make more room on HD, so must have taken some critical files/commands out by accident. I'm sure that in trying to correct things have made things even worse- as may be noticed by the two snapshots I've attached. The first is one from a library from my user section. The second library image is from my hard drive. Hopefully you and others aren't laughing or crying too much over what you see - redundantcy, etc! All of my energies have focused on taking photos, obviously none to proper setup/use of organizing things on my Mac. I am most anxious to getting back to working with and saving images.

View 4 Replies View RelatedI'm an animation intern working for an animator who does things old school.
She gives me hundreds of animation cells to scan using her scanner into photoshop CS(nothing), using the scan utility in photoshop. the result, as we are doing it, is hundreds of separate image files. i then copy and paste each of these image files into another custom sized file as separate layers.
i know there must be a way to automate this or do it with an action, but i cannot figure it out. if you think this isn't possible with photoshop CS(nothing) i have CS3 available to me on my personal laptop.
I opened and modified several JPEG images with Photoshop CS2. Now none of these files can be opened by Photoshop or any other program. All of the files seem to have a non-zero size, but when I try to open them in Photoshop, it does not generate an error, it merely offers to create a new file with the same image properties (size, etc) as the saved image on disk.
I've also tried several other programs to open these files, and none of them can open them. FYI, one thing that all of the files have in common is that they are all saved with the absolute minimum compression settings.
Where in CS6 is the "button" for simultaneously viewing multiple open images? There was one in CS5.
